Climate Change: Why you should be angry and why anger isn't enough" John Ashton at TEDxBedfordSchool
About the Speaker: One of the world's top climate diplomats, John Ashton is now an independent commentator and adviser on the politics of climate change. From 2006-12 he served as Special Representative for Climate Change to three successive UK Foreign Secretaries, spanning the current Coalition and the previous Labour Government. He was a cofounder and, from 2004-6, the first Chief Executive of the think tank E3G. From 1978-2002, after a brief period as a research astronomer, he was a career diplomat, with a particular focus on China. He is a visiting professor at the London University School of Oriental and African Studies, and a Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College. About the Talk: If you are under 30 today, you are on track to find out in your lifetime what unmanageable climate change will be like. Business, politics and economics seem to have no response. What is going wrong and how can you use your voice if you want this fixed in time to fix your future? + In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)- published: 20 Aug 2013

Climate Change 2013: Greenland Ice Sheet & Northern Polar Jet Stream - Peter Sinclair
New climate change science explained by Peter Sinclair, just back from a scientific expedition to the Greenland Ice Sheet. Sinclair explains the feedback effects of melting ice, and the impacts on the northern polar jet stream and mean sea level. Sinclair leads educators on climate science and created the Climate Denial Crock of the Week video series, which tackles myths about global warming, the greenhouse effect, and carbon dioxide pollution. Sinclair proposes moving towards wind and solar as the key to jobs and future energy needs. Recorded, edited, and published by Aaron Wissner of LocalFuture.org- published: 23 Jul 2013

The Global Conveyer Belt & Climate Change
Follow us on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Kurzgesagt The global conveyer belt and climate change The global conveyer belt is part of the large-scale ocean circulation that is driven by differences in the density of the waters. It plays a key role in keeping the climate at balance and Europe warm. Global warming may change it forever with unforeseeable consequences. Thank you all for your suggestions for new videos. We are currently making a list. Topics that get requested a lot have a higher chance of being picked, so keep the requests coming :) This was our last environmental video for 2013. Up next is the stock market, north korea part #1 (yes, there will be more than one) and probably something about the universe again :) Also: We made a brief intro for kurzgesagt videos! Climate Change Is Man-Made, UN Panel 95% Certain
"Tomorrow, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will release its fifth assessment report, the first since 2007. An early version of the report leaked more than a month ago, and the official version isn't expected to tell us anything new. If anything, its conclusions will be on the conservative side. An aggregate of scientific findings, the report will likely reflect near-consensus on the following, as quoted in the Guardian: "Global surface temperatures have risen by almost a degree in the last century. Sea levels have risen, while snow and ice cover has dropped significantly. Coral reefs are being destroyed and weather patterns are becoming wilder and less predictable." For the first time, it will state that scientists are 95 percent certain that climate change is caused by human activity...".* Desi Doyen (Green News Report) and comedian Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show) break it down on The Young Turks. *Read more here from LINDSAY ABRAMS / Salon: http://www.salon.com/2013/09/26/five_ridiculous_claims_about_climate_change/- published: 27 Sep 2013
