Uluru Kata Tjuta, Northern Territory
Uluru / Ayers Rock is one of the most recognised symbols of Australia. The monolith stands 348 metres high, and has a great cultural significance for the traditional Aboriginal owners, the Anangu people. Located 440 kilometres to the west of Alice Springs by road, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park contains Uluru / Ayers Rock and the impressive 36 domes of Kata Tjuta / The Olgas. These massive geological formations date back over 500 million years and are visited by thousands of travellers each year. A range of accommodation from camp sites to five-star luxury is available at Yulara, a small township purpose built to service park visitors. Yulara contains Ayers Rock Resort, made up of a range of properties to suit most budgets, a shopping centre and an airport with daily connections to several other Australian destinations. Ayers (Uluru) Rock Song
After knowing the view for decades and surrounding Australia several times hitchhiking and camping i made it there as if it had been waiting for me and wanted me to understand the continent before touching it. The words and music i composed and produced afterwards in one big rush (one day) without any editing. I started with acoustic guitar, then played the rest of the instruments, tried to catch the emotional output of this playback and the words were flying right out of my mind. Then i sang them straight in and improvised realtime by ear the chord vocals. To me it´s always a miracle, how the music gets into my mind - in this case it was sort of an inner drag to tell my impression of this rock as a katalysator of all (not only aboriginal) cultures.. I hope Uluru will have a deeper meaning for you out there too - if you make it there. If it is so, it will give you some permission but take care how to use it (as i did in this case and thought about many times if i should). Art with Message feels better than just picking/showing frames. You cannot own the land, the land owns you and might tell you......

Earthflight (Winged Planet) Budgies fly past Uluru forming Super Swarms (Narrated by David Tennant)
Budgerigars search for food and water in the outback of Australia. They fly in small flocks which gradually join other flocks of budgies, allowing their numbers to increase to super swarms of millions of budgerigars. Earthflight uses many different filming techniques to create the experience of flying with birds as they encounter some of the greatest natural events on the planet. Clip from our series Earthflight - Episode 5 'Asia & Australia'. Showing Thursday 26th January 2012 at 8pm on BBC1 For more information about the series visit www.earthflight.co.uk For more information about John Downer Productions visit our website www.jdp.co.uk Narrated by David Tennant Series Producer John Downer Music by Will Gregory and Steven Faux

Uluru (Ayers Rock) Timelapse / Zeitraffer / Stars
The starry sky above the Ayers Rock (Uluru) in Australia is one of the most impressing skies in the world. The reason for this is, that in the australian outback there is no artifical light that could interfere with the dark night sky. In addition the southern hemisphere offers some spectacular sky objects, such as the magellanic clouds and the famous constellation namend Southern Cross. The milky way has so much power that is even is visible when the moon is shining. The moonset looks like a sunset a bit, because there are some small clouds hiding it. When the moon disappeared, the milky way arouses it's whole spectrum of colors and shows all it's beauty. The center of our galaxy slowly lays down above the famous rock, until the milky way finally sets down and lets the Magellanic Clouds rule the field. First, the Small Magellanic Cloud floats into the video, until the Large Magellanic Cloud follows soon. Bevore the sun rises again, there are some clouds passing. This is a nice oppurtunity to notice that there is really no light pollution at all in the australian outback: The clouds are black, because normally when there are even only some artifical light sources, the clouds are enlightend from the bottom so strongly, that they turn red or orange. The Uluru (or Ayers rock) unfortunately is quite far away from my place of capture (about 22km). The reason for this is, that I did not get a permit for staying a night in the Uluru National Park. www.spacelapse.net
