Grown under plastic, this crop is SO different from last year's crops. Richard Lewis contractor from Whitemill, Carmarthen, is using his small chopper and 6-row header, as the big one is still on grass silage. And another 200 acres to do, at least. Filmed in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK.

Interesting bit of co-operation here - Lyn Jones has the chopper with a maize header and Glan Towy have the John Deere tractors (betting the trailers match the tractors?) The JCB on the pit is also a Glan Towy machine, though Lyn has a new JCB just arrived back at the yard. For the record, Claas Jaguar 900 SP forager, two John Deere 6140R tractors and a Case MXM 155. Cutting was somewhat of a nightmare as the still-green stems slid off the auger and wouldn't feed into the drum, hence causing numerous blockages. Not just here, either. Seems as if the open season we are enjoying has failed to cause the usual die-back of the maize foliage that we expect by now. Filmed in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK.

They use a John Deere 6850 forage harvester, a Claas Xerion 3800 Trac VC and a John Deere 7530 with custom silage wagons. This contractor was hired to chop the very wet fields for farmer Evert Kroes with his 4000 calves, from Uddel. Loonbedrijf J. de Heus uit Langbroek aan het mais hakselen en modderen bij Uddel. Ze gebruiken een John Deere 6850 hakselaar met dubbellucht, een Claas Xerion 3800 Trac VC en een John Deere 7530 met aangepast silagewagens. Deze loonwerker was ingehuurd om de mais van de zeer natte velden te hakselen voor veehouder Evert Kroes met zijn 4000 rosé kalveren, uit Uddel.
