Sofronas Olsen Comparison

This is David and Goliath. And just to be clear, Goliath wins by a lot. James Sofronas ran a 1:19 in his GMG Racing World Challenge Spec V10 Audi R8 during a Red Race with the POC. My best lap ever is a 1:27 -- so we're talking about an 8 second gap between the Audi and my old Porsche. But I'm looking to learn what I can, so this clip shows the segment of just turns 3 and 4, where the gap between the two of us is pretty slight. And then I look at isolated speeds at various parts of the two corner segment.

Similar, but Different -- Roush and Olsen Laps Compared

This is not good science. My goal is to look at the different parts of the Willow Springs track and see where a just-slightly-faster car is doing better than me and also where it's doing worse. The speed data on the Roush video is a little suspicious to me. I suspect there's about a fraction of a second of lag before the actual speed is displayed, which creates the impression that he is entering corners faster than me, but then exiting slower. Maybe the more useful part of the comparison is the segment times, which I brake up and take a look at. If I'm reading the differeces correctly, I could be getting through turns 5 and 9 wuicker, which is worth learning, since they're the most important corners on this particular track.

Wing Cap Loss at Willow Springs

If you watch the shadow of my wing on the pavement from this rear-facing footage, you can see one of my end caps go flying off during a lap at Willow Springs. The lesson? Better adhesive and some kind of redundant mechanical attachment on the next version of the wing.
