Pregnancy is a sacred time.
Those nine months of gestation where a woman can feel life growing inside of her are so special that, understandably, a lot of couples want to capture the moment as an eternal keepsake.
Some, however, get it so wrong.
That’s where Awkward Family Photos comes into the equation. While the site collects all kinds of weird and wonderful family photos from around the world, it’s the pregnancy photos that really push the limits of strange.
A pregnant woman with a suggestively-placed lollipop? They’ve got it. A couple dressed in grunge gear, lying on the floor as though the thought of welcoming their child into the world is the most depressing concept ever? Yep, they’ve got that, too.

It is a real shame and sad indictment on our community when mum’s to be and their partners make a time that is personal and very special, into a gross and indecent display.
Im a really private person but very lucky to have a professional photographer for a mum. I would not have been comfortable having any preggy photos taken otherwise.

I really don’t see wat is wrong with this one. It’s not like she’s riding the horse like uz are making out. All she is doing is posing and she may find this to be something she likes where as u people don’t. Why criticize others? Is that too make urself feel better??

Just because a person isn’t grammatically gifted, doesn’t mean they don’t have a valid point of view, just as some people who can make a correction on it, don’t really have anything of real worth to mention.

It might be a bit hard for you, but surely you can see you’re doing what you’re telling others not to do: criticise. I also find it annoying that American blow-ins post on Australian sites. We have completely different mindsets, and there’s rarely anything said by these people of value. In your world where no-one criticises, it actually means anything goes. Which is ridiculous. Some things (like those pics) are tacky, and show the owner’s complete lack of insight into what’s tasteful and what’s not. I put it down to watching too much television, aping celebrities via trashy magazines, and forever being told that whatever you do is valid, fantastic, and amazing. Those pics are none of those things, they’re just plain old clueless bad taste.
Pregnancy is not a “Sacred” state it is a perfectly natural phase of most women’s lives, we may not like it nor do it ourselves but there is nothing wrong with the way these couples and women chose to express their joy in their pregnancies,

I think people are far to judgemental. Pregnancy is a personal thing and different for each person. It is what makes us human being. The minute we let others judge others and tell you how to do this or that. It can go all wrong. Others can give you help and make suggestions. Then back off and respect parents have the final say. The world seems to think they can each raise another child’s better then the next! Children are individuals the same as all of us. Children don’t come with instruction manuals.
What’s wrong with the photos? The world is full of different personalities, and that is what makes it a wonderful world! I think it’s great that we can express our own personalities any way we like. They’re not hurting anyone by having their photos taken! i think there are more important things to talk about instead of peoples pregnancy photos!
It’s also great that we are still free to highlight tackiness whenever we see it. The person who took the godawful pictures opinions are irrelevant when your passing comment on their lack of taste. You don’t have to agree, but you do have to accept that’s what (lots) of others think.
Geeeeeez………………pregnancy is not private……………..the Mum’s big belly sticking out is very public………………get over it and get a life………….probably best not to get one in your belly though!!!!!!
As always, it doesn’t help that most of the people in those pics are fairly ugly. Not that good looking people could get away with it. It’s part of life these days: every idiot has the tools to create what they think constitutes tasteful art, of course that doesn’t make it so!
I’m surprised some of these unattractive people didn’t show themselves actually rooting to create these foetuses. There’s no accounting for taste, or the ability for even moronic people to roger themselves to make new people.
