It would also begin an astounding 5-year stretch where Seger and his Silver Bullet Band would dominate American radio and everything Seger touched seemingly turned to gold. The three studio albums to follow during this golden era, Night Moves, Stranger In Town and the number one Grammy Award wining Against The Wind, would each deliver numerous hits and many permanent staples of classic rock radio. On Seger 's 1980 tour, he successfully made lightning strike twice by recording a sequel to Live Bullet. The result was Nine Tonight, originally released as a 2 LP set. This outstanding live album would truly capture Seger's special brand of heartland rock and the power and excitement of the Silver Bullet Band at its peak. Many consider this album the absolute best encapsulation of Seger's golden era (and that is not overlooking his Greatest Hits). Decades later, journey back to the penultimate concert from the 1980 tour, when Seger and The Silver Bullet Band returned to their home stomping grounds at Detroit's Cobo Hall, presented here for the first time ever in it's unedited entirety! This recording is a terrific overview of Seger's peak era, from raunchy rockers to heartfelt ballads and everything in between, all performed with fire and passion. It all culminates in a second encore of "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" that smokes the studio recording before launching into an extended tribute to Chuck Berry and classic rock & roll, where the raw energy of this band and the chemistry between Seger and his audience is undeniable.

Legendary rock star Bob Seger is back. He's out with his first studio album in eight years. As Charlie Rose reports, his songs sound like they were written for every working man and woman in America, but there was a time when it seemed his music may not reach the masses. Seger joins "CBS This Morning" to talk about his album and making way for a new tour.

You can find me here https://www.facebook.com/poetryphotography.musicman A Poem by THOR GARY Lion in my Heart: I will be the Lion in my heart that feeds on the Lamb in my skull. I will be the Lion in my heart, not the Jackal of my corpse. Doubt & Desire are my Achilles' heel Love will conquer all my doubt My imperfection that is easily seen by those devoid of sin The decay and corruption of their sin If they might only see where I have been I will win the War in my head, one battle at a time The outside of a man is just a shell of what is on the inside. You can plant love, passion, trust, empathy, and honor. You can plant hate, mistrust, dishonor, jealousy and greed What is your preference on what bloom’s in the fields of your youth We all have intentions in life good or bad? I would rather temporally hurt a person with the truth then kill our friendship with a lie! I will be there to hold you when I tell you the truth. You can not fix trust and loyalty that has cost you love. I will be the Lion in my heart, not the Jackal of my body. Fear is the mind killer I will be by you side through all your adversity I will prove my significance to me and you The true question of a good man Can he be strong when he is weak We all have a flame that burns in us light or dark the question is what fuel will you feed your flame. MLR GARY THOR 9/12/10 7/25/14 Beautiful Loser Beautiful loser is a song written and perform by american rock singer Bob Seger realesed in his 1975 album with the same name (beautiful loser) April 1975 Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Data Reached 131 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. The album was originally rejected by Warner Brothers, according to Punch, who has said he had to borrow $1,000 to remix the tape before playing it for Capitol. Background Seger: "Frey came to my house, when the Eagles had like three hit records and they'd just released On the Border. He came and heard my Beautiful Loser stuff. If he hadn't come, seriously, I probably would have put out another record like Seven, basically all rock & roll, with maybe one ballad. But Frey liked it. He said 'Go with it, man. Do something diverse.' And ever since then, I been doing it." Dave Marsh, June 15, 1978, Rolling Stone. "Bob Seger: Not A Stranger Anymore." "It's a concept album, to a degree. There are two songs that don't figure in the concept. [Nutbush and Jody Girl]...The other seven songs all have a connected theme "It's basically life on the road and my concept of what a winner or a loser is in life, as opposed to just the music business. Some of the songs talk about how we maintain our sanity..some of the songs are darker, about the loneliness..." Early 1975 radio interview. Standout cuts Again, nearly all of them. You might get an argument about "Momma," or "Sailing Nights." I would describe them as more heartfelt than classic. Beautiful Loser Seger on the title cut: "The song was a long time coming. The original concept came from Leonard Cohen's line, 'He's reaching for the sky just to surrender' -- you know, people who set their goals so low that they'll never be disappointed. "It took over a year to put it together. I wrote five different 'Beautiful Loser's' before I settled on one for the record. There was a ballad, a blues...I couldn't find the right tone. So I played it for Glenn Frey, an old friend, to get some advice. He was the first person to ever hear it. And he loved it, so I stuck with the song until it all got pieced together." Patrick Goldstein, July 29, 1976, Rolling Stone. "The immediate image that you would conjure up is that I'm the Beautiful Loser, but it's really not...you have to hear the song to understand it." Early 1975 radio interview. Jody Girl Seger: "Probably the quietest thing I ever did...I recorded all the instruments except the Mellotron." Early 1975 radio interview. Give Seger credit for being one of the first rockers to write about the disillusionment that can follow when the exhileration of young love wears off. In 1975, not many songwriters were interested in, or attempted that subject. Fast forward to Sheryl Crow's 1997 album, and the spirit of Jody Girl lives on. Listen to Crow's beautiful song, titled 'Home': "I woke up this morning, now I understand, What it means to give your life to just one man. Afraid of feeling nothing. No bees or butterflies. My head is full of voices and my house is full of lies. I found you standing there when I was seventeen. Now I'm thirty-two and I can't remember what I seen in you. I made a promise, said it everyday. Now I'm reading romance novels and dreaming of yesterday." That's Jody Girl talking. Crow's song is every bit as original and heartfelt as Seger's, and being in the first person, it's also edgier. I remember hearing listening to "Home" and thinking: 'I've met this woman somewhere.' Only now it's the '90s, and Jody definitely wants out.

Earlier in his career, Wolfe was a member of the collective that put out the Marxist-oriented journal, Kapitalistate, whose pages featured articles by such writers as Poulantzas, Claus Offe, Ralph Miliband, and Bob Jessop. By the early 1980s, Wolfe's politics had become more centrist. In 2004, one author characterized him as a radical centrist thinker. A contributing editor of The New Republic, The Wilson Quarterly, Commonwealth Magazine, and In Character, Wolfe writes often for those publications as well as for Commonweal, The New York Times, Harper's, The Atlantic Monthly, The Washington Post, World Affairs and other magazines and newspapers. He served as an advisor to President Bill Clinton in preparation for his 1995 State of the Union Address and has lectured widely at American and European universities. He was ranked #98 in the list of the 500 most cited intellectuals in the 2001 book by Richard Posner titled Public Intellectuals. Wolfe chairs a task force of the American Political Science Association on "Religion and Democracy in the United States." He serves on the advisory boards of Humanity in Action and the Future of American Democracy Foundation and on the president's advisory board of the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities. He is also a Senior Fellow with the World Policy Institute at the New School University in New York. In the fall of 2004, Professor Wolfe was the George H. W. Bush Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin. "Wolfe, a self-proclaimed atheist, said he recognizes the importance of being open to religious ideas," a 2008 report about an "Ethics of Atheism" debate put it. Wolfe has been the recipient of grants from the Russell Sage Foundation, the Templeton Foundation, the Smith Richardson Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Lilly Endowment. He has twice conducted programs under the auspices of the U.S. State Department that bring Muslim scholars to the United States to learn about separation of church and state. He is listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, and Contemporary Authors. TMZ 2015-04-10Robert Clark "Bob" Seger (born May 6, 1945) is an American rock and roll singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist.
As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the "System" from his recordings, and he continued to strive for broader success with other various bands. In 1973, he put together The Silver Bullet Band, an evolving group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful. In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the album Night Moves. On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger's best-selling singles and albums.
A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, Seger wrote and recorded songs that dealt with blue-collar themes and was an exemplar of heartland rock. Seger has recorded many hits, including "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", "We've Got Tonight", "Against the Wind", and "Like a Rock", and also co-wrote the Eagles' number-one hit "Heartache Tonight". His iconic recording of "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001.
