))))))))))))))))))) Best in 1080 HD ((((((((((((((((((((((( The West Somerset Railways Cambrian themed Autumn Steam Gala was to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of two independant Railway Companies in Mid Wales. The Newtown & Machynlleth Railway and The Aberystwyth & Welsh Coast Railway , which eventually merged to become parts of The Cambrian Railway Company. In 1922 it became part of the GWR and in 1948 British Railways. This celebration took place over 4 days from Thursday 3rd October to Sunday 6th October 2013, and The WSR renamed all it's ten stations with Welsh names for the occasion!! Guest loco's hired-in were: 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' from The Severn Valley Railway. 7822 'Foxcote Manor' from The LLangollen Railway. 7827 'Lydham Manor' from The Paignton & Dartmouth Railway. 5029 'Nunney Castle' masquerading as 5026 'Criccieth Castle' from locomotive services. Supported by WSR loco's: 7828 back as original 'Odney Manor' ( Norton Manor 40 Commando) 6960 'Raveningham Hall' 4160 5101 class. 9351.....Not shown in video. 3850 ....Not shown in video. 88 SDJR 7F. Shunting at Washford. Peckett 'Kilmersden' SDJR. Shunting at Washford. Due to work and other commitments i managed to squeeze 30 minutes at Bishops Lydeard on Friday afternoon the 4th October which amounts to the first two clips. The rest of the video was taken on Sunday 6th October at various locations on the line. Unfortunately on The Sunday i was harbouring the potentially 'deadly' condition known as 'Man-flu'...lol !! There are a few minor hiccups in the filming and you will notice these quite easily ! At least i admit it.... I think The WSR put on a great 4 days of gala action and were very lucky in having almost 2 complete days of perfect weather on the Saturday and the Sunday. West Somerset Railway 'Cambrian Railways' Autumn Steam Gala 2013
The Autumn Steam Gala in 2013 for the West Somerset Railway was to take on the theme of the Cambrian Railways on the Welsh Coast. As with previous events the railway renamed all stations to names that can be found along the route of the cambrain, most notable is Minehead being renamed as Pwllheli which was one of the termini of the Cambrian System, the other being Aberystwyth. Since Manors were a common sight on the Cambriain Railway as they were the lightest 'named' tender engine that could haul selected trains on the route the railway hired 3 guest manors to run alongside with resident manor 7828 'Odney Manor' The Full locomotive line up - |GWR Manor Class No 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7822 'Foxcote Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7827 'Lydham Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7828 'Odney Manor' |GWR Castle Class No 5029 'Nunney Castle'/No 5026 'Cricceith Caslte' |GWR Modified Hall Class No 6960 'Raveningham Hall' |WSR Mogul No 9351 (making its final gala appearance) |BR(W) 5101 Class No 4160 |GWR 2885 Class No 3850 (on Driver for a Fiver duty)* |SDJR 7F No 88 (shunting at Washford)* * - does not feature The video is filmed over Friday 4th & Saturday 5th October which consisted of a mixture of weather from sunny spells and light rain on Friday to warm sunshine on Saturday. Seeing as Manors are my favourite type of locomotive, this was one event I had to attended, even if it meant coming home from university! Shots in the video are in locomotive order and are as follows -- - 7812 charges up the inclince towards Washford with the 'Cambrian Coast Express' - 7812 departs Crowcombe Heathfield with a service to Bishops Lydeard - 7812 passes Nornvis Bridge with 'Sir Haydn' in tow - 7812 & 7827 double head pass Leigh Woods with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 7822 barks pass Leigh Loop with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 7822 barks towards Crowcombe with an express to Bishops Lydeard - 7822 departs away from Dunster with a train for Minehead - 7827 departs Crowcombe Heathfield with a service for Minehead - 7827 charges up the bank at Mineral Line Bridge with a service for Minehead - 7827 arrives then departs Washford with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 7828 departs Stogumber with a service for Minehead - 7828 makes herself known at Leigh Woods with a service for Crowcombe - 5029 eases pass Nethercott with a service for Minehead - 5029 climbs into Washford bound for Minehead - 5029 arrives into Dunster with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 6960 departs Watchet with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 6960 coasts downhill at Nethercott with a service for Bishops Lydeard - 6960 arrives into Crowcombe, bound for Minehead - 9351 coasts pass Leigh Woods with a service for Minehead - 9351 climbs the last few metres of Washford Bank with a service Bishops Lydeard - 4160 whistles for Leigh Woods with a service for Minehead - 4160 climbs towards Stogumber with a Bishops Lydeard service- published: 07 Oct 2013

West Somerset Railway - Cambrian Railways Autumn Steam Gala - Saturday 5th October 2013
This years West Somerset Autumn Steam Gala took on a Cambrian theme to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Newton & Machynlleth and the Aberystwyth & Welsh Coast Railways which later became part of the Cambrian Railways Company. The West Somerset, as with previous events, renamed all the stations to those on Cambrian routes, with the termini at Bishops Lydeard becoming Shrewsbury, and Minehead becoming Pwllheli. The railway also brought in four guest locos to compliment the home fleet of locos, three of which were Manors and the other a Castle. Since Manors were a common sight on the Cambrian, the railway decided to bring four of the preserved examples that are currently running together. The full line up of locos was:- |GWR Manor Class No 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7822 'Foxcote Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7827 'Lydham Manor' |BR(W) Manor Class No 7828 'Odney Manor' |GWR Castle Class No 5029 'Nunney Castle'/No 5026 'Cricceith Caslte' |GWR Modified Hall Class No 6960 'Raveningham Hall' |BR(W) 5101 Class No 4160 |WSR Mogul No 9351 (making its final gala appearance) |GWR 2885 Class No 3850 (on Driver for a Fiver duty) |SDJR 7F No 88 (shunting at Washford)- published: 06 Oct 2013

ALL ACTION The West Somerset Railway 'CAMBRIAN RAILWAY GALA' 03 - 06/10/2013
The WSR must be congratulated on putting this magnificent Cambrian Railways Gala, between the 3rd October and the 6th October 2013, accompanied by absolutely perfect weather conditions during my visit between the Friday and Sunday. All stations were renamed to those found over the Cambrian System to enhance the Cambrian theme, along with appropriate Cambrian Line Headboards, and visiting locos included no less than four Manors ! 7827 Lydham Manor, 7822 Foxcote Manor, 7812 Earlstoke Manor and 7828 Odney Manor. 5029 Nuuney Castle renamed 5026 Criccieth Castle for the event 6960 Raveningham Hall 4160, 9351 D&D; 88, Kilmersdon, and Corris Railway Sir Haydn ...a truly wonderful lineup. [HD] West Somerset Railway - Late Summer Weekend - Saturday 31st August 2013
My first railway visit for a month, and it was a trip down to the West Somerset for their Late Summer Weekend. The line was making use of its home fleet for this event, with four steam and four diesels in action. The railway was also trying out a new system with some of the trains during the day. Three of the steam hauled trains ran from Minehead, right through to Norton Fitzwarren, with engines swapping at the triangle. If it has proven successful, then it could be implemented for the Autumn gala in a months time. The full loco line up was:- |GWR Modified Hall No 6960 'Raveningham Hall' |BR(W) Manor No 7828 'Norton Manor' |GWR 2885 No 3850 |WSR Mogul No 9351 |BR Class 35 No D7017 |BR Class 42 No D832 'Onslaught' |BR Class 47 No D1661 'North Star'* |BR Class 52 No D1010 'Western Campaginer'* |BR Class 14 No D9526 (Driver for a Fiver)* *Does not feature- published: 01 Sep 2013
