World First Residential University - The Nalanda University In India
Nālandā (Hindi/Sanskrit/Pali: नालंदा) is the name of an ancient center of higher learning in Bihar, India. The site of Nalanda is located in the Indian state of Bihar, about 55 miles south east of Patna, and was a Buddhist center of learning from 427 to 1197 CE. It has been called "one of the first great universities in recorded history". Some buildings were constructed by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka the Great (273–232 BCE) which is an indication of an early establishment of the Buddhist learning center Nalanda. The Gupta Empire also patronized some monasteries. According to historians, Nalanda flourished between the reign of the Gupta king Śakrāditya (also known as Kumāragupta, reigned 415-55) and 1197 CE, supported by patronage from Buddhist emperors like Harsha as well as later emperors from the Pala Empire. The complex was built with red bricks and its ruins occupy an area of 14 hectares. At its peak, the university attracted scholars and students from as far away as China, Greece, and Persia.Nalanda was sacked by Turkic Muslim invaders under Bakhtiyar Khalji in 1193, a milestone in the decline of Buddhism in India. The great library of Nalanda University was so vast that it is reported to have burned for three months after the Mughals set fire to it, sacked and destroyed the monasteries, and drove the monks from the site. In 2006, Singapore, China, India, Japan, and other nations, announced a proposed plan to restore and revive the ancient site as Nalanda International University.

Pure Reble Happlily Poses for Us
This model is known as Pure Rebel on Model Mayhem. She is a very peasant and professional model to work with. In hind sight I wish I had spent more time capturing this video, but I felt a bit rushed and wanted to start capturing stills of this lovely model, which can be found on my deviantart profile under =DarrianAshoka: http://darrianashoka.deviantart.com/gallery/43021862 . Also there's some longer videos of her in the studio on La Zona's profile here if they have not been taken down, so if you want to see more of her check it out.
She has a great petite body. One of the best I've seen, and as you can see she's none too shy. A real Pro. I was probably more nervous that she was. She traveled down from Seattle to model for us here in Beaverton, OR. She said she also trains other models on how to pose and runs some group photos shoots in her area. She has a Youtube profile: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClpeZPgQzdA1alZBI5koe1Q?feature=watch
I had attended a group shoot with 10 other photographers and 6 models on 3/17/13 at a new photo studio in Beaverton, Oregon. They bring in models for a 3 hour shoot and help manage things. It was very well organized where we teamed up with another photographer and switched between 5 different setups every 15 minutes, which was really good pacing. I came home with 1,765 images, but about 100 of them were underexposed from the strobes not having time to recharge from the last blast, but not bad considering. Everyone involved was very nice and polite. It was a wonderful atmosphere. I cannot imagine this shoot being managed any better.

Halo Films Choice Point Showreel
“Choice Point” is a feature-length documentary film exploring the world of personal, transformational change. It considers how when one person makes small positive changes to their life, they can have a direct and positive impact on others. Ultimately, it shows how what we do impacts on others and that by changing our own lives for the better we can, in many ways change the world.
Choice Point founder, Harry Massey, came to Halo Films with his concept and vision of the Choice Point film. As part of the wider Choice Point Movement the film is supported by many public figures, includes a book release, a magazine and is the driving force behind a philanthropic social fund.
Substantial amounts of footage had been shot prior to Choice Point coming to Halo, and all on the Canon EOS5D Digital SLR. Traditionally a stills camera with interchangeable lenses, its movie mode has been developed to produce fantastic film-like quality footage. Halo’s brief was to pick up the existing footage and drive the film forward, working to a very tight timescale, and ultimately for worldwide DVD, Blue-Ray and social network release.
Stepping into the 5D world was a new venture for the creative team at Halo. Very few long form documentaries have yet been made on the 5D and we have had to overcome many various technical challenges difficulties in the new technology – not least the process of syncing separately recorded sound with that from a camera not primarily designed for shooting video. Shooting at Halo has traditionally used HDV formats on cameras such as the Sony EX1 and EX3. Moving to the 5D meant being able to exploit the stills capacity of the large chip lenses used in stills photography, to create a much shallower depth of field, and consequently a far more cinematic look that harks back to the days of 35mm film. Our shoots adopted a more dramatic, considered approach to our subjects and contributors, and thanks to the need to record separate sound, involved film-like disciplines such as marking scenes using a clapperboard.
Creatively, it has been immense fun and has given us the opportunity to work with some highly skilled people in the 5D world. The Halo team grew larger as Producers, Editors and Graphic Designers joined the fold to help produce Choice Point.
We tell the stories of inspirational people who have all made choices in their lives. Jodi Orton, a former senior paralegal from New Jersey, left the legal world to move into fostering and adoption. Jodi and her husband Bret, now based in Warsaw, Missouri, have fostered around 100 children, many of whom have inherent behavioural and emotional disorders. The Halo team went to the States to film with them over 5 days in October 2011. In addition we have filmed many great visionaries and thinkers about their personal stories of transformation, and have also had the enormous privilege of filming recognised global philanthropic figures such as Sir Richard Branson, Jean Paul DeJoria, (co-founder of Paul Mitchell Haircare), and Bill Drayton, founder of the Ashoka organisation in the U.S.
We also turned our Halo home into a studio, filming macro shots of oil dispersing in water, which will appear in the film as distant, far flung galaxies…
The film will be launched in Spring 2012 and will become the backbone of the Choice Point Movement.
Choice Point provides a scientific, self-help and human story platform to help people transform their lives for the better while at the same time showing them how to contribute to transforming the world in beneficial ways. Its mission is to make an impact at the individual level, which will in turn help to transform the world at a global level. It is based on the theory that by aligning with purpose, we each can help to bring the world into better alignment for a positive, peaceful future in which we can more easily solve the problems that currently beset the world

David Hopkins - How Social Entrepreneurs Are Changing Our World
At West Coast Green, David Hopkins, co-author of Tactics of Hope, highlights the work of some great social entrepreneurs, and offers suggestions on where social entrepreneurs can find funding. For in depth info on the social entrepreneur movement, read the book Tactics of Hope.
Lorna Li (LL): Hi There, I'm Lorna Li from GreenMarketing2.0. We are at West Coast Green, The Premier Conference on Green Building & Innovation taking place in San Francisco, today. And I'm here with David Hopkins, who was the co-author of the great book called Tactics of Hope; How Social Entrepreneurs are Changing The World.
So David thanks for joining us today. Let me ask you this. What are two of the most interesting companies that you've come across that are actively solving social environmental issues but also turning a profit?
David Hopkins (DH): Oh that's great. So there are two examples on the book that are particularly significant. One is World of Good. World of Good has recently partnered with eBay to distribute goods that are made, often by women, in developing countries who aren't paid a fair wage for themselves or for the products that they make. And World of Good brings those products to whole foods and distribution stores in developed countries at a fair price and pays the workers a fair wage. The second one is Brighter Planet. Is new credit card sponsored by Bank of America that everytime that you swipe for your purchases, instead of investing in mileage or shopping spree, they invest in carbon offsets to help solve global warming.
LL: So I remember, number years back. I used to work at a Social Venture Incubator that was called social fusion and what we do was we work with the start non-profit and for-profit enterprises and help them get to the next level. And what are the chronic problems that social entrepreneurs face is finding funding.
DH: Once a social entrepreneur has a business plan and strategy, the social entrepreneurs should go to one of many resources. One is the school, graduate program that can nurture that idea into a real business. And the other is that if you already have a two or three year experiences in growing up business go to Ashoka, the school foundation, Echoing Green, Draper Richards Foundation and many others that are featured in resources section of our book to support and get the funding that they need.
LL: I love your reference to actually going to a graduate program or going to school because you know there's something great about learning while you're earning. And there's no reason why you can't develop a great company or a product while you're actually in school. So thanks a lot for joining us today. If you guys are interested in learning more about social entrepreneurship or if you have a social venture concept of your own, I would highly recommend reading "Tactics of Hope" and heading over to the website and connecting with other people that also share your passions. You can go to tacticsofhope.org. Thanks a lot! This is Lorna Li from Greenmarketing 2.0 at west coast green. Bye for now.
Brought to you by GreenMarketing.tv. Special thanks to TacticsofHope.org
