Figari
Figari is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica.
Geography
The village of Figari is 43 kilometers (27 mi) to the southeast of Sartène, 20 km (12 mi) to the southwest of Porto-Vecchio and 19 km (12 mi) to the north of Bonifacio. The commune comes from an ancient parish. It includes the center of a large plain where the airport was built in 1975. To the north looms Mount Cagna, which exceeds 1,100 meters (3,600 ft).
To the southeast hills climb to 320 m (1,050 ft) over the village and enclose a reservoir created by damming the Ruisseau de Ventilegne for purposes of water supply and irrigation; additional water can be taken from the Orgone, a small brook which descends from the mountain of Cagna et forms the upper stream of the Stabbiacciu in Porto-Vecchio. To the southwest the commune occupies the east bank of the Bay of Figari, and Ventilegne Point, but not the resort.

Viticulture has been practiced in Figari since the Roman era. There are 153 hectares (380 acres) of vineyards on which Syrah, Grenache, and Vermentino are grown. The wine produced falls under the Vin de Corse-Figari AOC.

Luis Fernando Figari
Luis Fernando Figari Rodrigo (born July 8, 1947 in Lima, Peru) is a Peruvian Catholic layman and the founder and former superior general of Sodalitium Christianae Vitae. He has also founded Christian Life Movement and other religious associations. In October 2015 a book was published in Lima 'Mitad Monjes, Mitad Soldados' by Pedro Salinas, in which various testimonies denounced Figari for the physical, psychological and sexual abuse of young men, some of whom were minors.
Biography
Early life and education
Luis Fernando Figari was born in Lima, Peru, on 8 July 1947. His parents were Don Alberto Figari (1902–1990) and Mrs. Blanca Figari (1909–1995), both Peruvian. He was born in a Catholic family, and was the last of four children.
He studied in the Immaculate Heart of Mary School until he was 10 years of age and then in Holy Mary High School at Lima.
When he was 7 years old, he received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion, and Confirmation. Presiding over the Liturgy was Archbishop Juan Landazuri, O.F.M., who would have an important role in the approval of the Sodalitium, as well as in other societies Luis Fernando established.

During the season of 2011-2012 we offer an exhibition entitled “Figari, Sarlos and the Uruguayan Rhythm”, a presentation of Uruguayan artists under the auspices of the Uruguayan Embassy and the Harry Recanati Foundation. Figari-Sud Corse Airport or Figari South Corsica Airport (French: Aéroport Figari-Sud Corse) (IATA: FSC, ICAO: LFKF) is an airport located 3 km northwest of Figari, a commune of the Corse-du-Sud département in France, on the island of Corsica and 25 km of Porto-Vecchio.
It is the third largest airport on Corsica and opened in 1975.

Figari is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. The village of Figari is 43 kilometers (27 mi) to the southeast of Sartène, 20 km (12 mi) to the southwest of Porto-Vecchio and 19 km (12 mi) to the north of Bonifacio. Figari comes from an ancient parish. Figari includes the center of a large plain where the airport was built in 1975. To the north looms Mount Cagna, which exceeds 1,100 meters (3,600 ft).
To the southeast hills climb to 320 m (1,050 ft) over the village and enclose a reservoir created by damming the Ruisseau de Ventilegne for purposes of water supply and irrigation; additional water can be taken from the Orgone, a small brook which descends from the mountain of Cagna et forms the upper stream of the Stabbiacciu in Porto-Vecchio. To the southwest the Figari occupies the east bank of the Bay of Figari, and Ventilegne Point, but not the resort.
Viticulture has been practiced in Figari since the Roman era. There are 153 hectares (380 acres) of vineyards on which Syrah, Grenache, and Vermentino are grown. The wine produced falls under the Vin de Corse-Figari AOC. The airport, Figari Sud-Corse Airport, is the third largest of Corsica. It opened in 1975 with a runway of 2,500 meters (8,200 ft). In 2004 it carried 254,000 passengers, 117,000 between the airport and Paris, 63,000 to or from Marseille, 34,000 to or from Nice, and 37,000 in charters.

During the season of 2011-2012 we offer an exhibition entitled “Figari, Sarlos and the Uruguayan Rhythm”, a presentation of Uruguayan artists under the auspices of the Uruguayan Embassy and the Harry Recanati Foundation.
We exhibit paintings by Pedro Figari and his son Juan Carlos Figari, who treated local scenes of everyday life in Montevideo and in Uruguay from a unique point of view. Pedro Figari is a painter of spots, not of lines. He paints the past based on his affective memories. In his paintings we can find collective scenes of the descendants of the black slaves, such as parties, christenings and weddings, dances brought from Africa, such as the Candombe, and traditional South American dances, such as the Pericón and the Gato, popular street bands, guitars and drums as well as rural scenes. His work portrays rural landscapes, with their huts and moonlit skies, colonial patios, gauchos, blacks and criollos, all part of Uruguayan society. It is part of a Latin American artistic process characterized by a search for local content.
Figari was a multifaceted man, operating in the judicial, political, diplomatic and educational fields. He led the creation and development of the School of Arts and Crafts.
We also exhibit paintings by Eduardo Sarlos, contemporary Uruguayan painter who represented a different part of the Uruguayan society from a different point of view. Sarlos is a painter of details who did ink drawings and paintings alluding to Jewish culture and to his Hungarian origin and with a theme that characterizes his work: old people. His mother, his aunt, his wife Marta and his own face can be perceived in the faces of some of his characters. He portrays a world of old people with subtle irony, a community that grew old at an implacable rate. Sarlos was an architect, but he was also a travel agent, the owner of a pharmacy and a prolific playwright. His plays are an integral part of the Uruguayan national repertoire.
