You Got It All

"You Got It All" is a song recorded by band The Jets. It was released in 1986 as the fourth single from their debut studio album "The Jets" (1985). It was written by Rupert Holmes, most famous for the 1979 hit "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)." The song features the second youngest member of the group, then-12-year-old Elizabeth Wolfgramm, on lead vocals.

"You Got It All" peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in early 1987. The song also topped the adult contemporary chart for two weeks and reached number two on the R&B chart. It was also featured in the film Jaws: The Revenge.

Background

In 1997, Britney Spears started to work on her debut album ...Baby One More Time. After meeting up with producer Eric Foster White in August, the singer got to know the original version of "You've Got It All" by the Jets and decided to record a cover of the song. Steve Lunt, Jive's A&R vice president at the time, revealed that when the label's CEO "heard [the track] in the A&R meeting, he said, 'OK, we've got something.' Up until that, it was in doubt." "You Got It All" was originally intended to be released on Spears' debut album; however, it was only released on certain editions of Oops!... I Did It Again (2000).

Background and composition

"You Got It All" was written by Nasri, lead singer of Canadian band Magic!. On 14 October 2014, Union J revealed the name of the track via Twitter. It premiered the following morning on Capital FM.

Talking to Capital FM, Josh Cuthbert said, "This single, it's a really important one for us. It's finally the sound that I think suits us. We've gone back to our roots. On The X Factor we sort of stood on stage and just sang, and this is what we've done with this song. And we love it," he added. "It's written by a Grammy Award winner [Nasri], so we're extremely lucky and we've been in safe hands with Nasri."JJ Hamblett explained, "It's basically we've gone back to our old roots, it's a different lane for Union J," while Cuthbert added: "We feel like there's no other bands out there that are doing what this sound is, I think this is what we're going to stick with." George Shelley explained: "We've helped a lot with this song and it does mean a lot to us, especially to me since I have a deep connection with the lyrics within it. I thought of this one girl while helping writing it".

Åmøy

Åmøy is an island that is divided between Rennesøy and Stavanger municipalities in Rogaland county, Norway. The 5.3-square-kilometre (2.0 sq mi) island lies just north of the city of Stavanger in a group of islands. The islands of Sokn and Bru both lie to the west of Åmøy and the islands of Mosterøy and Rennesøy lie to the north, and the island of Hidle lies to the east.

Geography

The island is a long, narrow island with a very narrow isthmus in the middle. The western part of the island (Vestre Åmøy) is part of Rennesøy municipality. The eastern part (Austre Åmøy) is part of Stavanger municipality. Both halves of the island have their own chapel, Austre Åmøy Chapel and Vestre Åmøy Chapel. In 2014, there were 618 people living on the island with 328 living on the Rennesøy part and the remaining 290 people living in the Stavanger part. Austre Åmøy sorts under the burrough of Tasta.

The island was served by local boats for many years. In 1992 Åmøy was connected to the mainland via road bridge to Sokn, with further connection to the subsea Byfjord Tunnel.

Maya (illusion)

Maya (Sanskrit: māyā) literally "illusion", "magic", has multiple meanings in Indian philosophies depending on the context. In ancient Vedic literature, Māyā literally implies extraordinary power and wisdom. In later Vedic texts and modern literature dedicated to Indian traditions, Māyā connotes a "magic show, an illusion where things appear to be present but are not what they seem".
