The Environment Agency (Welsh: Asiantaeth yr Amgylchedd) is a British non-departmental public body of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and an Assembly Government Sponsored Body of the Welsh Government that serves England and Wales.

The Environment Agency's stated purpose is, "to protect or enhance the environment, taken as a whole" so as to promote "the objective of achieving sustainable development" (taken from the Environment Act 1995, section 4). Protection of the environment relates to threats such as flood and pollution. The vision of the Agency is of "a rich, healthy and diverse environment for present and future generations".

The Environment Agency's remit covers the whole of England and Wales; about 15 million hectares of land, 22,000 miles (35,000 km) of river and 3,100 miles (5,000 km) of coastline seawards to the three mile limit which includes 2 million hectares of coastal waters. In a sharing arrangement with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), it also exercises some of its functions over parts of the catchments of the River Tweed and the Border Esk which are, for the most part, in Scotland

Iain McDonald (born 14 August 1952) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a left winger.

McDonald began his career with Rangers and played in eleven league matches for the Ibrox side before moving to Dundee United in 1974. By 1976, McDonald had featured in thirty league games for The Terrors but injury forced the winger to retire before his 25th birthday.

Matthew "Matt" W. Davis (born May 8, 1978) is an American actor best known for his roles as Alaric Saltzman on The CW series The Vampire Diaries and Adam Hillman on the ABC series What About Brian.

Davis was born in Salt Lake City. He attended Woods Cross High School, and the University of Utah.

Davis is also best known for having played Warner Huntington III, boyfriend of Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) in the smash hit comedy Legally Blonde (2001) (opposite Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair). Other notable film credits include Blue Crush (2002) (opposite Kate Bosworth and Michelle Rodriguez), Tigerland (2000) (opposite Colin Farrell) and BloodRayne (2005).

Jacqueline Myriam McGlade (born May 30, 1955) is a British-born Canadian leading marine biologist and environmental informatics professor. Her research focusses on the spatial and nonlinear dynamics of ecosystems, climate change and scenario development.

She is the current Executive Director of the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following this appointment, she took leave from her post as Professor of Environmental Informatics in the Department of Mathematics at University College London.

Professor McGlade completed her BSc in Marine Biology, Biochemistry and Soil Science at the University College of North Wales, UK, in 1977. She obtained her PhD degree in 1980 on aquatic sciences and zoology from the University of Guelph in Canada. In 1987, she obtained a MA degree from the University of Cambridge in the UK.

McGlade’s PhD research on the mathematical and statistical analysis of the phenotypic and genotypic variability showed the critical importance of spatial dynamics in determining evolutionary divergence and ecological sustainability in freshwater and marine fish populations. This work led to her establishing the first population dynamics and genetics laboratory in Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
