STAR WARS VII To Reportedly Focus On Original Cast Subscribe to ClevverMovies: http://bit.ly/clevvermovies Looks like we could be seeing a lot more of Luke, Leia and Han in Star Wars Episode VII than originally anticipated. Granted, we know very little about the plot of the next Star Wars movie. So far the only thing that's for sure is it will hit theaters on December 18th, 2015 and the only returning "star" Disney has officially confirmed is R2-D2. But numerous reports and early casting calls have suggested that the plan was for the film to focus heavily on Luke, Leia and Han's offspring with the original heroes taking a supporting role. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that is no longer the case and Episode VII will instead focus on the continuing adventures of the original characters. We told you back in October that original Episode VII writer Michael Arndt had exited the project with J.J. Abrams revealing that he and The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi writer Lawrence Kasden had taken over scripting duties in order to ensure they made their tight release schedule. According to what THR calls "multiple sources", this is not actually true. The real reason for the change is that Arndt wanted the film to focus on the offspring while Abrams wanted the film to instead revolve around the original characters so audiences could quote, "have one more chance to enjoy them before a fitting send-off." They apparently asked George Lucas to weigh in on the debate, who decided to leave the decision to Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. So with the focus on the movie changing, it appears that many of the previous casting reports are no longer relevant as many of the characters in Arndt's script have been altered or completely scrapped altogether, and new characters have been added. For instance, the role that Mud star Tye Sheridan was reportedly being eyed for no longer exists and it is unclear if the studio is still looking at actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael B. Jordan and Saiorse Ronan for roles. A few actors we do know are still being eyed include Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons, who is meeting with Abrams this week. The Wrap first reported Plemons being up for a role last week that they speculate would be for the role of Luke Skywalker's offspring due to a resemblance to star Mark Hamill. Other actors reportedly up for roles include X-Men'sMichael Fassbender, who met with Abrams last month and Girls star Adam Driver, who was previously rumored to be in the running to play "Nightwing" in Batman vs. Superman, though he has since denied that rumor. No word on which roles either actors would be playing, but THR has two sources claiming that The Matrix's Hugo Weaving is being eyed for a role as an Imperial Commander. The studio is also reportedly looking to cast the role of a twentysomething mixed race or black actress to take on the role of Obi Wan Kenobi's daughter or granddaughter.
