Thank you!* To any of you who may wonder about me being a safe distance away from the truck or being where the crew can always see me, I am always at a safe distance away from the truck at all times and I always make sure the crew can see me, and of course I wear my City of Milwaukee safety vest when ever I film a City of Milwaukee garbage, recycle or leaf collection truck. A big shout out to the winter route crew of 32550 (Some unfortunate events happened with the normal driver and she had to take 550 back to the yard and they gave the laborer a new driver along with this truck) for allowing my friend and I to follow and film. Happy new year! Winter routes here in Milwaukee have started, that means different people on different route and also some new faces. Here is 32485 a Mack McNeilus operated on the 1-4 route on the blue day with a very cool crew! You may remember the laborer, he has been featured in a lot of my videos and the driver, he is fairly new, but he knows what he is doing and he was really chill with the filming! I guess this driver was a dump truck driver before he came to Milwaukee, he really knows his Mack and he really likes Mack. When the laborer was taking about the " 500 series" he was talking about the 17 (32510-32526 Mack LEU Heils Milwaukee bought such as 32517 and 32519 which the laborer drove both trucks, of course he didn't like them because he was writing them up every other day. This Mack McNeilus is one of eight trucks Milwaukee bought, sadly they are basically all spares, five or six of these trucks are here on the south side and the other couple are out of the north side as spares. I honestly like these trucks, packer is a good speed, except for the fact that when shaking the carts while packer is in motion, the packer stops until the tippers are done moving, I'm not so sure if all of them are like that. On another note, this was the same Mack McNeilus I filmed about two years ago during the summer, it made for a nice little short video but it just wasn't long enough, well here is a full length video of one of these trucks! On a side note, the reason why the strobes weren't on is because apparently they did not work which was a bummer. Here is what it's like in Milwaukee when it snows. The alleys are a mess and people don't shovel out their garbage carts, the crews try to get what they can but if it's buried in the snow or frozen to the ground, the crews tag them. It is very difficult for the workers when people don't make sure their carts are clear and that they have a path to walk on. It seems to me that people are so inconsiderate of the sanitation workers. These guys do so much hard work for their city and yet people still aren't satisfied with the service they get from these hard working sanitation workers, especially during/after snow plowing a major snow storm, these guys do everything they can, they have my up most respect with what they go through!
