The Corn Law debates
The Corn Law debates
In response to falling grain prices following the Napoleonic Wars, Great Britain imposed regulations, taxes and tariffs on grain in 1815. These became known as the Corn Laws. This action sparked a classic debate between free traders, most notably David Ricardo, and protectionists, notably Thomas Malthus. The law was eventually repealed in 1846, marking a significant step toward freer trade in Great Britain. As a result, grain prices fell and grain imports rose throughout the rest of the 19th century. http://mruniversity.com/courses/international-trade/corn-law-debates- published: 09 Sep 2013

"No Generation" Birdie Jo Live at Sam Bond's Garage
“No Generation” Birdie Jo- from the album “Transient Knows The System”
You don’t listen to a word I say
And when you do, you don’t get it anyway
We’ve got No Generation- To be like you!
We’ve got No Motivation- To be like
Your video eye watching me in your store-
So I just rip you off so I can even up the score
We’ve got No Motivation- To be like you!
We’ve got No Generation- To be like you!
You want to pass a law to legalize discrimination
The ignorance you force on me denies all my relations!
We’ve got No Motivation- To be like you!
We’ve got No Generation- To be like you!
=================================
This is a video from this year’s Birdie Jo reunion show at Sam Bond’s Garage, shot by Laura Strobel and Jill Catino on my iPhone. We opened for Petunia and the Vipers, and Mood Area 52, who was throwing an album release party for their new album “1952 Philanski House.” Every year I go back to Eugene for Thanksgiving, we have a big crazy feast at Michael and Leah’s, and Birdie Jo plays a show. It is always a high point of my year. My folks come down from Portland, sometimes my brother will fly in, I haven’t missed a Thanksgiving in Eugene since I moved to L.A.
Birdie Jo started out as a band in a movie. Our friend Laura wanted to shoot a short with Scott K., myself, and my neighbor, Ty Connor, as troubled band-mates. Scott and I stayed up all night and wrote “First Among Equals” in this freezing theater/garage loft I was living in at the time, for Laura’s video.
(Scott K. had a skate-punk band when we were in high school called Dogwater that kicked ass, I had auditioned to sing for them at one point. I played a song for them that I wrote called “Festival,” that sounded a lot like “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” by Bauhaus. They passed. Not punk enough. “Festival” became the first song for The Good Madmen, my first post-high school band.)
We shot a bunch of stuff with Laura, silly scenes of rehearsals, band fights and getting kicked out of John Henry’s (the OLD John Henry’s.) Scott K. and I wanted to keep rehearsing and writing new songs, Ty wasn’t that into it, he was writing and listening to Miles Davis on vinyl and didn’t really want to be in a band.
I had been working with Michael at the Glenwood Café, a 24-hour joint on Campus that was Christian-owned, but forgiving enough to have two white boys with dreadlocks running the floor. We would have late-night neighborhood talent shows in Michael’s apartment on a stage that consisted of a palette in the middle of a doorway.
I basically forced Michael to be the new drummer for Birdie Jo. He didn’t have a drum set, he just pieced together some suitcases and pots and pans and that’s how we started. I wanted to have a band consisting of people I admired and wanted to hang out with, I figured the music would come from there.
A super-hot blonde girl moved in next door to Michael. We had been staying up all night, riding our bikes through Eugene, going for midnight swims in the river, stealing ears of corn from the canning plant and throwing them like newspapers onto people porches. We drank Mickey’s Big Mouth’s and made a walkway in the backyard of the used screwtops. I told him if he didn’t make that girl next door his girlfriend, I would. Her name was Leah, he’s married to her to this day.
I had this vintage 1939 Epiphone F-hole archtop hollowbody that would serve as the Birdie Jo guitar, an unlikely axe for a punk-rock band. Scott K. could make that thing sing, we played over 200 shows on that antique. He played with a wiry, rough intensity, I plodded along aggressively on bass, with Michael flailing wildly on his pots and pans. We attracted a strong local following with our lo-fi brand of edgy punk, becoming the house band at John Henry’s, opening for some great touring acts, The Dickies, Zeke, Turbonegro, Heatmiser, The Stinky Puffs, The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, to name just a few. We usually played for free beer, and often left the bar feeling extremely well-paid on the rich array of strong, local microbrew beers that had become popular.
Scott K. had just had a baby with his wife Tracy, I was there the day little Ruthie was born. For all his hedonistic glory, Scott was a really responsible dad, driving trucks for Organically Grown Co-op, waking up at 4am 5 days a week. While we played a ton of local shows, Scott’s priority was his family, Michael was finishing college, and with the exception of one wild roadtrip Scott and I took through Mexico and Central America, we would never tour extensively.
We produced one album, “Transient Knows The System,” which featured a picture of the real Birdie Jo on the cover. Birdie Jo Hoaks was a woman who was arrested on Christmas Eve of 1995 in Salt Lake City for impersonating a young boy in order to obtain social services. She was homeless, and had sought entry into a woman’s shelter, but was turned away because

English translation :
Once upon a time there was a little bear, PIMELA (Spicy Honey),
who loved to drive her bicycle ;
unlike her sister, COGUMELA (Mushroom), who liked to walk.
But one day as she was pedaling,
PIMELA dropped by distraction her yell…and lost it.
Downhearted, overwhelmed, dowhelmed,
PIMELA felt the loneliest teddy in the world.
Hearing the tears echoing in the forest, the little animals,
- a fox named UVACEMA (Grape Lips)
and a wolf named CARNEIRINHO (Little Lamb) -
came out of the forest to comfort her.
UVACEMA, sharp little fox, took the bull by the horns
and convoked her friends to search for PIMELA's yell.
And so they scattered in the forest, looking for the lost yell.
"Yell ! Yell ?! Where are you, Yell ?!?! Come baaaaaaaaaaack !!!!"
That's when the clairvoyant BELA DA NOITE (Night Beauty) appeared
and said to have seen her cousin CORNELIA -who likes Jabuticabas-
with her sister in law BAMBINA -who is friend with the Tamandua-
play around with a little yell,
which has been stolen at this very moment by GRUMPY RABBIT !
But when PIMELA went to ask for her yell to GRUMPY RABBIT,
the latter denied all the facts outright.
Well, in short, they searched everywhere,
even in the most unexpected places, but without any success.
It is then that UVACEMA, sharp as always, said :
"What if we invented a new yell ?"
…
EUREKA !
THE END.
…oh! right…and they lived happily ever after.

Antimatter: The Future is Now Full Revision 1.1
http://www.movementforfuture.com/future-is-now/
Antimatter: The Future is Now is a free documentary which is an introduction into antimatter, asteroid mining, magnetic fields, space settlements/space colonization, space exploration, spacecraft propulsion, hemp, sustainability and self sufficiency. There is so much technology and science that exists, scientists even conclude we could settle space with rockets with present technology. There is a lack of public interest in sustaining civilization. How long did it take scientists to develop nuclear? That sure got a lot of attention and it did not take long. Born out of a small research program in 1939, the Manhattan Project eventually employed more than 130,000 people and cost nearly $2 billion. It resulted in the creation of multiple production and research sites that operated in secret.
Some near earth asteroids contain up to 20 Trillion $ in USD. There are practically an infinite number of asteroids in the universe.
I suggest researching everything and follow the science verifying the sources.
Bill Gates spends millions investing into toxic genetically modified corn to grow ethanol, when hemp produces 2-10 times more ethanol per acre in comparison, and is a lot less energy intensive. Hemp with low THC produces less seed compared to moderate strains of THC. Search Do it Yourself ethanol.
Today's world is very inefficient, toxic pollution is a big source of sickness and disease. Hemp products are safe, stronger, and last a lifetime. Hemp is the key to sustainability. I created this free documentary to share truth and educate others I did not create all the content I sourced as much as I could remember.
We need repeal of an unconstitutional laws. The prohibition against marijuana was unconstitutional from its inception.

***Please note my NEW CHANNEL-pomip1010.***http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2Sb_vvP8jUGGYwJ9UPyE7w/videos On the 16th of August 1819 the huge open area around what's now St Peters Square, Manchester, played host to an outrage against over 60,000 peaceful pro-democracy and anti-poverty protesters; an event which became known as The Peterloo Massacre. An estimated 18 people, including a woman and a child, died from saber cuts and trampling. Over 700 men, women and children received extremely serious injuries. All in the name of liberty and freedom from poverty. The Massacre occurred during a period of immense political tension and mass protests. Fewer than 2% of the population had the vote, and hunger was rife with the disastrous corn laws making bread unaffordable. BBC Philharmonic/Juanjo Mena.- published: 17 Dec 2013

12-string Guitar: The Meeting At Peterloo (Including lyrics and chords)
I uploaded this video a few minutes ago only to find when trying to add the annotations there was no sound, so I had to delete that and start again. "The Meeting At Peterloo" is another song from the book 'Songs And Dances Of England'. The song relates the infamous tragedy of a meeting held in Manchester in 1819 during which a large crowd of people seeking reform of parliamentary representation were attacked by mounted cavalry ensuing in a number of deaths and hundreds of serious injuries. Wikipedia has the following to say about it: The Peterloo Massacre (or Battle of Peterloo) occurred at St Peter's Field, Manchester, England, on 16 August 1819, when cavalry charged into a crowd of 60,000--80,000 that had gathered to demand the reform of parliamentary representation. The end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 had resulted in periods of famine and chronic unemployment, exacerbated by the introduction of the first of the Corn Laws. By the beginning of 1819, the pressure generated by poor economic conditions, coupled with the relative lack of suffrage in Northern England, had enhanced the appeal of political radicalism. In response, the Manchester Patriotic Union, a group agitating for parliamentary reform, organised a demonstration to be addressed by the well-known radical orator Henry Hunt. Shortly after the meeting began local magistrates called on the military authorities to arrest Hunt and several others on the hustings with him, and to disperse the crowd. Cavalry charged into the crowd with sabres drawn, and in the ensuing confusion, 15 people were killed and 400--700 were injured. The massacre was given the name Peterloo in an ironic comparison to the Battle of Waterloo, which had taken place four years earlier.- published: 28 Oct 2013
