Courtney Act is the stage name of Shane Jenek, an Australian drag celebrity, pop singer and entertainer. As Courtney Act, Jenek was a semi-finalist on Australian Idol in 2003 and was the third singer of the competition to release an official solo single, following Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll. The single, "Rub Me Wrong", was released in 2004, which peaked at #29 on the ARIA Singles Chart.
Courtney Act, a pun on the phrase "caught in the act", is the stage name of "gender illusionist", Shane Jenek. Jenek auditioned for Australian Idol as himself but did not get beyond the selection auditions. Returning the next day as Courtney, he wowed the judges and went through to the semi-finals. Revealing impressive voice and singing talents as well as a stage presence considerably ahead of many of the other contestants, he continued until being finally voted off in thirteenth place. Courtney particularly impressed judge Ian “Dicko” Dickson, who signed Jenek to the BMG label following the completion of the show.
After
The ones who wait
For judgment
To befall them
And deserved are we
That need no judgment
Fear nothing
But nothing itself
Find faith in yourselves
For you're all Gods
All of you
Within yourselves
In this
The year
We pray
And after the wooden icons have infested your mind
Ground your feet
And all that is real
And bare the scars
of all your convictions
Wear them
Yourself
The proud
The standalones
Do
Do not ask forgiveness from the icon
Ask it from yourselves
Sickness beginning
Lies continuing
Story and fable
See-through not able
Its cold and dry
As I am (design?) the sea
That blinds me behind me
But nothing is left of me
Hide behind as I decide
For the end of time
We will be
So as I find my eye itself
It's jealousy
The evolution would be
But nothing is left to see
What I decide
Give time
To the end of time
When I would be left to see
More to the meaning
Forbidden you feel me
I'm broken and freezing
Exhausted from breathing
The weakness beginning
Try and believe it
No more
We believe you
I'm not like you
Go and be gone
you betrayed my trust
Lies all lies all lies all lies
If you stay
You feel without feeling
All is lost
Lost are
The ones who wait
For judgment
To befall them
And deserved are we
That need no judgment
Fear nothing
But nothing itself
Find faith in yourselves
For you're all Gods
All of you
Within yourselves

You feel without feeling
One Mind, One Soul, One-sided and we're outa control
Like a shot in the dark
We take aim, we never hit the mark
Wide-eyed with tunnel vision
A telltale sign of the human condition
One pride, One power, One Religion....
I don't buy this game,
Same old lie, we just change the name
(Chorus)
We're still running into the wind
And leading a Life of Crime
Though we deny it, We show our colors under the gun
We're still running into the wind
And living on borrowed time
Don't try to hide it,
We can't undo the things that are done
One fist held high, One voice claiming world dominion
No truth, We try, To reduce it to pure opinion
No judge, No jury, No guilt if we take away the rules
One war, One rebellion
One world full of fairytale fools
I don't buy this game,
Same old lie, we just change the name
Chorus)
Up and down
Up and down
Round and round
We’re crazy
Up and down (You can’t take me down)
Up and down (I won’t stay down)
Round and round
You’re crazy
(Up down, down up)
(Verse)
When I downsize my sleep
And I download the beat
And I downplay the streets
When I throw down your heat
I’m just chasing pounds
No point in looking down
I splash downstairs
Then I dash downtown
Or it’s the Dunstable downs (yep)
It’s going down
When I run through the town (you know)
Give me my crown
And I’m downcast
When they treat me like an outcast
(Downtime) guess I’m just down and out
Had a down ass miss
And no I aren’t get no kisses (oh no)
I aren’t make the hit list (no)
I was on the wish list (no)
A down low sister and how she got me downhearted
Since the day I departed, I’ve been down in love
Like and artist
Started real good, then it went downhill
Down here if you’re good
You living down mill hill
You thinking downward
You down start, down south
Don’t slouch blood
When you’re down but you don’t stop (never)
(Chorus)
(Verse 2)
Up we go, yea we’re going uptown
To the upscale life, coming from the underground
Got to get up, I can’t upstage me
Uncage the upheaval and step it up to like 80
This uppity brother got a problem with upbeats
Upload the sheets
It seems I’m up a piece
It’s typical beef, like POW, up your speed
That’s 2003 to me, now get this
Up the block, by the shop, there’s a cop cutting locks
(That’s dread) you can’t even shot Nike shox
By the bus stop, you either shot or getting stopped
Up this way it’s up yours or not yours
Up till 04’s I couldn’t get the doors
Now DSP get high shows like we’re billing up on tour
Yea, it’s A/D, Milton Keynes to Northants
Luton, Essex, London, Up and down it’s your chance.
(Chorus)
[Guitar solo]
Around the same time, next girl told me I was common
My life moved up and by chance I met Common
Spit @ Vocool Lounge with J.O
Around 04 NN5 became two
I met this girl from around the way
Around the same time, beats sell I start to get paid
In a roundabout way moved on to Leigh-On-sea
Girls all around, skinny round, I’m surround
The team got stronger
Eric, Lona, and Dom
Matt came thru, plus Stric, Joe and Rum
Rap nice and he’s cold as ice
Markotix got it on (yea he’s nice as rice)
Round up the crew, the boys bout to blew
Dreamstate just grew
You wound up? I cloak you
Say a prayer, get out your bibles
Round it all up like I’m your thirteenth disciple (the Judas)
