Many responded that the screenplay should be based on a single Gospel, and that Luke should be chosen for its completeness. More than 450 religious leaders and scholars evaluated the script to ensure historical and biblical accuracy. Some of the intense efforts to portray the Palestinian culture of nearly 2,000 years ago include hand-woven clothing in only the 35 colors used then, pottery made with first-century methods, and removal of modern telephone poles and power lines from the landscape. JESUS was filmed entirely at 202 locations in Israel in 1979, with a cast numbering more than 5,000 Israelis and Arabs. Some locations mentioned in the Bible, such as the Jordan River and what is believed to have been the home of Simon the Tanner, were used in the film. Whenever possible, scenes were filmed on the sites where they took place 2,000 years ago. After each day's filming was completed, the footage was sent to a panel of biblical scholars for careful review. British Shakespearean actor Brian Deacon was hired to play the critical role of Jesus himself. The part of Mary was played by Rivka Neumann, and the part of Joseph by Yosef Shiloach. Former Jesus Film Project director Paul Eshleman, who was on location during much of the principal photography and even had a small non-speaking role as a Roman soldier on horseback, revealed in the DVD's audio commentary that Deacon (the son of a Catholic mother and a Protestant father), was so committed to the film and its message that he read several Bible translations a day in order to make certain that he properly presented Christ's teachings. Plot
A small apartment in Los Angeles, two lovers MICHAEL and ISABEL discuss the crazy day they met. Their recollection of specific events surrounding that day create distance in their otherwise seemingly loving relationship. Michael fixes restaurant computers as his day job but yearns for his passion - to secure a venue to exhibit his art. Visually, Michael's inner sub-conscious begins to be presented with an in-between dreaming and waking state described clinically as 'sleep paralysis' - an actual real-time traumatic experience wherein Michael is plagued by real and/or imagined stimuli in the present, which could be originated from past trauma. The true journey begins when Michael receives a call, from his boss, to fix computers at Jim Donovan's restaurant Graziano's (located near China Lake - a Naval base in the Mojave desert). Michael is familiar with the area as his estranged father (a Naval Officer) had been stationed at China Lake. There he meets Isabel, a mysterious but ordinary girl, working the front desk at the China Lake Country Inn - who triggers the dark side of Michael's psyche and his imagination. Characters begin to appear that propel him to identify with the root of his inspiration. What is real from that fateful day?

Plot
Esperanza and Tristeza both have to get to Cuenca. However, by an unlucky turn of events, the bus they are on gets delayed due to a worker strike. Taking their journey into their own hands, they decide to hitchhike to Cuenca. Along the way they meet interesting characters who help them re-evaluate the purpose of their journey.

In 1976, with Campus Crusade's influence spreading, Bright turned his attention once again to filmmaking. Hollywood's German-born British producer John Heyman approached Bright to fund a project to put the entire Bible on film. The project was eventually scaled back to a single book of the Bible, the Gospel of Luke, and be financed primarily by Campus Crusade supporters Bunker and Caroline Hunt for a sum of $6 million. The Gospel According to Luke was chosen after John Heyman sought advice from clergy and scholars. Many responded that the screenplay should be based on a single Gospel, and that Luke should be chosen for its completeness.
More than 450 religious leaders and scholars evaluated the script to ensure historical and biblical accuracy. Some of the intense efforts to portray the Palestinian culture of nearly 2,000 years ago include hand-woven clothing in only the 35 colors used then, pottery made with first-century methods, and removal of modern telephone poles and power lines from the landscape. JESUS was filmed entirely at 202 locations in Israel in 1979, with a cast numbering more than 5,000 Israelis and Arabs. Some locations mentioned in the Bible, such as the Jordan River and what is believed to have been the home of Simon the Tanner, were used in the film. Whenever possible, scenes were filmed on the sites where they took place 2,000 years ago. After each day's filming was completed, the footage was sent to a panel of biblical scholars for careful review.
British Shakespearean actor Brian Deacon was hired to play the critical role of Jesus himself. The part of Mary was played by Rivka Neumann, and the part of Joseph by Yosef Shiloach. Former Jesus Film Project director Paul Eshleman, who was on location during much of the principal photography and even had a small non-speaking role as a Roman soldier on horseback, revealed in the DVD's audio commentary that Deacon (the son of a Catholic mother and a Protestant father), was so committed to the film and its message that he read several Bible translations a day in order to make certain that he properly presented Christ's teachings. Because Deacon developed pneumonia during principal photography, doubles were used in certain scenes. Eshleman also said that Niko Nitai, who played Simon Peter, became a believer during filming and that the man hired to play Jesus' corpse later entered a seminary.

PICO ... A very special mountain...
Pico / Ilha do Pico Description
Pico, the most southerly island in the central group of the Azores, lies east of Faial and southwest of Sao Jorge, from which it is separated by the 18km/11mi wide Canal de Sao Jorge.
Topography
The rugged and mountainous island of Pico, 48km/30mi long and up to 15km/9mi wide, with an area of 433sq.km/167sq.mi, rises at its western end to the prominent Pico Alto (2,351m/7,714ft), the highest peak not only in the Azores but in the whole of Portugal. The highest point in the eastern half of the island is the Pico Topo (1,633m/5,358ft).

Pico / Ilha do Pico Description
Pico, the most southerly island in the central group of the Azores, lies east of Faial and southwest of Sao Jorge, from which it is separated by the 18km/11mi wide Canal de Sao Jorge.
Topography
The rugged and mountainous island of Pico, 48km/30mi long and up to 15km/9mi wide, with an area of 433sq.km/167sq.mi, rises at its western end to the prominent Pico Alto (2,351m/7,714ft), the highest peak not only in the Azores but in the whole of Portugal. The highest point in the eastern half of the island is the Pico Topo (1,633m/5,358ft).

Brian Deacon (born 13 February 1949) is a British actor. Born in Oxford, he trained at the Oxford Youth Theatre. He appeared with his brother Eric Deacon in the Peter Greenaway film, A Zed & Two Noughts (1985), as Heumac in The Feathered Serpent (1976, 1978) and as Frank Miles in the TV series Lillie in 1978. In 1979 he starred in the title role of Jesus. This film was made by an evangelical organization, the Jesus Film Project.
He has been married twice: first time to Rula Lenska (1977–1987), with whom he had a daughter Lara Deacon, and the second time to Natalie Bloch (1998 to present).
