Brett has more than 20 years’ experience managing personal injury claims and has a special interest in medico-legal litigation. His expertise includes medical negligence, product liability law and catastrophic injury claims, particularly spinal and brain injuries. Alex was admitted to practice in 2001 and has accumulated a high level of expertise in commercial litigation. Alex's litigation experience includes acting for a range of clients, including Liquidators and Underwriting clients, in relation to numerous matters in many Australian jurisdictions. Matt Arentz

Matthew was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2002 and has specific experience in motor vehicle accident claims. Max Basheer

Consultant

Since 1966, when he represented SANFL clubs and other interests in the Royal Commission into the Licensing Act in South Australia, Max has become an expert in all aspects of the Liquor Licensing Act. In addition to his work before the Licensing Court, Max has built a substantial practice in the preparation of wills, applications for probate and administering deceased estates. Patrick Boylen

Partner

Patrick has practised exclusively in the area of injury litigation since 1990. He joined Duncan Basheer Hannon in 1995 and advises clients on injuries under WorkCover legislation, third-party negligence claims and motor vehicle accidents. John Caruso

Senior Associate

John was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2004 and is a Senior Associate in our Commercial Team. He has expertise in commercial property transactions, the preparation and negotiation of leases for commercial, hotel and industrial premises, and conducting property due diligence for major commercial clients. His general commercial work includes liquor licensing, advising in relation to sales and acquisitions of businesses, shares and units in private companies and trusts, joint ventures, shareholders’/unit holders’ agreements and drafting security documentation. John has a keen interest in liquor licensing and intellectual property, particularly trade marks. Simonette Coppola

John Ferguson

Consultant

John joined Duncan Basheer Hannon in July 2008. He commenced legal practice in 1965 with Max Basheer and since that time has practised as a commercial lawyer specialising at various times in mining, taxation, corporations law (including public company capital raisings), finance and insolvency. His current practice revolves around corporate/commercial advice to the wine industry and sporting organisations, in the latter case specialising in corporate structure and governance. John is currently the solicitor for the South Australian National Football League and the Adelaide Crows. Legal Assistant: Yvette Oliver

Steve Nolis

General Manager

Steve Nolis (General Manager) joined the firm in February 2010 and is responsible for developing and managing the strategic direction, profitability and long-term growth of the Firm. Prior to joining Duncan Basheer Hannon, Steve held a similar role within the Human Resources sector, where he managed the state and national operations of a long-established and successful organisation. Steve holds a Graduate Certificate in Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Australia. He is also a Director of Community CPS Australia."

Peter Pedler

Partner

Peter Pedler, Partner, heads up the commercial and property division of the firm which has grown rapidly in the last few years and now comprises seventeen staff including ten lawyers. Peter was admitted to practice in 1981 and has extensive experience in commercial agreements, commercial and property transactions, corporations, corporate governance and due diligence. Peter advises a wide range of small and medium size businesses involved in commercial activities ranging from aquaculture to manufacturing, transport and logistics, hospitality and property development. Peter was appointed chairman of Scantech Limited in September 2005 having been a non-executive director for some time before that. David Tillett

Partner

David focuses mainly on liquor licensing, general commercial, conveyancing and wills and estates, and heads the firm’s Licensing and Estates Team. His directorships include Tillett Natural Stone Industries, Mintaro Slate and the Australian Yachting Federation, and he is a council member of the International Sailing Federation.
