A one-person show (one-woman show or one-man show) is a solo performance, featuring a comedian or actor who stands on stage and entertains an audience.
While a one-person show may be the musings of a comedian on a theme, the form can accommodate a wider scope. In the preface of the book Extreme Exposure, editor Jo Bonney uses the term "solo performance" to encompass those performers who do not necessarily have a comedic history. She suggests that "at the most basic level, despite their limitless backgrounds and performance styles, all solo performers are storytellers." This assumption is based on her assertion that a number of solo shows have a storyline or a plot.
Bonney also suggests that a distinctive trait of solo performance resides in its frequent lack of a fourth wall separating the performer from the audience, stating that a "solo show expects and demands the active involvement of the people in the audience". While this is often the case, as in the shows of performers coming directly from the stand-up comedy tradition, it is not a requirement: some solo shows, such as Krapp's Last Tape by Samuel Beckett, are performed without the performer addressing the audience directly.
One Man Show is a 2001 Malayalam-language comedy-drama film that marks the directorial debut of Shafi with screenplay by the Rafi Mecartin duo.
It stars Jayaram, Samyuktha Varma, Lal, Manya, Kalabhavan Mani and Narendra Prasad in pivotal roles. The story unfurls itself in the course of a TV game show.
The story unfurls itself in the course of a TV game show, much akin to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Jayakrishnan (Jayaram), the protagonist, comes to take part in the show, hosted by popular filmstar Mukesh. In the course of the show, the host pries into Jayakrishnan’s past and the whole story is unfurled in flashback.
Jayakrishnan, his uncle K. R. Menon (Narendra Prasad) and his cousin, Menon’s daughter Radhika (Samyuktha Varma), who is Jayakrishnan’s sweetheart too, lived together. All of them were lawyers and their house was nicknamed "Kodathi veedu" (Court house). Among the lawyers of Kodathi Veedu, Jayakrishnan and his Junior Ponnappan (Kalabhavan Mani) were the only utter. No client ever came in search of Jayakrishnan and he never earned anything. But he decided that he'd marry Radhika only after he had fought and won a legal battle. So Jayakrishnan, along with Ponnappan, decides to reopen the case of Hari Narayanan (Lal), who is locked up in a mental asylum for the past few years. Jayakrishnan, with timely help from Doctor Raziya (Manya), his friend, proves in court that Hari Narayanan is not insane and that he was dubbed a mad man by his own brother Raveendran (Janardhanan), who wanted to wrest Hari's property too. It’s uncle Menon who fights the suit from the other side. Jayakrishnan wins the case. Hari Narayanan is released from the mental asylum. Jayakrishnan is married to Radhika.
One Man Show is an E.P. by French musician Lord Kossity, released in 1996 on the labels Ragga Dub Force and Killko Records.
Baby, I'm sorry
(Not gonna let you down)
Sorry for the things that happened to you, babe
For what he did
I'll show you that I'm not gonna do those things that he did to you
I'm gonna love you I'm gonna hold you
I'm gonna give you everythign that your heart desires
You don't have to question love
Cuz when I get home I'll show you love
I know you're hurting baby
Because of what he did
But here I am to rescue you
From that man of sin
He took your life from you
And noted you for him
Promised you brighter days
But now your light is dim
He had no right to do
The things he did to you
If I had half a chance
Girl, I'd be good to you
Don't let don't let don't let don't let
Don't let what happened in your past hurt our future
- One man can make one women hate all men
Tell me why is it that
One man can make one woman hate all men
Makes a woman hate all men
One man can make one women hate all men
I'm sorry that he took your heart and did you in
You lived your life a lie
Now it's time to seek the truth
If it takes the rest of my days
I'm gonna make it up to you
So you let your guards on down
I don't want to go no rounds
Cuz baby, I'm here for you
Truly, truly here for you
Don't let don't let don't let don't let
Don't let what happened in the past hurt our future
Girl Im' sorry that he took your heart and did you in
I'm not tryin' to hurt you
(I'm not tryin' to hurt you pretty baby, pretty baby)
I just wanna make sweet love to you
(All I wanna do is make you feel good all over)
While making love all the things
He said he'd do to you and he didn't girl
I'll do for you
Baby I'll do, vow to cuz I'm sorry that he took your heart
And did you in, yeah
Ladies, it was us all along
That made ya get up and get out and do wrong
I know you didn't really wanna do it
Hey, but being pissed off at us led you to it
Yes it did, yes it did, yes it did, oh, oh, oh
It mean I'm sorry baby
For coming in late from being out all night oh yeah
See I was so busy out there doing you wrong
while you were out there with somebody else
Getting your groove on, oh, oh, oh, oh
I guess its' a lesson to be learned
