Rip Rig + Panic were a post-punk band founded in 1981, who broke up in 1983. They were named after a 1965 jazz album by Roland Kirk. They were formed by Sean Oliver (bass), Mark Springer (piano, sax, vocals), Gareth Sager (guitar, sax, keyboards, vocals) and Bruce Smith (drums, percussion) (the latter two formerly of The Pop Group) with singer Neneh Cherry. Their other members included saxophonist Flash (David Wright), singer Andrea Oliver, trumpeter David De Fries and viola-player Sarah Sarhandi.
The group strayed from more conventional post-punk, mixing avant-garde elements with jazz and led by Cherry's innovative pop/soul singing style. Their second album, I Am Cold, included a number of tracks featuring jazz trumpeter Don Cherry, who was Neneh Cherry's stepfather. They also appeared with Nico on a BBC radio session.
Rip Rig + Panic was formed in 1980 by drummer Bruce Smith and guitarist and saxophonist Gareth Sager after the dissolution of their previous band, The Pop Group. Naming their newly founded project after the 1965 Roland Kirk album of the same name, the duo decided to explore their free jazz and reggae roots in contrast to their former band's avant-garde and political leanings. Pianist Mark Springer, who had performed live with The Pop Group, began collaborating with the duo by playing keyboards and occasionally providing vocals during live shows. Eventually, vocalist Neneh Cherry joined followed by bassist Sean Oliver. This line-up released the single "Go! Go! Go! This Is It"/"The Ultimate in Fun (Is Going to the Disco With My Baby)" on 13 August 1981, with Gavin Martin of NME saying "Rip Rig and Panic tread a fine line between undisciplined wasted and ingenious commercial aplomb."
Oliver is a given name. It is also used as a surname (see Oliver (surname)), in particular of a Scottish sept (see Oliver (Scottish surname)).
It may also refer to:
Kevin Scott Nash (born July 9, 1959) is an American semi-retired professional wrestler and actor, currently signed to WWE under their legends program. Nash has wrestled under several ring names, but is best known by his real name in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), and in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), where he has also been billed as Diesel.
In 1994, Nash (as Diesel) won all three titles comprising the WWF Triple Crown, and at that year's Slammy Awards won the MVP (now Superstar of the Year) and (with Shawn Michaels) the Best Tag Team (now Tag Team of the Year) awards.
Between WWE, WCW, and TNA, Nash has won a total of 21 championships, including being a six-time world champion (a five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWF World Heavyweight Champion), and a 12-time world tag team champion between the three promotions. Although he held the WWF World Heavyweight Championship only once, Nash is the longest-reigning titleholder of the 1990s, with a 358-day run. During his time in WCW, Nash also became the first wrestler to defeat Goldberg and in the process ended his undefeated streak of 173–0 at Starrcade in 1998.
Christopher Keith Irvine (born November 9, 1970), better known by the ring name Chris Jericho, is a Canadian professional wrestler, musician, media personality, actor, author, and businessman, currently signed to WWE. He also performed for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and international promotions in Canada, Germany, Japan, and Mexico. Jericho is known for his over-the-top, rock star persona – dubbed "The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" – and for a contrasting run as an aloof, manicured villain in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Jericho has won 30 championships between WWE, WCW, and ECW – the three most prominent American wrestling promotions in the 1990s and early 2000s. He is credited as being the first Undisputed WWF Champion, having unified the World Championship (formerly the WCW Championship) and the WWF Championship by defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night in 2001. He is also the ninth Triple Crown Champion, as well as the fourth Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. In addition, he was the 2008 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award winner and (along with Big Show as Jeri-Show) won the 2009 Tag Team of the Year Slammy Award – making him the only winner of both Superstar and Tag Team of the Year in WWE history.
Paul Michael Levesque (born July 27, 1969), better known by his ring name Triple H (an abbreviation of the name Hunter Hearst Helmsley), is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion in his ninth reign; the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative of WWE; and the founder and current shareholder of WWE NXT. He is married into the McMahon family, which maintains majority ownership of WWE. In addition to his corporate role, Levesque makes regular appearances on WWE television as an authority figure and wrestler.
Levesque entered several bodybuilding contests after graduating high school in 1987. He commenced his professional wrestling career in the International Wrestling Federation in 1992, under the ring name Terra Ryzing. He joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1994, where he was repackaged as Jean-Paul Lévesque, a French Canadian aristocrat. In 1995, Levesque moved to the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), where he became Hunter Hearst Helmsley and, later, Triple H. In 1997, Triple H co-founded the influential D-Generation X stable, which became a major element of the WWF's "Attitude Era". After winning his first WWF Championship and beginning a storyline marriage with Stephanie McMahon in 1999, Triple H became a regular main event wrestler (in 2003, Levesque married McMahon in real life). Over the next two decades, he would win a total of 14 world championships and lead stables the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, Evolution, and The Authority, with whom he continues to perform. From 2010 onwards, Triple H began wrestling on a part-time basis as he took on a greater behind-the-scenes role within WWE.

Lisa Moretti (Ivory) exposes Triple H (Paul Levesque). interview by Kayfabe Commentaries (Sean Oliver) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFZECoVixHE Triple H is horrible and arguably the most overrated wrestler of all time, he is a slow, stale in-ring peformer who never did anything special or unconventional in the ring or stuff that requires athleticism or strength, he's an incredibly lame, uncharismatic and bland talker, probably the biggest backstage polician in history, a person who puts himself in matches with bigger stars to get attention, someone who wants to get all the credit for the work William Regal (Darren Matthews) and others did for NXT. HHH arguably has the biggest ego in wrestling history. And check out Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) is awesome and the wrestlers deserve...

Music and food are the two themes that have run through Andrea Oliver's life. As a teenager, with her best friend, Neneh Cherry, Andrea was in the post-punk band Rip Rig + Panic. Now she presents food programs on BBC Radio 4, and had a cookery show on BBC 2 which she presented with Neneh. But last year Andrea embarked on possibly one of her biggest adventures yet: running her own kitchen. We went to meet her.

This is a clip from "The Young Ones" episode "Cash", featuring a band named "Ken Bishop's Nice Twelve" performing Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues". The "band" was really just a one-off conglomerate consisting of Squeeze members Jools Holland (conducting and wearing a yellow beret) & Chris Difford; plus Stewart Copeland of The Police and other musicians and comedians including Derek Griffiths, Martin Dobson, Simon Brint (as Ken Bishop), Rowland Rivron (as Duane Bishop) Peter Brewis (who also wrote TYO closing theme) and more (can anyone name the other fellows?). This clip was edited from most subsequent DVD and VHS copies of "The Young Ones" due to copyright problems. (I found it on a Spanish copy.) Enjoy.
Last night at 205 Chrystie, just after 1 am, Nirvana's cheerleaders got an update during Ebony Bones's set, as one of the coolest singers and the two awesomest bandmate/back-up vocalists I've seen in a minute, went through alternately joyous and solemn dances in the spirit of "A small village in Africa", per lead singer Ebony's quip. And while their garb was tribal, they are far more steeped in subculture, namely that great tradition of conceptual British art-pop informed by a societal, political, and historical consciousness, expressed by the Bones crew to an at times harrowing and often rapturous and delirious pitch. During one moment the back-up singers vamped with a boppy, New Wave dolly coo, while asking a question pondered since time immemorial by thinkers like Morrissey, Eldridge Cl...

An excerpt from Ms Cherry's recent fabulous performance at Hamer Hall. Here she's giving a rap from her early (pre-Buffalo Stance) days with Rip, Rig & Panic. I was hoping for a mini impromptu RR&P; reunion, given ex-bandmates Gareth Sager and Bruce Smith were in the country with The Pop Group. Alas, it was not to be.
An epic 31 minute version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" where former Allman Brothers Band guitarist (1997-99) Jack Pearson and Derek's brother Duane Trucks (drums - Widespread Panic/Hard Working Americans) joined the Tedeschi Trucks Band for this set closing tribute to Butch Trucks the night after he died. Jan. 26, 2017 Tennessee Theatre Knoxville, TN
Following a screening of 'Beware of Mr Baker', featuring the notorious Ginger Baker, 3 well-established drummers in their own right did a little demonstration of the differences between jazz & rock styles of drumming as well as timing & origin of this key tool in percussion. Featuring Ralph Salmins (Van Morrison, McCartney, Madonna), Steve Noble (N.E.W., DECOY, Rip Rig & Panic) and Jean-Claude Webs (D.R.Congo: Kanda Bongoman, Sam Mangwana) delivering knowledgeable & engaging words as well as sounds.
part 2 without Rip Rig and Panic hope they don't block it again

This is the longest documentary about making of "Alexander". It's a bonus feature off the latest "The Ultimate Cut", which came out in BluRay in 2012. It's made by Sean Stone, Oliver's son. This is most anticipating "making of", which lots of you asked for. I also believe this is the last piece of footage because Oliver confirmed that "no more cuts will follow". So make sure you enjoy every awkward pixel of it.
