The peacekeepers were attacked by a Christian militia known as anti-balaka in the capital Bangui on Wednesday. At least 40 other people have also died since Wednesday, Red Cross officials said. African Union (AU) and French troops are battling to end a Christian-Muslim conflict that has engulfed CAR. The AU has nearly 4,000 troops in CAR. France, the former colonial power, has also deployed 1,600 soldiers to help restore order. Militias from the Christian and Muslim groups have been involved in attacks and counter-attacks since Michel Djotodia installed himself as the country's first Muslim ruler in March, ousting then-President Francois Bozize, who came from the majority Christian population. Many Christians accuse the Chadian government of being allied to the Seleka rebel group which propelled Mr Djotodia to power, while Muslims allege that French forces are siding with Christian militia. Tension high The circumstances surrounding the death of the Chadians remain unclear. AU spokesman Eloi Yao said: "Yesterday [Wednesday] the city was in total chaos and this chaos lasted until the end of the night. Today we are trying to understand what happened." Heavy gunfire in Bangui had caused panic among civilians, who fled to the airport, which is protected by peacekeepers. "Around 40 bodies have been recovered for the moment, and first aid has been given to around 30 people wounded," Red Cross spokesman David Pierre Marquet said. As fighting subsided, French troops went out on patrol. French military spokesman Col Gilles Jaron said tension remained high in Bangui. Two days of violence earlier this month left about 1,000 people dead, according to Amnesty International. Today, after two weeks of fighting in South Sudan that is believed to have killed more than 1,000 people, representatives from both the government and rebel forces met in Ethiopia to discuss the possibility of peace.

But back in South Sudan, the fighting continued.

Both sides hope to gain territory to strengthen their position at the bargaining table. Rebels captured the city of Bor days ago; now the Sudan People\'s Liberation Army (SPLA) is trying to win it back. Bor is 125 slow, painful miles from the capital city of Juba—a trip made far quicker by helicopter. And so VICE flew to the front lines with the SPLA.

Huge march in Spain after ban on Eta prisoner rally

At least 100,000 people have marched through the northern Spanish city of Bilbao after a rally in support of jailed Basque militants was banned.
Permission had been granted only for a silent march but some demonstrators shouted slogans in support of the Basque separatist group Eta.
Victims of Eta violence said the march made a mockery of their suffering.
Late last year, Spain\'s high court ordered the release from prison of several Eta members.
It was acting on a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights, which found Spain had acted illegally when it retroactively applied legislation that stopped them being eligible for early release.
Many of the prisoners had been convicted of murder.
Eta declared an end to its armed campaign in 2011 after being blamed for the deaths of more than 800 people over four decades.
However, successive governments in Madrid have refused to negotiate with the group.
\'A double sentence\'
Between 100,000 and 110,000 people joined Saturday\'s march, sources in the city told Spain\'s Efe news agency.

Haiti remembers earthquake victims four years on

Commemorative services were held throughout Haiti\'s capital of Port-au-Prince today to remember the victims of the 7.0 earthquake that shook the country to its core in 2010.
Four years on and a lot of work remains to be done.
Residents try to pick up the pieces while the government and international community continue to struggle to answer pressing housing, health and food needs in the impoverished country.
Hundreds of thousands of people remain in precarious tent cities.
A staggering figure but a far cry from the 1.5 million left homeless immediately following the 12 January 2010 earthquake that killed about 300,000 people.
Despite billions of dollars pledged by donors to help Haiti rebuild, reconstruction efforts remain painstakingly slow, with only early signs of progress.
The recovery effort is one of the world\'s biggest humanitarian and reconstruction operations involving more than 12,000 aid groups.
But it has faced intense criticism that the international aid community has been too slow to shift gears from emergency aid to helping develop one of the world\'s poorest countries.
More than a half a million people still live in a critical situation in crowded tent camps, many without running water or electricity, 70% of the population is either unemployed or underemployed.

Latest violence in the Central African Republic | CAR unrest Kills Dozens For more Latest and Breaking News Headlines SUBSCRIBE to http://www.youtube.com/user/24X7BreakingNEWS Dozens of people have been killed, including six peacekeepers from Chad, in the latest violence in the Central African Republic, officials say. Although they claimed that they came from election and people should have no rights to overthrow them, millions of massive Thai people disagreed and were out on the streets risking their lives as they could not stand them to corrupt the country anymore. Rebels captured the city of Bor days ago; now the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) is trying to win it back. Bor is 125 slow, painful miles from the capital city of Juba—a trip made far quicker by helicopter. And so VICE flew to the front lines with the SPLA. "WHAT IS THE DEMOCRACY?" Thailand political crisis 2013 is another example of Dictatorial Democracy countries in this world. This Dictatorship is run by Thaksin Regime and his sister's government, Yingluck Shinawatra Administration. Although they claimed that they came from election and people should have no rights to overthrow them, millions of massive Thai people disagreed and were out on the streets risking their lives as they could not stand them to corrupt the country anymore. Whether the peaceful protests of millions of people can overthrow a shameless government is remained to be seen. We fully support the bravery Thai people and hope Thailand can reset and reform before the next election. January 3, 2014.

Huge march in Spain after ban on Eta prisoner rally For more Latest and Breaking News Headlines SUBSCRIBE to http://www.youtube.com/user/24X7BreakingNEWS At least 100,000 people have marched through the northern Spanish city of Bilbao after a rally in support of jailed Basque militants was banned. Permission had been granted only for a silent march but some demonstrators shouted slogans in support of the Basque separatist group Eta. Victims of Eta violence said the march made a mockery of their suffering. Late last year, Spain's high court ordered the release from prison of several Eta members. 'A double sentence' Between 100,000 and 110,000 people joined Saturday's march, sources in the city told Spain's Efe news agency. Billed as a march for "human rights, understanding and peace", it was organised by Basque nationalist and separatist political parties after a judge banned a rally calling for Eta inmates to be moved closer to their families. A prisoner group had dropped its demand for a general amnesty last month in an apparent bid to engage the governments in Spain and France, which also has a significant Basque region. One marcher, 52-year-old Itziar Goienetxia, told AFP news agency she lived in the Basque country and had to travel 1,200km (746 miles) to visit her husband in jail in the southern city of Cadiz. "It's a double sentence," she said. The victims' association AVT had applied in vain to have the march banned, saying it gave "grave offence to each and every victim of terrorism". "The only aim of the initiative is to pay homage to prisoners of the terrorist group Eta," it argued. Haiti remembers earthquake victims four years on Commemorative services were held throughout Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince today to remember the victims of the 7.0 earthquake that shook the country to its core in 2010. The recovery effort is one of the world's biggest humanitarian and reconstruction operations involving more than 12,000 aid groups. But it has faced intense criticism that the international aid community has been too slow to shift gears from emergency aid to helping develop one of the world's poorest countries. More than a half a million people still live in a critical situation in crowded tent camps, many without running water or electricity, 70% of the population is either unemployed or underemployed.
