Apec Akan Memiskinkan Rakyat Indonesia

INDONESIA THE LARGEST ECONOMY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA - G20 MEMBER
INDONESIA THE LARGEST ECONOMY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA - G20 MEMBER With a population of over 242.3 million, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and represents a sizable consumer market. In 2012, Indonesia had a gross domestic product (GDP) of $894.9 billion, making it the 16th largest economy in the world. (International Monetary Fund) The Indonesian government plays a significant role in Indonesia's market economy in which it owns over 160 enterprises and sets prices for several goods such as electricity, rice and fuel. Indonesia has the largest economy in Southeast Asia and is a member of both the G20 and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation). According to the IMF, Indonesia is the third fastest growing economy in the G20 after India and China. The country's main economic industries include petroleum and natural gas, apparel, textiles, apparel, mining, tourism and rubber. Indonesia has endured the recent global financial crisis through its reliance on domestic consumption to drive continual economic growth. In addition, investment from both foreign and domestic sources has supported the Indonesian economy. Due to its recent economic growth and sound fiscal policies, Indonesia's debt to GDP ratio has steadily declined. Trade was been expanding swiftly between the United States and Indonesia in the last several years. Since 2005, U.S. exports to Indonesia have more than doubled from $3.1 million to $8 million in 2012. The main export categories are transportation equipment, agricultural products, chemicals, and machinery. Indonesia is actively involved with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). APEC was formed in 1989. It serves as a multilateral forum in which Asian and Pacific economies can solve economic problems and cooperate in developing key economic sectors. Collectively, the 21 economies of APEC, which touch the Pacific Ocean, represent a large consumer market— nearly half the world's population, nearly half of all world trade and more than $31 trillion in economic output. The APEC economies are: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Republic of the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States and Vietnam. Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN) On October 7, 2003, 10 Southeast Asian nations signed an agreement to become an economic union by 2020. The agreement sets deadlines for lowering travel restrictions and tariffs in the region of 500 million people. Trade in this ASEAN Economic Community totals more than $720 billion a year. ASEAN includes Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei and Myanmar. Indonesia will host the 25th Annual APEC meetings in 2013- published: 22 Aug 2013

Australia--China relations
Australia--China relations
Sino-Australian relations refers to the relations between the Commonwealth of Australia and the People's Republic of China. The relationship between China and Australia have grown considerably over the years. Both countries are actively engaged economically, cultural and politically which spans numerous organizations such as APEC, East Asia Summit and the G20. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 21 December 1972. Today, China is Australia's largest trading partner. China has one of the largest foreign reserves in the world, and has invested in Australian mining companies to help meet the needs of their growing economy. History Diplomatic relations between Australia and the People's Republic of China began in December 1972, after Gough Whitlam followed President of the United States Richard Nixon's lead in ceasing to recognize the government of Chiang Kai-shek. Since imperial times, Chinese people from mainly Guangdong province in southern China have migrated to Australia since the late 1700s and boomed in the Victorian gold rush era. Australia during the 18th to the early 20th century were colonies later dominion of the United Kingdom and focused her attention towards Europe and America. It was under the Whitlam Government that Australia began formal diplomatic ties with China in 1975 and downgraded its relationship with the Republic of China on Taiwan. Australia's ties to China include those of Hong Kong which date back to when both were under British rule. China and Australia were the final two bidders for the 2000 Olympics. Australia subsequently won and Sydney hosted the 2000 Olympics. Eight years later, China hosted the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Since the Chinese economic reforms initiated by the late Deng Xiaoping, Australia has benefited from the Chinese appetite for natural resources to modernise its economy, infrastructure and meet its growing energy demands. In 2009, it is estimated the trade and investment with China brings benefits under $4000 per Australian household, in 2011, this is estimated to be A$10,500 per household per year. Australia is one of the few countries in the world during the Global financial crisis that was not in recession and experienced economic growth due to large demand and long term strong fundamentals from China. Cultural Relations Australia has been a haven for Chinese migrants for centuries who have, in the modern day, established themselves as a significant minority group in Australian society. There are now large numbers of Australian-born Chinese and Chinese-born migrants/Australian Citizens in the cities of Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane with small Chinese communities in regional centres, particularly in Victoria, and New South Wales. There are also Chinatowns in every Australian capital city, including Darwin and large, public Chinese New Year Celebrations in Melbourne and Sydney. The former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd also has strong connections with Chinese culture having studied Chinese at the Australian National University in Canberra. He also speaks fluent Mandarin. China has established many Confucius Institutes with Australia universities in major capital cities in Australia to foster better cultural ties. Education Relations Australia began accepting Chinese students for tertiary education in 1986 in English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS). Several thousands Chinese were studying in Australia in 1987. In the aftermath of Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, the Australian government granted protection for many Chinese students in Australia. Since then, Australia has become one of the biggest markets for Chinese students for tertiary education. In early 2011, there were over 126,000 Chinese students in Australia and they made up 26 percent of the total foreign students. As of September 2011, there were 150,000 Chinese students studying at Australia tertiary institutions. The Australian education export market was worth 2009/10 A$19 billion. Economic relations China is Australia's biggest trading partner mainly due to China's strong demand for iron ore, coal and liquefied natural gas. Exports to China helped Australia escape the worst effects of the global economic meltdown over the past two years. Many major Australian mining companies rely heavily on China and other growing big economies such as India for exports. These companies include Fortescue Metals Group, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Xstrata who have major Australian operations. China exports mainly clothing, telecommunications equipment and components, computers, toys, prams and sporting equipment. The bilateral trade between the two countries is worth A$105 billion in 2010/2011. Australia's exports to China totaled A$64.8 billion, while China's export to Australia was worth A$41.1 billion in 2010-2011 period. Australian vote is rigged
Australian vote is rigged
A lot of Australia is wondering how Tony Abbott became PM. Have you not noticed that ABC has kept Tony Abbott's face on TV? How getting his views on a story seemed to be more important than getting the view from the current PM. News media in Australia do not give unbiased news, and why? because its owned by Rupert Murdoch, and he's made it quite clear that he wants Tony Abbott in power. A question for the comments: When you voted, did you vote with pen or pencil?- published: 14 Sep 2013

Abbott Wins: Australia 'Under New Management'
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Latest-News/101615183364879 https://twitter.com/__LatestNews__ Tony Abbott promises to provide a "trustworthy and competent" government after winning Australia's general election. Tony Abbott has declared victory in Australia's general election after defeating prime minister Kevin Rudd. Mr Abbott, the British-born leader of the Liberal Party-led coalition opposition has ended six years of Labor rule. In his victory speech Mr Abbott said: "I can inform you that the government of Australia has changed. For just the seventh time in 60 years the government of Australia has changed. "I declare that Australia is under new management and is once again open for business. "I now look forward to forming a government that is competent, that is trustworthy, and which purposely and steadfastly and methodically set about delivering on our commitments." Earlier, in Brisbane, Mr Rudd conceded defeat. "A short time again I telephoned Tony Abbott to concede defeat at this national election," he said. "As prime minister of Australia, I wish him well in the high office of prime minister of this country." With 80% of the votes counted, the Australian Electoral Commission showed Mr Abbott's party was leading in 88 seats in the House of Representatives, to Labor's 56. Mr Rudd said Labor had "fought the good fight". He added: "Tonight is the time to unite as the great Australian nation. "Because whatever our politics may be we are all first and foremost Australian and the things that unite us are more powerful than the things that divide us, which is why the world marvels at Australia." He added: "I will not be recontesting the leadership of the parliamentary Labor Party. The Australian people I believe deserve a fresh start with our leadership." Defence minister Stephen Smith told the ABC broadcaster: "Pessimistically, I'm looking at a result which will be a 1996-type result, a heavy defeat for the government," he added, referring to the election which brought Liberal leader John Howard to power. Labor has been marred by relentless infighting - which saw Mr Rudd oust Australia's first female prime minister Julia Gillard in June - leaving the public frustrated and disillusioned. Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said: "The clear take-out from this definitely is that disunity is death and we are not disciplined enough. I don't think the division or the pain was justified at any stage." Former Labor prime minister Bob Hawke said personality politics had been allowed to overtake the party's message and policies. "The personal manipulations and pursuits of interest have dominated more than they should and in the process the concentration on values has slipped. "I really believe this was an election that was lost by the government rather than one that was won by the opposition." Early poll numbers suggested big swings against the government in the key states of New South Wales and Queensland after more than 14.7 million electors took part in the mandatory ballot across the country. During the five-week campaign, Mr Abbott gradually overtook once-popular Mr Rudd. The growing number of asylum seekers has been a major theme in the election. Labor promised that every bona fide refugee who attempts to reach Australia by boat would be settled on Papua New Guinea or Nauru. The Liberals promised new policies requiring the navy to turn asylum seeker boats back to Indonesia, where they launch, and the government to buy back ageing fishing boats from Indonesian villagers to prevent them falling into the hands of people smugglers. Mr Abbott has also vowed to scrap a controversial carbon tax and instead introduce taxpayer-funded incentives for polluters to operate cleaner. Mr Abbott was born in London and moved with his parents to Sydney at the age of two. Later, he returned to England to study at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Mr Abbott has been in Parliament for almost two decades, and for a time was health minister. He trained briefly as a priest, is a fitness fanatic famous for wearing tight swimming trunks and also volunteers for Australia's Rural Fire Service. Deeply religious, some of his more conservative views on issues such as abortion and gay marriage have not pleased some. Questions have also been asked about his attitude towards women with Ms Gillard famously labelling him a misogynist in a heart-felt speech in Parliament.- published: 08 Sep 2013
