Skip Caray
Harry Christopher "Skip" Caray, Jr. (August 12, 1939 – August 3, 2008) was an American sportscaster, best known for his long career as a radio and television play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. He was the son of baseball announcer Harry Caray, and the father of fellow Braves broadcaster Chip Caray; another son, Josh Caray, is a reporter for All News 106.7.
Biography
Early life and career
Skip Caray grew up in baseball as the son of Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray, who would routinely refer to his son at 8:30pm during every broadcast by saying, "Good night, Skippy," a phrase for which Skip was teased throughout his adolescence.
He studied television and radio at the University of Missouri where he received a degree in journalism and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He began his career in St. Louis calling Saint Louis University and St. Louis Hawks basketball. In 1968, Caray moved with the Hawks to Atlanta, where he also called Atlanta Flames hockey games and did morning sportscasts on WSB-AM.

Skip Caray, the iconic Braves broadcaster, and Joe Simpson call the bottom of the ninth inning of game 7 of the 1992 NLCS vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates on the Braves Radio Network. The Braves rallied to overcome a two-run deficit and advance to the World Series for the second straight year, and with their magical comeback, also heralded a new era of 20+ years of losing baseball for the Buccos. The Cubs' 1998 home opener was unique in that it was the first since Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray passed away Feb. 18 that year. His widow, Dutchie, led the seventh-inning stretch with new TV play-by-play man Chip Caray, Harry's grandson, in the booth. Cubs starter Steve Trachsel had a hard time finishing the inning. He later admitted to being nervous as the crowd stood in anticipation of the third out of the Expos' half. It was a memorable rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
