Steven J. Erlanger is an American journalist who has been the Paris bureau chief for The New York Times since 2008. Erlanger joined the Times in September 1987.

Erlanger became the Times bureau chief in Paris, succeeding Elaine Sciolino, in March 2008.

After graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard College in 1974 with an A.B. in political philosophy, Erlanger was a teaching fellow at Harvard from 1975 to 1983. Concurrent with this billet, he was an editor and correspondent for the Boston Globe beginning in 1976, where he served on the national and foreign desks, covered the Iran Revolution and Solidarity in Poland and was the European correspondent based in London from 1983-1987.He has written for numerous magazines, including The Spectator, The Economist, The New Republic, the Financial Times, The New Statesman, the Columbia Journalism Review, and The National Interest.

Erlanger is the son of Jay and Florence Erlanger, both deceased. He is married to Elisabeth Erlanger. Erlanger graduated from The Taft School in 1970.

Charles Peete "Charlie" Rose, Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American television talk show host and journalist. Since 1991 he has hosted Charlie Rose, an interview show distributed nationally by PBS since 1993. He has also co-anchored CBS This Morning since January 2012. Rose, along with Lara Logan, has hosted the revived CBS classic Person to Person, a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow.

Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, the only child of Margaret Frazier and Charles Peete Rose, Sr., tobacco farmers who owned a country store. As a child, Rose lived above his parents' store in Henderson and helped out with the family business from age seven. Rose admitted in a Fresh Dialogues interview that as a child his insatiable curiosity was constantly getting him in trouble. A high school basketball star, Rose entered Duke University intending to pursue a degree with a pre-med track, but an internship in the office of Democratic North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan got him interested in politics. Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in history. At Duke, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1968. He met his wife, Mary (née King), while attending Duke.

Dan Abrams (born May 20, 1966) is an American television host, legal commentator, web entrepreneur and best-selling author. He is currently Legal Analyst at ABC News Good Morning America (GMA), and a substitute anchor for the network. He formerly served as Chief Legal Analyst for NBC News, as General Manager of MSNBC and as an anchor for that network. He is the host of Investigation Discovery's "Chasing Justice with Dan Abrams." His book, Man Down: Proof Beyond A Reasonable Doubt That Women Are Better Cops, Drivers, Gamblers, Spies, World Leaders, Beer Tasters, Hedge Fund Managers, and Just About Everything Else., was recently named a Washington Post best seller, and has been translated into Russian, Indonesian, Croatian, Swedish and Hebrew, among other languages. Abrams is currently the publisher of six web properties.

He is also the CEO of Abrams Research, a digital media strategy firm.

Abrams was born in Manhattan to Floyd Abrams, an attorney, and Efrat Abrams. He graduated from Riverdale Country School in 1984. He received his B.A. cum laude in political science from Duke University in 1988. While at Duke, he anchored newscasts on the student run channel Cable 13, and joined Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Columbia University Law School in 1992.

Don Welch (born June 3, 1932) is a poet and an educator who was born in Hastings, Nebraska. The author of several published poetry collections and regular contributor to literary magazines, Welch was an English professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney from 1959 to 1997. While there he was awarded the Distinguished Paul W. Reynolds and Clarice Kingston Reynolds Endowed Chair in English, Poetry & Creative Writing. In June 2001 a bronze sculpture of Welch was finished and dedicated to him on the campus.

Born in Hastings, Nebraska, Welch spent his early years in the towns of Gothenburg as well as Columbus. After graduating from Kearney Senior High School in Kearney, Nebraska he earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from University of Nebraska at Kearney; a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and; a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Welch and his wife Marcia recently celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary, and have five children.

Welch's early career was spent teaching English at Fort Morgan High School in Fort Morgan, Colorado, Gothenburg High School in Gothenburg, Nebraska, and at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. After retiring from full-time teaching Welch has continued to teach various poetry, Literature and philosophy classes and continues to be an avid reader and writer of poetry. His newest book of poetry, When Memory Gives Dust a Face, is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2008. It is an autobiographical collection of new poems that will span nearly five decades.

Herman Achille Van Rompuy (pronounced [ˈɦɛɾmɑn vɑn ˈɾɔmpœy] ( listen); born 31 October 1947) is the first long-term and full-time President of the European Council (until the Treaty of Lisbon, the position had rotated among the prime ministers of the member states for six months each, since then they choose a President of their meetings for a 2½ year period, renewable once). This is an unelected position. A Belgian politician of the Christian Democratic and Flemish party, Van Rompuy served as the 49th prime minister of Belgium from 30 December 2008 until his predecessor (Yves Leterme) succeeded him on 25 November 2009. He has the Grand Cordon of the Order of Leopold.

On 19 November 2009 Van Rompuy was elected by the members of the European Council as the first full time President of the European Council under the Treaty of Lisbon. He was appointed to chair the institution for the period starting from 1 December 2009 until 31 May 2012, though he only took up his position officially on 1 January 2010. On 1 March 2012 Herman Van Rompuy was re-elected by the heads of state or government of the 27 EU member states. His second term will last two and a half years, from 1 June 2012 to 30 November 2014.
