Jan Hammer (Czech pronunciation: [ˈjan ˈɦamɛr]) (born 17 April 1948, in Prague, then Czechoslovakia, today the Czech Republic) is a Czech composer, pianist and keyboardist. He first gained his most visible audience while playing keyboards with the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 1970s, as well as his film scores for television and film including "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme", from the popular 1980s program, Miami Vice. He has continued to work as both a musical performer and producer, expanding to producing film later in his career.
Hammer has collaborated with some of the era's most influential jazz and rock musicians such as John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Mick Jagger, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke, Tommy Bolin, Neal Schon, Steve Lukather, and Elvin Jones among many others. He has composed and produced at least 14 original motion picture soundtracks, the music for 90 episodes of Miami Vice and 20 episodes of the popular British television series Chancer.
"Crockett's Theme" is an instrumental song written for the hit NBC series Miami Vice. The surname Crockett refers to Don Johnson's character, James "Sonny" Crockett. The initial version of the theme first appeared in the episode Calderone's Return: Part 1 – The Hit List which aired on October 19, 1984. The song was composed by Jan Hammer.
Although not a big success in America, the song was a smash hit in the UK, reaching #2 in the singles chart there. It was a #1 in the Netherlands for 4 weeks. It was not originally called "Crockett's Theme", but its success led Jan Hammer to feature the original version on his 1987 album Escape from Television.
It spawned many covers; the notable covers include Trance Atlantic Air Waves in 1998, released as a single.
Between 1991 and 1994, the song was featured in a series of adverts for National Westminster Bank in the United Kingdom, and was subsequently re-released as a single in May 1991 in the UK as a double A-side with Hammer's theme tune for Chancer. This time it reached #47 in the UK Singles Chart.
Miami Vice is an American television crime drama series created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by Michael Mann for NBC. The series starred Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami. The series ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984 to 1989. The USA Network later began airing reruns the next year, in 1990, and broadcast an originally unaired episode during its syndication run of the series on January 25, 1990.
Unlike standard police procedurals, the show drew heavily upon 1980s New Wave culture and music. The show became noted for its integration of music and visual effects. It is recognized as one of the most influential television series of all time.People magazine stated that Miami Vice was the "first show to look really new and different since color TV was invented".
Michael Mann directed a film adaptation of the series, which was released on July 28, 2006.

So for my live performance I made an arrangement that was influenced by both versions, but put my own twist on it. The tune ended my show in Dynamo, Turku, where this video was recorded 5th May 2012. Unfortunately, I only had three camcorders going and the heavy bass drum in the club made the cameras vibrate ...
Great 80's TV show titled "Miami Vice". Original music by Jan Hammer. Cover music arrangement by PSB. The film footage compilation done by Jessicacool90 . Produced by PSB (Paul Siwko-Bajon) and Michael Kastrup.
Crockett's Theme (2004) I added the new Jan Hammer's track to the video. It was made for the 20'th anniversary of the show. Yes, the original is better, but this is a nice try! Keep the spirit of Miami Vice alive! Download MP3: http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/69346871/file.html

Out of this mess comes violinist Jerry Goodman teaming up with Jan Hammer to record an album together in 1974. Here Goodman plays more than just violin, he also plays guitar, and while you expect Hammer to shine on keyboards, he shines just as great on drums, which people often overlook. Both sing, and while singing is never their high point...
The best of Miami Vice Jan Hammer soundtrack Jan Hammer is a Czech-born keyboard player best known for the theme from the Miami Vice TV series. Hammer's early career was with a jazz fusion group, the Mahavishnu Orchestra. He played keyboards for the Mahavishnu until 1973, playing on their two critically acclaimed albums Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire. After leaving the Orchestra he worked with a number of collaborators, including Carlos Santana and Stanley Clarke, and released several critically acclaimed and commercially successful jazz rock albums with Jeff Beck. Of their releases, the platinum selling Wired was the most successful, although a later collaboration with Beck, the track "Escape" from Flash, won Hammer the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental. **DOWNLOAD LINK AVAILABLE BELOW** This video was created by me. According to grandtheftwiki.com: Nightride FM was a radio station in Grand Theft Auto V, and its host was supposed to be DJ Kavinsky. Announced in early 2012 and confirmed by Kavinsky himself on his Twitter, the station has since then completely vanished and does not seem to be included in GTA V. http://goo.gl/H8Asfk But it is considered that it was just a publicity stunt by Kavinsky for his new incoming album "OutRun" at that time.
