How Kim Jong Un executed his uncle, with starving dogs
AFTER North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un declared his uncle to be "despicable human scum, worse than a dog," details of his execution have emerged. The details were disclosed in a report, where unlike previous executions of political prisoners which were carried out by firing squads with machine guns, Jang Song Thaek was stripped naked and thrown into a cage, along with his five closest aides, the Straits Times reports. "Then 120 hounds, starved for three days, were allowed to prey on them until they were completely eaten up. This is called "quan jue", or execution by dogs."- published: 03 Jan 2014

NBC News picks up Hong Kong-based paper Wen Wei Po's account of how Kim Jong Un did away with his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, last month. Its report claims Jang and his five closest aides were set upon by a pack of hunting dogs that hadn't eaten in days as Kim and his brother, flanked by 300 officials, watched; the report hasn't been verified. Wen Wei Po, which has close ties to China's Communist Party, added Jang and his allies were "completely eaten up" in the "quan jue," or execution by dogs — a break from the usual execution by firing squad — over the course of an hour, the Straits Times notes. Though Kim has championed the execution, there's been no official word from Pyongyang on how it was carried out. The Times sees the publication of the account as an indication that Beijing is none too pleased with North Korea in the wake of the execution and "no longer cares about its relations with the Kim regime." This follows a previous report that claimed that two of Jang's top men who were killed prior to his own death were executed using antiaircraft machine guns.- published: 03 Jan 2014

Kim Jong Un orders uncle to be fed to dogs!
Kim Jong Un orders uncle to be fed to dogs!
Kim Jong Un ordered to have his uncle and rival, Jang Song Thaek, eaten alive by starving dogs, according to details of a report that have recently surfaced in English. North Korea confirmed last month that Jang was executed for an attempt to overthrow the government. Then news started trickling out that the young dictator had been locking horns with his uncle and the country's de facto number two over business deals. Later reports said Kim asked two of Jang's allies to hand over control of profitable businesses to the military and when they refused to do so immediately on the grounds they had to consult Jang first, Kim had them killed. Then Beijing-backed newspaper in Hong Kong, Wenweipo, published a thinly-sourced report saying Jang had actually thrown his uncle to the dogs. And not just a few. The uncle and five members of his inner circle were rounded up, stripped naked, then thrown into a cage with 120 dogs that had been starved for three days. Kim waited around until there was nothing left of the men, which took about an hour, and he supervised the grisly ordeal in the presence of 300 officials. (Brutal fear tactics, a little?) Now, since this is North Korea, absolutely nothing has been verified one way or the other, apart from the fact that Uncle Jang is with us no more. What makes things even blurrier is that the newspaper that published the details from the Wenweipo report in English is The Straits Times, a Singaporean newspaper, which has a staunchly anti-Communist editorial line. (Which is fishy because they normally wouldn't have much to do with a red rag like Wenweipo.) Some experts suspect that the Chinese actually released the story to the press as a way of letting Kim know that they're not happy with Jang's execution, relevant as he was their link to North Korean clams, crab and coal. Other folks think it's just the international press lapping up every disturbing detail published about the closed-off country because, you know, it gets clicks. But all we have to say is this: Hanging out with dictators is a dangerous activity indeed.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's Uncle fed Alive to Starving Dogs reported executed by hungry dogs
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's Uncle fed Alive to Starving Dogs reported executed by 'hungry dogs' BEIJING -- North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's powerful uncle was stripped naked, thrown into a cage, and eaten alive by a pack of ravenous dogs, according to a newspaper with close ties to China's ruling Communist Party. The report could not be independently confirmed by NBC News on Friday. The man who was believed to be in charge of training his young nephew to take over was executed as a traitor, indicating a shake-up in Kim Jong Un's regime. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports. Jang Song Thaek, who had been considered Kim's second-in-command, was executed last month after being found guilty of "attempting to overthrow the state," North Korea's state-run news agency reported. The official North Korean account on Dec. 12 did not specify how Jang was put to death. Hong Kong-based pro-Beijing newspaper Wen Wei Po reported that Jang and his five closest aides were set upon by 120 hunting hounds which had been starved for five days. Kim and his brother Kim Jong Chol supervised the one-hour ordeal along with 300 other officials, according to Wen Wei Po. The newspaper added that Jang and other aides were "completely eaten up." The newspaper has acted as a mouthpiece for China's Communist Party. The report may be a sign of the struggle between those in the party who want to remain engaged with North Korea and those who would like to distance themselves from Kim's regime. Slideshow: North Korea's young leader, Kim Jong Un The youngest son of Kim Jong Il succeeded his late father in 2011, becoming the third member of his family to rule the unpredictable and reclusive communist state. Launch slideshow Jang was seen by many experts as a regent behind North Korea's Kim dynasty and a key connection between the hermit nation and its ally China. In the highly scripted execution, North Korea accused him of "attempting to overthrow the state by all sorts of intrigues and despicable methods with a wild ambition to grab the supreme power of our party and state." Kim's government also accused him of of corruption, womanizing, gambling and taking drugs, and referred to him as "despicable human scum." Jang was married to Kim's aunt, Kim Kyong Hui, the younger sister of Kim Jong Il.- published: 03 Jan 2014
