Paolo Carlini (6 January 1922 – 3 November 1979) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in 45 films between 1940 and 1979.
Dario Niccodemi (Livorno, Italy, 1874 – Rome, Italy, 1934) was a novelist and a playwright who was born in Italy.
He spent his youth in Buenos Aires; he met the french actress Rejane in 1900, became her secretary and translated and adapted for her several Italian works. In this way, he learned techniques which he used later on, beginning with L'aigrette (comedy in three acts, 1912).
His comedies represent the bourgeois drama in an ironic and sentimental way, in which his characters are modelled on the society of the beginning of the century.
He founded a theater company in 1921, wrote novels (Il romanzo di scampolo) and two opera librettos, a scampolo with music by Camussi, and another, La ghibellina, with music by Bianchi.
He has written several plays and screenplays, including Scampolo (film, 1928), La nemica, L'alba, il giorno, la notte, La maestrina (film, 1942). He carried out the first performance of Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello at Teatro Valle in Rome. Among his fans was Leo Tolstoy, who wrote to prefer La nemica by Niccodemi to Pirandello's dramas of and to Verga's novels.
Lea Padovani (28 July 1920 – 23 June 1991) was an Italian film actress. She appeared in 60 films between 1945 and 1990. She starred in the film Black Dossier which was entered into the 1955 Cannes Film Festival. In 2006, Oliver Parker directed the film Fade to Black which was inspired by a fictional story involving the actress.
Paola Borboni (1 January 1900 - 9 April 1995) was an Italian film actress whose career spanned nine decades of cinema. She also made a substantial contribution to theatre.
She entered film in 1916 in the silent picture Jacobo Ortis under the directorship of Giuseppe Sterni and made over 80 film appearances between then and 1990.
Appearing in several silent films before 1921 she was absent from cinema for some 14 years during which time she made numerous stage appearances, gaining notoriety in 1925 when she appeared in a show in 1925 as a mermaid exposing her breasts which she saw as natural in the role but caused considerable outrage at the time. She returned to the silver screen in 1936 in the Mario Mattoli film L' Uomo che sorride.
She went on to appear in films such as the Carlo Lizzani directed film Ai Margini della Metropoli in 1952 in which she appeared alongside the main cast of Massimo Girotti, Marina Berti and Giulietta Masina. Between 1936 and 1956 her career was at its peak and her roles gradually became less numerous in the decades that followed, making a final appearance in the Giorgio Mosa film Blue dolphin - l'avventura continua in 1990.
