Impregilo S.p.A. (pronounced "Impregìlo", ) is an Italian-based construction and civil engineering business headquartered in Sesto San Giovanni, near Milan. The company was founded in 1959 and, through mergers, has grown to become the leading Italian engineering and general contracting group in the construction and environmental sectors. It has built a large number of major projects throughout the world including infrastructures, transportation projects, and environmental systems.
It is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
Impregilo, together with the Spanish company Sacyr Vallehermoso and other two companies (Belgian Jan de Nul and Panamanian Cusa), won the tender for the expansion of the Panama Canal due to be completed in 2014.
Impregilo is also working on the Gotthard Base Tunnel which is expected to be completed in 2015.
Impregilo is the lead partner in the consortium for the Messina Bridge project which, according to the announcement by Silvio Berlusconi on 6 March 2009 will now go ahead and be completed in 2016.
