Aladdin 23, Brenner Matador Kerosene-oil lamps, Coleman 202 compare. Vintage camping, survival
Old Aladdin model 23 burner vs Ehrich & Graetz Brenner Matador burner kerosene lamps vs Coleman 202 white gas pressure lantern. The Coleman was made in 1955, The Aladdin 23 the 1960's and the Ehrich & Graetz around 1895. I purchased them at garage sales and the Brenner Matador off ebay for fairly cheap, cleaned them up and tinkered with them and now they all work great. The oil lamps produce a surprising amount of light for what they are. They would easily light up a good size room and you could certainly read by them. They are good on fuel and would work great as backup lighting, camping or living off-grid.

lightup a old Kerosene lantern.
This is a video on how i light up a Primus 1020 brass lanterns from 1938. I do not know if my method is the right way to do this but it allways works.. The lantern uses Kerosene for fuel and spirit ( Metanol) for the preheating.

How To Light a Coleman Kerosene Lantern - Lantern Lab Episode 2
In this second episode of Lantern Lab I talk about properly lighting a kerosene lantern. Kerosene and white gas are two very different fuels and the lighting procedure is completely different. Because kerosene is less volatile (but more energetic) than white gas it needs a good preheat before lighting, the preheat is provided by alcohol in a cup at the base of the generator. Without sufficient preheat the generator won't be able to provide kerosene fumes (technically kerosene gas) which is what is actually burnt. If liquid kerosene gets through the generator big flames will be the result accompanied by loads of soot on the glass and vent.
