Bodinnick Car Ferry
Bodinnick Car Ferry across the River Fowey in Cornwall. This is the new (2006?) car ferry that replaced an older ferry which was of the unpowered ferry float with motor boat tug type of operation similar to that still used at the Lower Dartmouth Ferry today

The Hall Walk
On a cold, clear, crisp day in early December 2010 I walked the Hall Walk starting from Fowey, going across the Bodinnick Ferry and then walking round to Polruan and catching the passenger ferry back to Fowey. Here are the video clips and photographs taken along the walk. The music is Bach's Air on a G String and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Please enjoy...

Cornwall - Sea Kayaking around Fowey.
The last trip from my tremendous Cornwall adventure. The forecast was not good, and I didn't fancy the exposed North coast, so, it was a choice of Fowey, or a journey home. Wimped out, and headed for the South coast, and the shelter of Fowey, and the river.First thing to note is Fowey is pronounced 'FOY',apologies if You already know. I put in at the Bodinnick ferry, which @ £7 to cross 100metres of water works out at approx. £105 per mile!!!! the equivalent of crossing the Channel would be £2205.... I then paddled downstream, and out to sea, following the coast for about a mile to the South West, turning back at Southground point. Back into the River Fowey, a stop at Readymoney Cove, a brief exploration of St Catherine's Castle and some dinner on the beach. On the return, I crossed the river and explored the East side, and Polruan. Back up to the Ferry at Bodinnick, and Daphne Du Maurier's house, with the Figurehead on it, then up river beyond the Coasters, loading China Clay. This bit was tremendously interesting, with the Industry, small boat yards, derelict landing strips, Tugboats, Yachts at moorings, etcThe final bit was really good, with Mullet swimming all around my boat, and lovely scenery, this would have been much better on a sunny day but it ws still very good, and at the turning point upstream, it felt like the end of Summer 2011, and was a quite melancholy moment, knowing I would be heading home, and most likely not experiencing warm weather again until 2012 ...

ORANGE.
A tribute to my darling Whippet Rowley who had to be put down a week ago today. I will miss her so much and in this video reflect on happy times when she was a young pup and our time living in Bodinnick near Fowey in Cornwall. This little Dog was so special to me and to many others too, she will be truly missed by all and had a very peaceful and loving final moment surrounded by those who really cared about her. See u eventually my darling Rowley, I hope you will be there running fast circles around me when that time comes..

Looe to Fowey in the mist
Another test car run. This time in Cornwall from Looe over to Fowey, on a misty late summer morning. I love driving and sightseeing so hopefully I'll perfect this technique and do better tours. This is also my biggest attempt at editing yet, with much of it having increased speed (I always drive safely, I don't do 100mph!) , a few frames cut and text imprinted.

The Loving Spirit
Daphne du Mauriers first novel was The Loving Spirit. She wrote it in 1929, at Ferryside, the du Maurier familys holiday home at Bodinnick in Cornwall. She was inspired to write the book after discovering the wreck of a schooner called the Jane Slade in Pont Creek and then reading the letters and boatyard records of the Slade family, who were shipbuilders in the nearby village of Polruan. This film is an extract from "The Make believe World of Daphne du Maurier" and is a rare opportunity to see Dame Daphne at her home in Cornwall. She talks to Cliff Michelmore on a wide range of subjects about her writing and work. She wrote twenty seven books in all, many of which were turned into films and television series. Made in 1977 at her home Kilmarth in Cornwall, its reproduction is by courtesy of Du Maurier Productions.
