Patch 8.1 is here for R2TW. It is mostly siege AI fix. Just how much has been improved and how does it fare against a much older game? First half is Rome 2, second half is MTW2. As far as test runs go, both games can reuse the siege engines, though MTW2 is superior in that regard. Also, Rome 2 is clearly lacking when it comes to using a ladder, for example, with multiple units.

This is my second attempt at demonstrating the Battle AI's use of siege engines after Beta Patch 7. It's nice to see that they at least use the equipment, but it's almost entirely ineffective as the battle AI eventually succumbs to its passive tendancies.

Total War : Rome 2 : AI COMBAT BUG IDENTIFIED (some walled citys)

Hi I have narrowed the AI BUG in walled citys to missile units (cavalry works with melee+siege engines). The problem is, that the bug is only in some of the walled city maps, not all of them. Carthage city map with wall is bugged. (CA needs to test ALL walled city maps with AI Army attacking and defending that includes melee+missile units+siege engines. Please note that when AI makes a hole in wall, it uses 100% of its units to storm the hole, and does not use any of the siege engines... in my opinion AI needs to use the ladders and siege towers also. This will be reported to CA support so perhaps they will fix the bug faster.
