"The Snail" William Kean Seymour Poem animation
Here's a virtual movie of of an exquisitely slooooooooooow poem"The Snail" by William Kean Seymour. A charming little poem that pays tribute to the much maligned and misunderstood snail.
Snail is a common name that is applied most often to land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod molluscs. However, the common name "snail" is also applied to most of the members of the molluscan class Gastropoda that have a coiled shell that is large enough for the animal to retract completely into. When the word "snail" is used in this most general sense, it includes not just land snails but also thousands of species of sea snails and freshwater snails. Occasionally a few other molluscs that are not actually gastropods, such as the Monoplacophora, which superficially resemble small limpets, may also informally be referred to as "snails".
Snail-like animals that naturally lack a shell, or have only an internal shell, are usually called slugs, and land snails that have only a very small shell (that they cannot retract into) are often called semislugs.
William Kean Seymour (1887--1975) was a British writer, by profession a bank manager.[1] He was a poet and critic, novelist, journalist and literary editor.

Nudibranchs
A nudibranch is a member of what is now a taxonomic clade, and what was previously a suborder, of soft-bodied, shell-less marine opisthobranch gastropod molluscs, which are noted for their often extraordinary colors and striking forms. The clade Nudibranchia is the largest clade within the heterobranchs, with more than 3,000 described species. The word "nudibranch" comes from the Latin nudus, naked, and the Greek brankhia, gills. Nudibranchs are often casually called "sea slugs", a non-scientific term. This has led some people to assume that every sea slug must be a nudibranch. Nudibranchs are very numerous in terms of species, and are often very attractive and noticeable, but there are a wide variety of other kinds of sea slugs, and these belong to several taxonomic groups that are not very closely related to nudibranchs. A fair number of these other sea slugs are colourful, and can be confused with nudibranchs.

Slugs Eating a Flower "Time Lapse"
I do not own this music, Benny Hill does.
Slugs are generally disliked by most people. When search for information on them, all I found was articles on how to kill them. Slugs are actually pretty interesting to learn about, so I was disappointed to see such a lack of information.
Slugs are part of the Mollusca Phylum along with clams, snails, and other mollusks; and the Class Gastropoda with other Gastropods (Stomach Foot) such as snails and sea slugs. There are over 40,000 species of slugs and snails living everywhere where there are plants. They eat plant material and pose a big problem for gardeners, because they will demolish large sums of plants. (Probably why everyone wants to kill them.
Slugs have two sets of "antennae" or tentacles. The larger set are the optical tentacles, which sense light. The smaller two are the sensory tentacles, which are used to smell. The slug eats using its tongue (Radula), which is covered in up to 27,000 little teeth. The radula scraps along the plant and pulls it into the slug's mouth. The mantel, which looks like a deflated shell, is where the mucus is produced. Since slugs are largely water, they would shrivel up if it weren't for there mucus (slime). When it is frightened or injured, it may even produce an extremely stick mucus that doesn't really come out. For centuries, Native Americans used the slugs slime as an anesthesia. There slime, if absorbed into the skin, especially in the mouth, can be used as a sort of local anesthesia (Although I don't condone licking slugs).
So that is Slugs explained!
