We are approaching the 15th anniversary of 9/11, and to mark that I am now presenting some more breaking radio coverage of the day that isn't available elsewhere. This is from WTOP Radio in Washington which begins their coverage by dipping into WCBS Radio's coverage, but once the Pentagon is hit, they shift into more local coverage. The first CBS Radio national bulletin on the attack is also heard. WTOP posted this on their website on the first anniversary of 9/11 I believe, but it has not been available since.
The ID and TOTH to the multi-cast network that is WTOP Radio, D.C.'s most-listened-to radio station and as of 2013, America's most-billed radio station. 103.5 WTOP - FM / Washington, D.C. 103.9 WTLP - FM / Braddock Heights - Frederick, MD 107.7 WWWT - FM / Manassas - Fredericksburg, VA The posting of this video is designed to facilitate criticism, commentary, scholarship, and research relating to the television broadcasting industry, and for purposes of historic preservation, consistent with the provisions set forth in Section 107 of Title 17, United States Code. The opening minutes from a November 1972 edition of WTOP's Eyewitness News.
From WTOP-TV Washington, the first wave of One & Only TV 9 promos from 1975. All were voiced by Doug Llewelyn (of People's Court fame) who at the time was one of a trio of hosts for the local talk show Nine in the Morning. He would later leave Channel 9 for fame and fortune on the West Coast. At this time, 9 was truly the powerhouse station in DC and this campaign kept them there for several years. The One and Only campaign was later syndicated to other markets.

Tomorrow I will go to San Francisco
I bought the flight by accident last night
Later I´ll be dancing down in Rio
And Australia is on the other side
[Bridge]
I´m sick of this security I have with every step I ever
make
It´s like hell
Even if your words would fly like butterflies
I would not be afraid
´cause there´s nothing left to say
[Chorus]
Your commentary is not necessary
I made up my mind today
And noone can say
That it´s too far away
Coz I made up my mind today
and I´m sure
Many years have passed, they stole my longing
A trip around the world has been my dream
Behind the wall of silent hope, still waiting
That a princess in a golden cage is freed
[Bridge, Chorus]
I will taste the air on every continent
and maybe find a place to stay
I´ll think about your words when I see butterflies
and drink the best champagne
to your health
[1.strophe, Chorus(2x)]
