Street Skater Quim Cardona—The Real "Telly" From "Kids": Asphalt NYC
In the first of five installments of the new Network A series "Asphalt NYC" we catch up with street skater and artist Quim Cardona out in Brooklyn, NY to talk about New York, skateboarding and how he was the inspiration for "Telly" in Larry Clark's
indie film classic "Kids."

Analysis Toolbox For Street Network Comparison: OSM vs the Official Austrian Reference Graph
This paper presents a novel open source toolbox for street network comparison based on the Sextante geoprocessing framework for the open source Geographic Information System Quantum GIS (QGIS). In the spirit of open science, the tool- box enables researchers worldwide to assess the quality of street networks such as OpenStreetMap (OSM) by calculating key performance indicators commonly used in street network comparison studies. Additionally, we suggest two new perfor- mance indicators for turn restriction and one-way street comparisons specifically aimed at testing street network quality for routing. We demonstrate the use of this toolbox by comparing OSM and the official Austrian reference graph "Graph Integration Platform" (GIP) in the greater Vienna region.

Two Years After Occupy Wall Street, a Network of Offshoots Continue Activism for the 99%
http://www.democracynow.org - Two years after the Occupy Wall Street movement shifted the conversation on economic inequality, we look at its origins in New York City's Zuccotti Park and its continued legacy in a number of different groups active today. We speak with Nicole Carty, actions coordinator with The Other 98 Percent, and a facilitator of general assemblies and spokescouncil meetings during Occupy, where she was a member of the Occupy People of Color Caucus. Also joining us is Nathan Schneider, editor of the website Waging Nonviolence, and a longtime chronicler of the Occupy movement for Harper's Magazine, The Nation, The New York Times, and The Catholic Worker. Scheider's new book, "Thank You Anarchy: Notes from the Occupy Apocalypse," chronicles Occupy's first year.

Vacate Wall Street - Empty Out The Banks by Sept 2014
Two years ago today Occupy Wall Street began (Sept 17th). Let's finish what they started. Begin putting a dollar a day into bitcoin or other alternative currency, even gold. From this, a new economy will rise. By September 17th 2014 we can take all the cash out of banks & Wall Street will be empty. Vacated.
Bitcoin is for real. It is not a company. It is a revolution that anyone can join. It is owned & controlled by no one. Bitcoin is all of us. We are the 99%.

From WBN
Ten days ago, on September 6th we received this piece as a set of Final Cut Pro files, edited much the way it is here. The author expressed the desire to remain anonymous. But they told us that could do what we want with the edit as long as we released it on September 17th (the anniversary of Occupy Wall Street). We originally decided not to put it on our site. It is a little strong and revolutionary for our channel. But in the week that followed the ideas and images kept coming back. We think it is an important video. We decided just to touch it up to make it easier to read and hear. We changed the audio levels, added some shadow on the titles, and added some reference websites in the small text at the end (it would be a shame if the video really did grow, that there was no forum to discuss the contents). Everything else was how we found it. While the ideas and thoughts expressed in the video are not ours, there is something here that resonates with us and perhaps will do the same with others. Further, we have attempted to understand the copyright issues and we believe they are short enough and used well enough to fall under 'fair use' compliance. Still, because it is not our production, we will not monetize the video. It is the author's message, we will respect that it should not be polluted with ads. Like the auther, we believe in alternative currencies, from Bitcoin & gold to Freicoin & Litecoin. We feel there is a place for them in a more perfect world. Hopefully you will find it as compelling and powerful as we did.
