Playing my 50th Birthday Guitar Bucket List Numero Uno: 1975 Ovation Preacher. Just got it back after a fantastic overhaul performed by the inimitable Nick Fanelli of American Ax in Dobbs Ferry NY. Nick whipped my 1976 Ovation Preacher/Viper hybrid into shape for me in 2012 (and my 1997 Gibson SG-1, 50th Birthday Guitar Bucket List Numero Dos), and this effort deserves further commendation. WHAT A GUITAR!!! Set up with 9s, all 24 frets leveled, ebony fretboard smooth as cocoa butter. Thanks to Lauren in E. Providence for hanging in there over last winter to sell me her baby--Craigslist does work and there are not only some great guitars out there but some pretty neat folks as well.- published: 31 Aug 2013

Jesse Ventura Conspiracy Theory - You ARE Being WATCHED (NSA)
http://watchoutnwo.blogspot.com/ (NSA) JESSE VENTURA THEROY.The National Security Agency (NSA) is the central producer and manager of signals intelligence for the United States. The NSA operates under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, and reports to the Director of National Intelligence. Estimated to be one of the largest U.S. intelligence agencies in terms of personnel and budget, the NSA is primarily tasked with collecting and analyzing information and data of foreign intelligence and counterintelligence value, including through clandestine means.[8] The agency is also responsible for the protection of U.S. government communications and information systems,[9] which involves information security, cryptanalysis and cryptography. Due to the organization's secrecy, NSA is at times explained to stand for "No Such Agency" or "Never Say Anything".[10] While the CIA serves as the national coordinator for human intelligence (HUMINT), the NSA is tasked with coordination and deconfliction of national SIGINT missions across the intelligence community, with all other government establishments being prevented by law from engaging in such activities without the approval of the Defense Secretary following consultations with the NSA.[11][broken citation] As part of these streamlining responsibilities, the agency has a co-located organization called the Central Security Service, which was created to facilitate cooperation between NSA and other U.S. military cryptanalysis components. The NSA Director, who is at least a lieutenant general or vice admiral, also serves as the Commander of the United States Cyber Command and Chief of the Central Security Service.- published: 26 Jul 2013

Ovation Viper (1973-75) 091313 No Such Agency
Ovation Viper (1973-75) Early model, maybe even a '73, with the original pick-guard with the "awkward" positioning of the PUP toggle switch--later models moved the toggle between the Volume and Tone pots. After purchasing a replica Viper pick-guard and wiring everything up I discovered much to my chagrin that the replica was set up with the "newer" toggle position and thus the whole shebang would not fit in the guitar's original routing, or in other words it would mean cutting/routing out a new notch to accommodate the toggle switch. After a little back and forth with my local Guitar Guru, Nick Fanelli, I agreed with him that with a Vintage guitar such as this it was best to keep it original. He figured out a way to repair the 40 or so years worth of damage to the original pick-guard with a not-too-inelegant fix, I wired and soldered everything up all over again, and Nick performed some further set-up magic and voilá, I have completed my little collection of Ovation electrics (for now): 1976 Custom Preacher-Viper Hybrid, 1975 Stock Preacher, 1973-75 Stock Viper. First time really playing it since getting it back from Nick. Neck is "vaguely" familiar (been playing my Preacher-Viper for 31 years), but the Viper is a totally different guitar otherwise.- published: 16 Sep 2013

ROSA
ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.
The short-film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year. Since it's world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, ROSA has been an official selection at film festivals around the world such as Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, Anima Mundi or Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. In October ROSA was screened at the opening night of the Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world's best festival specialized in genre films. Following the succesful festival run, the short film has attracted the attention of the major talent-agencies and Hollywood producers. Currently ROSA is in development to be a live-action motion picture.

A Boy And His Atom - The World's Smallest Movie
Directed by Nico Casavecchia
Production company: 1st Avenue Machine
Agency: Ogilvy & Mather
Animation studio: Punga.tv
My name is Nico Casavecchia and I am a filmmaker.
In November 2012, I received the most interesting commission of my career as a director. To work with a team of IBM scientists to create the smallest movie in film history. The idea was to use a "Scanning tunneling microscope", a tool that allows scientists to visualize and move individual atoms over a surface, to create a movie in stop motion.
As soon as we started, the challenges began to come forward. The first challenge was to create a common language between the scientists and the artists. After long hours of research and conference calls we started to understand the tools in the lab and the process of Andreas Heinrich and his team of scientists in California. Through this, we were able to define the limitations of the project. We had to create a film using no more than 5000 movements of single atoms, which was a huge limitation for the character design. Every element in the animation had to be very economic, so when it moved, it used the least amount of operations by frame. The second challenge arose from learning that atoms cannot be aligned orthogonally like the pixels of a computer screen, they have to be organized hexagonally like the bricks on a wall. This defined the kind of characters that we could create, their movements and the kind of story we could tell.
Once we knew the rules of the game we started thinking about stories that could be told within those boundaries. With Ogilvy & Mather New York, we arrived to the script of "A boy and his atom". The agency wanted a story that could be understood by any culture, without words, which could express emotions. Our objective was to tell something using such small amount of pixels and a single color. This led us to research 8bits video games from the 80s, that told amazing stories with such limited resources, like a space battle with only a small amount of pixels.
The next step was to travel to Buenos Aires, where together with the production team of Punga, we designed the characters and the animation that the scientists used as reference. After that, I returned to New York where a programmer created a software that allowed us to translate the Punga created animation into a language that the scientist's computer could understand.
In San José, California, we met with the scientists right before starting the next phase of the process. During that week I worked with Andreas and his team organizing the finite details. When I came back to New York, the group of scientists began their work. For over a month, they made shifts to create the smallest stop motion film in the world. When that was finished we reconstructed the animation frame by frame without adding any post production details, using just the images created in the lab.
The process of creating "A boy and his atom" was a collaboration of an incredible group of people. From the team in 1stAveMachine, the production company in charge of the movie, Punga, the Argentinian animation studio who did the animation, Ogilvy & Mather, the agency and especially Andreas Heinrich and his team in IBM.

The SoundWorks Collection talks with Supervising Sound Editor and Sound Designer Christopher Boyes about the his work on The Avengers.
Marvel Studios delivers the ultimate comic-book film, which ties together such characters as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) for a big-screen franchise team-up like no other. Taking center stage this time is Nick Fury (played once again by the note-perfect Samuel L. Jackson), leader of the peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury, along with former Russian spy Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), recruits a super team to combat Thor's ever-deceptive brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after he brainwashes ace archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) while stealing a cosmic cube from an underground base. Thus the heroes must learn to work together alongside outlaw scientist Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who can track down the artifact's gamma signals when he's not hulking out into a giant green monster. Show runner Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) adapted and helmed the script by Zak Penn.

UNBELIEVABE: NSA, FBI Secretly Mines Data from Major Internet Companies Google, Yahoo ...
'They watch your ideas form as you type': Leaked top-secret documents reveal how U.S. intelligence agencies are tapping directly into servers of Apple, Google and Facebook to spy on their users PRISM data-mining program was launched in 2007 with approval from special federal judges Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Skype, AOL and PalTalk are involved in spying program Details of data collection were outlined in classified 41-slide PowerPoint presentation that was leaked by intelligence officer PRISM was exposed one day after it was revealed that NSA has been collecting telephone records of Verizon customers WashingtonPost. The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track foreign targets, according to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post. The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. The NSA prides itself on stealing secrets and breaking codes, and it is accustomed to corporate partnerships that help it divert data traffic or sidestep barriers. But there has never been a Google or Facebook before, and it is unlikely that there are richer troves of valuable intelligence than the ones in Silicon Valley. 'No Such Agency' spies on the communications of the world The National Security Agency, nicknamed such for years, is the U.S. government's eavesdropper-in-chief. If document requiring company to submit phone records for millions of Americans is authentic, it would be the broadest surveillance order known to date. All about the NSA surveillance program. What has the government been doing? Is it legal? Does it mean some bureaucrat somewhere has heard all your phone calls? Read on to find out. Administration, lawmakers defend NSA program to collect phone logs The National Security Agency secretly collected phone records of millions of Verizon customers. Equally unusual is the way the NSA extracts what it wants, according to the document: "Collection directly from the servers of these U.S. Service Providers: Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple." PRISM was launched from the ashes of President George W. Bush's secret program of warrantless domestic surveillance in 2007, after news media disclosures, lawsuits and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court forced the president to look for new authority. Congress obliged with the Protect America Act in 2007 and the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, which immunized private companies that cooperated voluntarily with U.S. intelligence collection. PRISM recruited its first partner, Microsoft, and began six years of rapidly growing data collection beneath the surface of a roiling national debate on surveillance and privacy. Late last year, when critics in Congress sought changes in the FISA Amendments Act, the only lawmakers who knew about PRISM were bound by oaths of office to hold their tongues. The court-approved program is focused on foreign communications traffic, which often flows through U.S. servers even when sent from one overseas location to another. Between 2004 and 2007, Bush administration lawyers persuaded federal FISA judges to issue surveillance orders in a fundamentally new form. Until then the government had to show probable cause that a particular "target" and "facility" were both connected to terrorism or espionage. In four new orders, which remain classified, the court defined massive data sets as "facilities" and agreed to certify periodically that the government had reasonable procedures in place to minimize collection of "U.S. persons" data without a warrant. In a statement issue late Thursday, Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper said "information collected under this program is among the most important and valuable foreign intelligence information we collect, and is used to protect our nation from a wide variety of threats. The unauthorized disclosure of information about this important and entirely legal program is reprehensible and risks important protections for the security of Americans." Clapper added that there were numerous inaccuracies in reports about PRISM by The Post and the Guardian newspaper, but he did not specify any.- published: 07 Jun 2013
