  • Israel strikes Gaza, injuring at least 2 Palestinians
Ma'an News: "Israel's Air Force hit the Gaza Strip with missiles late Thursday, injuring two Palestinians and causing damage, the official Palestinian Authority news agency Wafa reported. F-16 warplanes bombed "several sites" in Gaza City, specifically in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, in addition to striking Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip."
  • Brother of Gaza Man Killed by Israeli Sniper Speaks
Raddad Hamad was collecting scrap with his brother Odeh when Odeh was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers on December 20, 2013. The brothers, according to Raddad, were a kilometer away from Gaza's Israeli-sealed border, which is the scene of frequent Israeli attacks on Palestinian farmers whose land has been confiscated or destroyed by so-called Israeli "buffer zones."

  • "Our freedom seems possible because you reached yours"
Message of Marwan Barghouthi, following the announcement of Mandela's death: "During the long years of my own struggle, I had the occasion to think many times of you, dear Nelson Mandela. Even more since my arrest in 2002. I think of a man who spent 27 years in a prison cell, only to demonstrate that freedom was within him before becoming a reality his people could enjoy. I think of his capacity to defy oppression and apartheid..."
  • In Memory of Dr. Eyad al-Sarraj
Dr. Eyad al-Sarraj, founder and director of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme and recipient of the Physicians for Human Rights Award, passed away on December 17. In honor of his great and many contributions, we share this 2012 interview, where he spoke about the impact of war on the children of Gaza.

  • An Overview: Apartheid South Africa & Israel
Israel maintained a close alliance with apartheid South Africa - one pioneered by Peres - even going so far as to help the racist white regime develop nuclear weapons. This fact sheet provides an overview of Israeli-South African relations during the apartheid era, and an examination of the comparison between apartheid South Africa's treatment of blacks with Israel's treatment of Palestinians today.
