The Asus Eee PC is a subnotebook/netbook computer line from ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, and a part of the Asus Eee product family. At the time of its introduction in late 2007, it was noted for its combination of a light weight, GNU/Linux operating system, solid-state drive (SSD), and relatively low cost. Newer models added the options of MS Windows operating system, rotating media hard disk drives (HDD) and initially retailed for up to 500 euros.
The first Eee PC was a milestone in the personal computer business, launching the netbook category of small, low cost laptops in the West — in Japan, subnotebooks had long been a staple in computing. According to Asus, the name Eee derives from "the three Es," an abbreviation of its advertising slogan for the device: "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play".
Asus announced two Eee PC models at Computex Taipei 2007: the 701 and the 1001. The 701 base model Eee PC 4G was released on October 16, 2007 in Taiwan. Three additional models followed.

EEE PC 1000H vs 1000 SSD or HDD vs SSD
Practical Performance Comparison between the hard drive and SSD versions of the EEE 1000. I found that the SSD on the 1000 was actually slower than the EEE 1000H on performing any task that significantly utilized writes to the storage system. Here's the kicker too... The SSD had 2GB of ram installed, and the 1000H had 1GB! KEEP IN MIND: This isnt to discredit all SSD drives, just the ones that come with the Eee PCs, which are very sub-par SSDs compared to the HDD replacements that are sold. -

Installation of Android 4.4 on Asus Eeepc. I I left the timer of the camera just to see that it didn't work from the first time, and you have to try maybe one time or many times. I can tell you that Android on Asus Eeepc runs smooth, but you have to know that not all the applications run well, also for the games. Browsing is well also music and video. Problems when comes to games because only few of them work. I tried Angry birds that worked and I played Resident Evil 4, so I guess that old generation games work better then new ones. Also I must say that the Android is unstable and clashes and it massed my windows once. More info on http://www.android-x86.org/ P.S. As I saw on other videos and I think that all that matters is also the configuration of your laptop. -

Here's the kicker too... The SSD had 2GB of ram installed, and the 1000H had 1GB!
KEEP IN MIND:
This isnt to discredit all SSD drives, just the ones that come with the Eee PCs, which are very sub-par SSDs compared to the HDD replacements that are sold.

I can tell you that Android on Asus Eeepc runs smooth, but you have to know that not all the applications run well, also for the games. Browsing is well also music and video. Problems when comes to games because only few of them work. I tried Angry birds that worked and I played Resident Evil 4, so I guess that old generation games work better then new ones.
Also I must say that the Android is unstable and clashes and it massed my windows once.

ASUS Eee PC 701 4G [NBP/2007]
Dieses Gerät prägte 2008 die neue Geräteklasse "Netbook" ein - der Eee PC von ASUS. Ein voll auf Mobilität getrimmtes Mini-Notebook mit Linux-Betriebssystem, kompakten Ausmaßen und seinerzeit leistungsschwachen Komponenten, dafür immerhin mit SSD. Der unschlagbare Neupreis von 299 € war geradezu verführerisch, ihn zu holen. Die Komponenten kommen aber schnell an ihre Grenzen, dafür stimmt die Verarbeitung. Eine interessante Gerätschaft, die wir hier präsentieren. Asus Eee PC 1005P Acquisition
So I got another laptop for free a couple of days ago, it's an Asus Eee PC 1005P. It was given to me by my Aunt since she didn't want it. Apparently it was bought about 5 years ago for a trip to Europe and only used for that trip and then stored in a bag since then, and instead of throwing it out like she was going to, she thought that I might want it, which of course I did so It was given to me. The specs of the machine are an Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, Intel GMA 3150 iGPU, 10.1" 1024x600 screen & Windows 7 Starter RTM. So far I like the machine a lot, it's a lot nicer quality than all the other netbooks I've used (which were mostly Acer ones), so I guess I've been missing out on a proper netbook all this time since it seems Asus was the way to go back then. Apparently it was bought about 5 years ago for a trip to Europe and only used for that trip and then stored in a bag since then, and instead of throwing it out like she was going to, she thought that I might want it, which of course I did so It was given to me.
The specs of the machine are an Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, Intel GMA 3150 iGPU, 10.1" 1024x600 screen & Windows 7 Starter RTM. So far I like the machine a lot, it's a lot nicer quality than all the other netbooks I've used (which were mostly Acer ones), so I guess I've been missing out on a proper netbook all this time since it seems Asus was the way to go back then. I'm not sure what to do with this ting, it's either going to be a Windows 7 machine or an Ubuntu machine (no, I'm not going to dual-boot so don't ask). Either way I go it should work well once I upgrade the RAM since 1GB isn't enough for anything, even back in 2010 when this thing was new it wasn't enough.

An in depth video review of the Asus EEE PC 1025C, the mainstream Asus netbook in 2012, part of the new EEE PC Flare line of ultraportable laptops.
This one is going to be available in a bunch of configurations. Our unit comes with an Atom N2800 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard-drive and Windows 7 Starter. It was pretty snappy during the test and managed to run HD content at ease. The 3 Cell battery offered around 4 hours of life on average, but there's also a 6 Cell battery available that will double those numbers.
The Asus 1025C should start at $299 and will be available in stores soon.
