Since 2005, John Keells Foundation (Foundation) is the vehicle through which the John Keells Group strategises, plans and implements its social responsibility activities in the areas of Education, Health, Community/Livelihood Development, Environment, Arts and Culture and Disaster Relief. Individual companies of the John Keells Group are at liberty to engage in community service activities which complement their respective businesses as well as the broad focus areas of the Foundation. The Foundation is duly incorporated as a non-profit company (Registration No. GA 2) and registered Voluntary Social Service Organization (Registration No. L-98004). Social responsibility has the highest commitment of the senior leadership and management of the John Keells Group, with Chairman, John Keells Group, and the other executive directors of John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) comprising the Executive Committee of the Foundation. While the Foundation has a Management Committee (MC), the Foundation's initiatives and activities continue to be handled by the Manager of the Foundation, with the support of a cross-functional team of senior executives drawn from various industry groups within the company. Each project is championed by a member of the MC and implemented by a project sub-committee comprising volunteers from across the Group. The MC meets monthly, the Foundation's activities are reported to the Executive Committee on a quarterly basis and its accounts are audited annually.
