Note from Ryan Lewis: It seems like when a music video comes out, the title that receives all of the credit and travels with a film is that of the director. It's as though the director is the "artist" or "creator" of the music video, when in reality a music video is first a written treatment, produced (putting together ingredients like actors and locations), shot and directed, cut on the editing board and finally color graded. The music might be fine tuned and scored specifically for that film. There are so many variables that are completely equal if not sometimes more complicated than directing, it's a shame that so much credit comes down to whoever fulfills that position. A director wouldn't have shit to direct without a producer. A producer would have nothing to produce without a writer, and so forth. For our team, I think it's even more complicated because roles tend to cross over. We simply don't work within the conventional hierarchy of the film industry (director, producer, etc.) Sure, people have concrete pre-defined roles based on their expertise, but our team has the remarkable ability to wear multiple hats. Can't Hold Us was a video that showcased this well. After three months of shooting, finally getting to those last few frames where you reveal the credits, it's a tense moment. There isn't exactly a sensible way to do it, if we're trying to fit people into classic film roles. It leads me to the point that although we do our best to give people titles, this was a video fully created by seven individuals at the forefront. Take any of those people out of the equation, you'd be watching a very different video. I write this in hopes that you don't fall under the illusion that one person creates a music video, particularly at the Macklemore camp. US Condemns Violence in Cambodia សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិកថ្កោលទោសអំពើហិង្សា US State Department has expressed its regret for the loss of life in Cambodia and condemned the use of violence in clashes between authority and workers. At least four people have been reported killed and 37 others wounded in a clash on Friday at a Phnom Penh garment complex. "We condemn violence as a means to achieve political or other objectives," Marie Harf, deputy spokeswoman, told a press briefing at the State Department. Recently it has been widely covered in the media that ~70 members of the US 7th fleet are suing TEPCO (the company responsible for the Fukushima for THREE BILLION DOLLARS. On paper they claim all sorts of cancer, however I can find no interview of anyone with cancer. Further the lawsuit doesnt say what the claims are for. What I do find is interview after interview of people describing non-quantifiable symptoms that are wholly inconsistent with radiation poisoning. The thing that bugs me the most here is radiation is being sold as the 'invisible boogey man' that causes all the ills that you cannot otherwise explain. Sure radiation can cause some serious problems, but then again so can asbestos. But this does not mean you can blame any unaccounted for maladies on asbestos or radiation! In Africa when anything goes wrong (crop failures etc), there are those only too happy to blame witches. The only thing different here is the boogey man is radiation. Welcome everyone to The Daily Reminder and our discussion surrounding Salaah & its importance in the 21st century. My dear brothers & sisters, in life it's important that we are dynamic in that which we do so that we do not become bored.When we do something in a static way we end up becoming bored and Salaah teaches us this all important concept of being dynamic. For in the worship of Allah (subahaanahu wa ta'ala) - through Salaah we see that Allah (subahaanahu wa ta'ala) has commanded us to worship him whilst standing during some periods & then to worship him whilst bowing during some period & then to worship him through prostration during some periods and then to worship him through sitting during some period. We worship Allah (subahaanahu wa ta'ala) using invocations, using recitations from the book of Allah (subahaanahu wa ta'ala) & even in that...we see the shariah teaching us how to be dynamic in that for in Salaah we are not encouraged to read just one surah but rather different suwar during the different salawaat. Even when we look at the invocations at the beginning of Salaah we find that Rasoolullah (ﷺ) was known to have more than one, he taught us more than one, even in rukoo there are more invocations taught to us by the Prophet (ﷺ) than just the common, subahaana rabbiy al adheem...after subahaana rabbiy al adheem there are other invocations to allow our Salaah & our worship to remain dynamic. Where we have constant interest & we are not bored. Allahu Akbar! When we study lets be dynamic in our study. Lets study through listening to audio for example and then study via reading from reading material and then lets us study by attending live lectures & sometimes online lectures. Lets us study sometimes as individuals & sometimes let us study as a groups...this way the process of study is dynamic & we don't become bored when we study. The same applies to our work, and what we do in our work & how we do it! For example when we train & go to the gym for example, this different exercises, we dynamic in how we train ourselves when we jog for example. Let us take different routes for example, so that the process of jogging also remains dynamic & we have a special interest in doing it every day. Allah (subahaanahu wa ta'ala) created us & he knows us better than we know ourselves & thus he has made obligatory this Salaah in this fashion & in this manner because he knows what keeps us interested and he knows what makes us bored. In 2013, Iraq faced its deadliest year since 2008. According to the United Nations, over 7,800 Iraqi civilians were killed in sectarian violence last year. Another 1,000 Iraqis serving as security forces died, bringing the total death count to nearly 9,000. Much of this violence is leftover from the American-led war that ended in 2011. A Worldwide Independent Network/Gallup poll found that 24 percent of people around the world think the US is the greatest threat to peace in the world today. The runners-up in the poll were Pakistan at 8 percent and China at 6 percent. Despite these findings, the poll also found that the US tops the list of where people would most like to live.
