It is in fact set around the little known Student Revolution that took place 40 years after the overthrow of King Louis XVI. A generation has grown up since the fall of the Bastille but little has improved. Now the question is, “With all the anger in the land, how long before the judgment day, before we cut the fat ones down to size?” Set to this backdrop is the story of Jean Valjean who has broken parole after 18 years imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread.
