With 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi opening this weekend, a few days ago I sat down with director Michael Bay in Miami for an exclusive video interview. He talked about the responsibility of telling a story about real life heroes, memorable moments from filming, why they used digital cameras, his first cut of the film, future Transformers movies (including if Transformers 5 is his last one and spinoff films), and a lot more.
If you’re not familiar with 13 Hours, the film tells the story of the members of a security team tasked with surviving the chaotic events on September 11, 2012 after the attack on the United States embassy in Benghazi, Libya that led to the death of four Americans, among them Ambassador Chris Stevens. The movie is adapted by Chuck Hogan from Mitchell Zuckoff’s book, and stars John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, Max Martini, Pablo Schreiber, and David Denman.
While Benghazi has been in the news since the tragic events unfolded that night, few have talked about the real life heroes that saved countless lives. While you might be surprised to hear this, Michael Bay has done a great job telling their story without politicizing the issue or “Hollywoodizing” the events. It’s easily one of his best films and absolutely worth your time and money.

Bay 13 is a section of tiered seating at the Melbourne Cricket Ground that occupies part of the Great Southern Stand behind the slips for a right-handed batsman, usually where third man is fielding. It is well known in the cricket world as a centre for rowdy spectators to congregate at the cricket and participate in practices such as Mexican waves, beach ball throwing and other disorderly conduct, often including abuse chanting towards opposition players.
Historically, Bay 13 is unofficially seen as an important part of the MCG's atmosphere and environment. Iconic pictures are regularly repeated in cricket coverage of the crowd mimicking Merv Hughes' warm up stretches in front of the Bay 13 mob.
Bay 13 is situated almost opposite across the ground from the members stand and despite efforts to tame the behaviour of the crowd from this section of the ground, it has the worst behaved crowds of all the cricketing venues in the country. Particularly in recent times the section has been criticised for poor and drunken behaviour. In January 1999, Shane Warne was forced to come out of the change rooms and don a helmet in an attempt to calm the crowd who had disrupted a one-day match by throwing bottles onto the pitch. A string of incidents involving projectiles being thrown onto the MCG playing arena during one-day internationals in the late 1990s and early 2000s prompted authorities to beef up security presence around the Bay 13 area, which has led to a reduction of Bay 13 hooliganism in recent years. However, unruly crowds are becoming more of a problem at Victorian Bushrangers home games, which can attract huge crowds but have only a minuscule security presence compared to international games.

Michael Benjamin Bay (born February 17, 1965) is an American film director and producer. He is known for directing high-budget action films characterized by their fast edits, stylistic visuals and substantial practical special effects. His films, which include The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and the Bad Boys and Transformers series, have grossed over three billion dollars world-wide. He is co-founder of commercial production house The Institute, a.k.a. The Institute for the Development of Enhanced Perceptual Awareness. He is co-chair and part-owner of the digital effects house Digital Domain. He co-owns Platinum Dunes, a production house which has remade horror movies including Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Michael Bay was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He was raised by his adoptive parents Harriet, a bookstore owner/child psychiatrist, and Jim, a CPA. Bay's grandfather was Russian. His cousin, Susan Bay, is the wife of Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy. He attended the exclusive Crossroads School, in Santa Monica, California. Bay often traces his interest in action films back to an incident during his childhood. As a boy, he attached some firecrackers to a toy train and filmed the ensuing fiery disaster with his mother's 8mm camera. The fire department was called and he was grounded.

While Benghazi has been in the news since the tragic events unfolded that night, few have talked about the real life heroes that saved countless lives. While you might be surprised to hear this, Michael Bay has done a great job telling their story without politicizing the issue or “Hollywoodizing” the events. It’s easily one of his best films and absolutely worth your time and money.

If you’re not familiar with 13 Hours, the film tells the story of the members of a security team tasked with surviving the chaotic events on September 11, 2012 after the attack on the United States embassy in Benghazi, Libya that led to the death of four Americans, among them Ambassador Chris Stevens. The movie is adapted by Chuck Hogan from Mitchell Zuckoff’s book, and stars John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, Max Martini, Pablo Schreiber, and David Denman.
While Benghazi has been in the news since the tragic events unfolded that night, few have talked about the real life heroes that saved countless lives. While you might be surprised to hear this, Michael Bay has done a great job telling their story without politicizing the issue or “Hollywoodizing” the events. It’s easily one of his best films and absolutely worth your time and money.

Tjörnin is located in the centre of the city, a wonderful small lake surrounded by spacious parks and the new City Hall is also located there. Krists Kirkja is the city’s main Catholic church and in 1989 the Pope preached within its walls marking the first visit of the Pontificate to Iceland. Narrow elegant bridges span across the splendid ponds of the Botanical Garden, a popular destination for the inhabitants of Reykjavik. However, small forests of conifers are the only real sign of nature on this remote and barren island. Chimneys are a rarity in Reykjavik. The majority of its houses are heated by geothermic water. Indeed, many of its pavements and streets are heated, a convenient asset that saves much money on snow clearance and makes life a lot easier for the local population. In Iceland the summer months are bright but in spring and autumn there are long periods when there is little daylight. July is the time of the famous midnight sun and thanks to the Gulf Stream the island enjoys a relatively temperate climate with cool summers and quite mild winters. Historic sights, hi-tech buildings and the charm of a small town. All this is Reykjavik, a remote metropolis built on fire and ice!t metropolises on Earth. During the past decade I've traveled in Southeast Asia more than any other region in the world. If I were to recommend one country to visit my shortlist would certainly include Vietnam. From Hanoi to Saigon - or vice versa - there are few countries that offer as much diversity. The following top attractions travel guide outlines all of the best things to do while traveling in Vietnam:
1) I've honestly never met anyone who has regretted visiting Ha Long Bay. With stunning karst peaks and adventure sports aplenty it's the kind of place where you can relax on a boat for several days and not want to come back to land anytime soon.
2) When based in Hoi An there are a plethora of attractions and landmarks worth visiting. Whether on foot - or on a bike - make sure to check out the Japanese covered bridge, Quang Dong Assembly hall and the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese.
3) I've heard of people who literally fly to Vietnam to have an entire wardrobe made. No place in Vietnam is more famous for its custom made tailors than Hoi An. From dresses to shirts and shoes to purses you can get just about anything made here for less than what you'd likely pay back home.
4) Feasting on Vietnamese local delights should be a top priority for anyone visiting the country and what better way to do it than by visiting a local organic farm. Nestled just outside of Hoi An we visited Tra Que for some amazing Vietnamese cuisine.
5) For those with an adventurous streak having the opportunity to cruise down the Mekong Delta on a boat is an experience you'll never forget. To avoid getting a sunburn be sure to put on a conical hat - it only costs about a dollar!
6) If you've ever wondered what it is like to be in a dynamic and chaotic city look no further than Saigon. With plenty of attractions ranging from shopping to museums, there is never a shortage of things to do in the city.
7) Taking the bus in Vietnam is a bit of a nightmare considering the road conditions, traffic congestion and liberal use of the horns. The alternative? Taking a train. Our of our favorite train trips in Vietnam was traveling from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) to Nha Trang.
8) For the adventure sports junky the opportunity to go sea kayaking in Ha Long Bay is not to be missed. If you take a boat tour around Ha Long Bay for 2 to 3 days it should almost certainly be included on your itinerary.
9) Eating authentic and cheap Vietnamese cuisine is one of the things I miss the most about traveling in Vietnam. If you head over to the Bale Wel in Hoi An you can make yourself special rolls with country pancakes, spring rolls, satay, kimchi and other ingredients.
10) If there is one place in Vietnam I'd recommend more than anywhere else it is hands down Sapa. With breathtaking scenery, rolling hills and rice terraces it is worth exploring either on a one day hike or a several day trekking expedition. In this section we show you our first leg of the journey heading from Sapa to Lao Chai village.
11) If you have the opportunity be sure to listen to a live performance of traditional Vietnamese music.
12) The floating markets in the Mekong Delta region are fascinating. Bustling with activity you'll have a chance to purchase iced coffee and other refreshments.
13) Checking out the Central market in Hoi An allows you to experience what a local market is like versus one aimed towards a tourist.
14) Having the chance to learn how to cook and prepare Vietnamese cuisine is inexpensive and fun. There are plenty of cooking schools to choose from but we decided to go with Green Moss.
15) I've already waxed on and marveled about Sapa but it is worth mentioning again that if you have the opportunity to linger be sure to get a hotel room with a view.
16) Finally, we prefer the trains but taking a night bus - at least once - in Vietnam is certainly an experience you'll never forget. With all of the swerving and honking don't expect to get much sleep.

The average annual temperature is 21.5°C (71°F), with daytime maxima peaking from January to March at 29°C (84°F), and the minimum is 21°C (70°F), dropping to daytime highs from June to August of 23°C (73°F) and a minimum of 12°C (53°F). Sunrise is at 04h45 and sunset at 19h00 in summer. In winter sunrise is at 06h20 and sunset at 17h00. Richards Bay is a popular kitesurfing destination thanks to consistent winds blowing from the North East.
The Richards Bay area is generally very flat and is situated on a coastal plain. The terrain rises slightly towards the west. The suburbs are all no more than a few metres (Reneging around 140m) (feet 459.3ft) above sea level. The area is abundant in coastal dune forest, most notably along the coastal dune belt and in the suburb of Meerensee.

Popular tourist city with many beach resorts and seafood restaurants. Very nice surrounding islands and beaches. Also very clean and no smoking city. You can only smoke in designated areas, and no littering, otherwise you can be fined. We organized our activities through a local travel agent.

Its important to have photo ID for flights, hotels, and if police ask.
Its common for taxi drivers in Manila to try rip you off. Ask them nicely to put the meter on, or negotiate the price from the start if you know what it costs to your location. Otherwise find another taxi!
Shopping mall culture, locals love the mall for the aircon and to get out of the heat.
Locals often inflate prices for foreigners and tourists. Haggle and negotiate nicely. Be tough, but be respectful and polite about it. Shop around, you can often get a better price.
"Tip" can also mean bribe, so don't be afraid to ask what you're paying for upfront. Locals often do things to try help you, but then expect a tip.
The average basic worker earns PHP 300 a day. So tipping PHP 20 - 50 is fine.

The capital of Corsica Ajaccio with its 60000 residents lies in the northern part of the bay of the same name. It's surrounded by a ring of green mountains, the background given by the Monte d'Oro. Here's the seat of the parliament of the province where they deal with the issues of the whole country. Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio and his name is associated inseparably with the name of the city. Here, everything is reminiscent of the ruler. But the city with its southern bustle is worth visiting for its other sites as well. The predecessor of Ajaccio was founded by the Greek. It was completely destroyed by the Sarcens and then it was revived by the Genoans. On the upper end of Austerlitz square, an enormous Napoleon monument is to be seen. The Bonapartes traced back their family tree to the last Roman ruling house.
The aristocratic family of Florence moved to Corsica in the 16th century. The lawyer Carlo Bonaparte married Letitzia here, the daughter of a wealthy family of Ajaccio with Saracen origins. 13 children were born of their marriage, but five died young. They sent their second son, Napoleon to a French military school to learn French in addition to his native Italian language. The Napoleon Museum has been established in the city hall. Original furniture, statues and paintings commemorate the commander who was already a first lieutenant of the artillery when the great French revolution broke out. In 1793, as the commander of an artillery battery, he forced Toulone to surrender and for this, he was appointed brigadier general. For his services, he was soon appointed the chief commander of the army against the Italians.
Before he departed to the battlefield, he married the widow of an executed nobleman, Josephine who was six years his senior. Napoleon piled on successes one after the other. He won every battle with his strategic genius. Returning home, he overthrew the directory and as first consul, he practically became the leader of the state. In 1804, he proclaimed himself, eternal French emperor which was confirmed by the people with a 3.5 million vote. Pope Pius VII anointed him in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and then Napoleon placed the crown on his own and his wife's head. He put his family members, siblings and brothers in law on the thrones of Sicily, Spain, Holland, Naples and Westfalia. Because they didn't have children, he divorced Josephine and married the young daughter of Emperor Franz of Austria, Marie Louise who gave him an heir to the throne.
He was the prince of --. It was he about who the French poet, Edmund Rostandt wrote his romantic drama, the Eaglet. The cold of the Russian winter won a victory even over the troops of Napoleon. Out of the half million soldiers of the Grande Armie, only 8000 returned. The emperor was forced to resign from the throne and he was exiled to the island of Elba. One year later, he returned to Paris to his 100 days reign but after losing the battle of waterloo, he was permanently exiled to the island of St. Helena. He died six years later. He was buried in the church of the invalid in Paris with a luxurious ceremony. The birth house of Napoleon became the possession of the family in 1743. In the rooms, furnished in Italian style, we can find the family tree, paintings and coat of arms of the Bonapartes. Besides the salon, the dining room, and the hall, they also show the room where the emperor was born.

Invented in 1873, cable cars are one of only two "moving" National Historic Landmarks in the United States.
Besides the cable cars, the city also has historic streetcars which make inner city travel a breeze. The MUNI bus and BART underground train systems are also easy to use.
No trip to San Francisco would be complete without seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. Walking or driving across it is amazing, but for the best photos, head to the Torpedo Wharf just off the San Francisco Bay Trail.
The Golden Gate may be San Francisco's most famous bridge,—but don't forget about the Bay Bridge which is outfitted with 25,000 LED lights, making it the largest public light display in the world!

A brisk walk further north up the Embarcadero lands you at Pier 15, home to the new Exploratorium interactive, all-ages science museum. And right next door to that is a chocolate lovers dream, TCHO. This chocolate factory offers free tours and it's a great way to learn about the history of chocolate and taste some free samples!
San Francisco is well known as a foodie's paradise but meals are enjoyed best when washed down with a perfectly crafted cocktail. Invented at the end of the 19th century right in San Francisco, the Pisco Punch, a grape brandy cocktail, is a must for visitors to the Bay Area. For an escape from the city's hustle and bustle, there's no better place than Golden Gate Park. The park is enormous, and used by all manner of locals and visitors, whether they're looking for cultural attractions, a good workout or a quiet picnic. The park is so large that it even features a paddock of live buffalo, and two impressive Dutch windmills.
The California Academy of Sciences museum is also located within Golden Gate Park. It's one of the largest natural history museums in the world, and features an aquarium, planetarium and an indoor rainforest.
Across the street is the striking de Young Museum with its copper facade. Inside you'll find an assortment of African, Pacific and American art.
Nearby, and still in the park, is the Japanese Tea Garden. Originally designed for the 1894 World's Fair, the garden will transport you across the Pacific with its pagodas and arched drum bridge.
Finally, every traveler visiting San Francisco should spend some time in jail. San Francisco's most famous penitentiary, Alcatraz, makes for a great day trip, but purchase your tickets in advance as it sells out quickly.
San Francisco has it all: from history to food, from nightlife to culture. The lively city centre is a mixture of both old and new with modern concrete houses located next to simple wooden huts and congested streets with numerous small shops and street traders.Close to Falmouth, there’s the excitement of Martha Brae River Rafting which is an excellent way to explore this tropical paradise in which dense tropical rain forest shows off all its spectacular colours. It was here on the north coast that Christopher Columbus landed in1502 and where the Spanish were defeated by the British in a bloody battle for sovereign control of the island. Dunn`s River Falls is the name of a waterfall near to Ochos Rios, one of the island’s most well known natural attractions. In swimming attire, more than a million annual visitors attempt to climb through spraying torrents of water whilst linking hands in a human chain. In foaming cascades, the water plunges 200 metres down toward the sea over step-shaped limestone blocks and across an overgrown landscape of ferns and plants. Harmony Hall, a Victorian building that is a reminder of British colonial rule, is the name of an immaculate manor house located on a turn of the century plantation. Today it contains a handicraft centre and also a gallery which displays the works of indigenous artists. James Bond Beach is the name of the former winter retreat of the English author, Ian Fleming, who created British secret agent, James Bond. The famous author wrote most of his fourteen 007 novels on the small island of Golden Eye, of which five were set in Jamaica. Expansive fields of coconut palms dominate the Sun Valley Plantation which continues a tradition that dates back 250 years. In addition to bananas, citrus fruits, papayas, melons and apples, various spices are also cultivated on the plantation. World famous for their coffee beans, the Blue Mountains represent breathtaking primeval nature with a hint of adventure, a further experience in this sun-scorched island of dreams.

A little outside the city is an attraction that is a meeting place for one and all, The Blue Lagoon, the largest bath tub in the world! The mineral water it contains has a temperature of forty degrees centigrade and the milky-blue pool has been proven to possess beneficial healing qualities. Southeast of The Blue Lagoon is Hveragerdi that is set within an idyllic valley. Due to its protected location and numerous thermal springs, in 1929 a garden city originated there and within its many greenhouses grow vegetables, fruit and exotic flowers. The small coastal picturesque village of Vik with its few houses and around three hundred inhabitants is located in a valley close to a bay. The mystical looking rocks seem to protect this place that has the most rainfall in what is an already rainy region and above which the rain clouds are often alive with both thunder and lightning. The mystical looking rocks seem to protect this place that has the most rainfall in what is an already rainy region and above which the rain clouds are often alive with both thunder and lightning. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and part of Vân Đồn District. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Hạ Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.
Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960--2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Hạ Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
Historical research surveys have shown the presence of prehistorical human beings in this area tens of thousands years ago. The successive ancient cultures are the Soi Nhụ culture around 18,000--7000 BC, the Cái Bèo culture 7000--5000 BC[6] and the Hạ Long culture 5,000--3,500 years ago. Hạ Long Bay also marked important events in the history of Vietnam with many artifacts found in Bài Thơ Mout, Đầu Gỗ Cave, Bãi Cháy.
500 years ago, Nguyễn Trãi praised the beauty of Hạ Long Bay in his verse Lộ nhập Vân Đồn, in which he called it "rock wonder in the sky". In 1962, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of North Vietnam listed Hạ Long Bay in the National Relics and Landscapes publication. In 1994, the core zone of Hạ Long Bay was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site according to criterion vii, and listed for a second time according to criterion viii.

The bay consists of a dense cluster of some 1,600 limestone monolithic islands each topped with thick jungle vegetation, rising spectacularly from the ocean. Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves. Hang Đầu Gỗ (Wooden stakes cave) is the largest grotto in the Hạ Long area. French tourists visited in the late 19th century, and named the cave Grotte des Merveilles. Its three large chambers contain large numerous stalactites and stalagmites (as well as 19th century French graffiti). There are two bigger islands, Tuần Châu and Cát Bà, that have permanent inhabitants, as well as tourist facilities including hotels and beaches. There are a number of beautiful beaches on the smaller islands.
A community of around 1,600 people live on Hạ Long Bay in four fishing villages: Cửa Vạn, Ba Hang, Cống Tàu and Vông Viêng in Hùng Thắng commune, Hạ Long city. They live on floating houses and are sustained through fishing and marine aquaculture (cultivating marine biota), plying the shallow waters for 200 species of fish and 450 different kinds of mollusks. Many of the islands have acquired their names as a result of interpretation of their unusual shapes. Such names include Voi Islet (elephant), Ga Choi Islet (fighting cock), Khi Islet (monkey), and Mai Nha Islet (roof). 989 of the islands have been given names. Birds and animals including bantams, antelopes, monkeys, and lizard also live on some of the islands.
Almost all these islands are as individual towers in a classic fenglin landscape with heights from 50m to 100m, and height/width ratios of up to about six.

Located on the southeastern shore of Oahu, about 10 miles from Waikiki, Hanauma Bay is an ocean-filled crater formed more than 30,000 years ago.
Be sure to arrive around 6 a.m., as the parking lot fills up quickly. Hanauma Bay hours run through 7 p.m. in the summer, and 6 p.m. in the winter. It is closed on Tuesdays. Hanauma Bay night snorkeling is available until 10 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
After viewing the mandatory Hanauma Bay marine preserve orientation film, check out the interpretive center, which highlights Hanauma Bay history. There's also a gift shop on site.
Down at the Hanauma Bay beach park, you can rent masks, fins, snorkels and lockers between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Then, all you need is a towel, sunscreen and an appetite to explore.
Hanauma Bay fish include more than 400 species — some only found here. Pick up a Hawaiian fish ID card, which you can take along with you in the water.
During your day of Hanauma Bay snorkeling, you might spot Hawaiian green sea turtles, Moray eels, spotted pufferfish and Moorish Idols. It's like swimming in the world's most amazing aquarium. Just be sure not to step on the reef, or feed the fish. You are also required to use the bathrooms before entering the ocean.
When you're ready to head back to the car, hitch a ride on the Hanauma Bay Shuttle, which runs between 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. It's .75 to go down, $1 to go up, or $2.50 for the entire day.
Hanauma Bay admission is $7.50 adults, and kids under 13 are admitted free. Hanauma Bay parking is $1. For more information about Hanauma Bay snorkel rentals, Hanauma Bay tours, or snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, call (808) 396-4229 for recorded daily information.

“10 Cloverfield Lane,” releasing to theaters on March 11, is a movie that practically came out of nowhere. Barely anybody knew of its existence until earlier this year when a trailer was attached to Michael Bay’s “13 Hours.” And even with that trailer, it was uncertain just what exactly the film is supposed to be about.
