Remembering 1973
On 17th November 1973, the military dictatorship ruling Greece at that time brutally stormed the Polytechnic university in Athens to squash a student uprising. The students where joined by many people angered at the military rule. Every year large protests are held in memory of those whole died in 1973. The marches attract Anarchist blocks as well as student movements. This years march was relatively peaceful considering the political and economic turmoil Greece is currently undergoing. This film interviews regular protesters as well as documenting the march from within the AK Anarchist movement.

Black Out - Protest in Egypt - English Subtitles/Sous-titres français
Synopsis:
On the 7th June 2010, Khaled Saeed a 28-year-old Egyptian was allegedly tortured to death by two police officers in plain clothes after refusing to be searched under the emergency law while he was sitting in an internet cafe. The Egyptian government denied the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations and claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal" who died of ASPHYXIATION after swallowing a packet of drugs. The video is about a demonstration that took place a week later on the 16th of June 2010, near Khaled Saeed's house in Cleopatra district in Alexandria protesting against his murder.
Crew:
Directors: Mohamad El Hadidi - Mayye Zayed
DOP: Mohamad El Hadidi

Subtitles: Sara Hatem - Rime El Sisi
About:
Khaled Saeed was sitting in an internet cafe in near his house when the two wild detective cops (Mahmoud Al Fallah and Awad Abdel Zaher) ambushed that cafe asking people for their IDs which is totally out of their authority and without legal permission.
Khaled did reject that way of inhumane treatment and consequently was attacked so viciously , was kicked in his chest and belly severely, and his skull was smashed with the marble bar before all people and witnesses in the internet cafe while Khaled was bleeding. Then savage cops abducted Khaled and put him inside the police vehicle to continue torturing him to death in the police station. Finally, they threw his corpse in the street to claim that he was attacked by some strangers in order to avoid responsibility. The cops were released few hours later and some protesters were arrested.
Shocking pictures of Khaled Saeed's body, whose face is almost unrecognizable from the beating he received has been posted on the internet.

(WARNING: THE PHOTOS ARE HARD TO WATCH)
On June 12th, 2010 the department of media and public relations of the Egyptian ministry of interior issued a statement denying the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations. The statement also claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal," with two convictions in absentia for theft and illegal possession of weapons, and that he had evaded his military service. It was claimed that Khaled had died of ASPHYXIATION after he swallowed a packet of drugs.
Khaled Saeed's death enraged many Egyptians, who went out on demonstrations protesting his brutal murder and demanding justice for Khaled and for his assassins to be judged - all the way up to the Minister of Interior, Habib El Adly. Khaled Saeed's murder was one of the reasons that started the January 25 revolution.

Raymundo (2003) is our first film.
Winner of 16 international awards.
Written, directed and produced by Ernesto Ardito and Virna Molina.
This is a documentary film about the life and work of Raymundo Gleyzer, Argentine filmmaker, kidnapped and murdered by that country’s military dictatorship in 1976.
Through Raymundo’s life, we follow the story of Latin American revolutionary cinema and the liberation struggles of the 60’s and 70’s. Raymundo was one of the major architects of the militant cinema, yet after his “ disappearance ”, he fell into oblivion.
It is essential that the new generation rediscovers his life and works which are a source of inspiration today more than ever . This documentary will bring back what the CIA and the Latin American dictatorships couldn’t destroy: the memory, the ideals and the courage to tell the truth.
We worked during four years on the research, recovery of archives an editing of the film, getting the support of Jan Vrijman Fund (IDFA - Netherlands), Fondation Altercine (Canada), and National Endowment of the Arts (Argentine).

English lyrics
In the evening my mother sang to us when I was a child
The story of a lost ship and a white bird
One day the ship departed to the ocean
And alone, a girls heart full of love is waiting
The sailor said to her: "Don't forget, I love you"
In the winter, in the spring she keeps waiting
She sees a white bird landing near her
Which wore a few words on the back of it's wing
La paloma adieu, goodbye, you are the one I love
My life is over, but do not worry much
Oh my love goodbye !
La paloma adieu, goodbye, you are the one I love
My life is over, but do not worry much
Oh my love goodbye !
Against her heart's desire, she takes the beautiful white bird
They both start a journey to the ocean
The love never dies, I have seen two doves
Flying to the sea as the night falls
La paloma adieu, goodbye, you are the one I love
My life is over, but do not worry much
Oh my love goodbye !
La paloma adieu, goodbye, you are the one I love
My life is over, but do not worry much
Oh my love goodbye !
--
The motif of "La Paloma" (the dove) can be traced back to an episode that occurred in 492 BC preliminary to Darius invasion of Greece, a time when the white dove had not yet been seen in Europe. The Persian fleet under Mardonius (a leading military commander) was caught in a storm off the shore of Mount Athos and being wrecked when the Greeks observed white doves escaping from the sinking Persian ships.
This inspired the notion that such birds bring home a final message of love from a sailor who is lost at sea.
