RISE: Refugees Survivors and Ex-Detainees

RISE acknowledges that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the original owners and custodians of the land that we live and work on.

As part of the RISE Drop-In Centre, RISE maintains a resource library for our membership that aims to support and strengthen positive representations of our communities as well as provide members with access to a wide variety of materials that facilitate resistance to racism.

Joining the RISE Resource Library is free. The library is NOT for generating cultural awareness where “awareness” is a one-sided taking of our stories and experiences for external consumption with no lasting benefit to ourselves. We are for co-creating equitable relationships with those outside of our communities who understand, respect and wish to constructively address the need for a space like the RISE Resource Library. The library will also contain resources that help to facilitate settlement in Australia for our members.

Hours of Operation: The RISE Resource Library will be open for in-house browsing during regular RISE office hours (Monday-Friday, 9-4pm). Resources can be taken out of the library tentatively during the following times, when there is a library volunteer/ staff member present: Wednesday (12-4pm) and Thursday (12-4pm). To become a member, please visit the library on either Wednesdays or Thursdays between 9-4pm or email library@riserefugee.org.
