Triple j is a nationally networked Australian radio station intended to appeal to listeners between the ages of 18 and 30. The government-funded station is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The station places a heavy emphasis on Australian music and new music, and generally plays more alternative music than commercial stations.

The first incarnation of what became Triple J was established in September 1974 as the AM-band radio station 2JJ or Double Jay. The first broadcast commenced at 11.00 am on Sunday 19 January 1975.

Double Jay was a product of the progressive media policies of the Gough Whitlam Labor government of 1972-75 and was one of a series of innovations that stemmed from the recommendations in the Independent Inquiry into Broadcasting (1974) report. These included the expansion of radio broadcasting onto the FM band, the issuing of a new class of broadcasting licenses—which finally permitted the establishment of community radio stations, the long-awaited third tier of the Australian radio industry—and the creation of two new stations for the ABC: 2JJ in Sydney and the short lived 3ZZ in Melbourne.

Elizabeth Rose was a Benedictine nun at Chelles, France. She founded the convent of Sainte-Marie-du-Rozoy, near Courtenay, Loiret, France, and served as its first abbess. Eventually she retired to live as an anchoress in a hollow oak tree.

Alex Dyson (born 22 June 1988) is an Australian radio presenter who, along with co-host Tom Ballard presents the breakfast show on Australian youth radio station Triple J.

Dyson grew up in Warrnambool and began his radio career on local community station 3WAY FM. Dyson and Ballard began presenting mid-dawn shifts for Australian youth radio station in 2007. They made their transition to weekend radio in late 2008, taking over from Sam Simmons.

On 23 November 2009, Triple J announced that Tom Ballard and Dyson would take over as hosts of the 2010 Breakfast show.

A little known fact about dyso' is that he loves to punt a sherrin with the boys on a Saturday arvo. He once collected 35 touches and kicked 10 goals in a TAC cup grand final. He is renowned for his hard ball gets and attack at the footy. According to one source he once took a massive hanger that rivaled his great uncle Sir Alex Jesalenko. He is an all round good bloke and loves a few schooies with the lads after the game.

In December 2008, live on Triple J radio, Dyson attempted to break the Guinness world record for the most Ferrero Rocher chocolates eaten in one minute, which stood at seven.

Tom Ballard (born 26 November 1989) is an Australian radio presenter and comedian.

Thomas Colin Ballard grew up in Warrnambool, Victoria and attended Brauer College Warrnambool, graduating in 2007 where he was dux with an ENTER of 99.80, and was consequently named as the dux of the South West Region.

He was also awarded the VCAA's VCE Achiever's Award for December 2007. Among reasons he was given this award were cited as winning VCAA's Plain English Speaking Award as well his work within the school and local youth communities and activism on topics such as homophobia and cyber-bullying.

Ballard began his comedy career by playing Blitzen in a local amateur production of Rock n Roll Santa in 1997. He was a three-time Class Clowns National Finalist and a Raw Comedy National Finalist by 2006. He performed in Upwey, Warburton, Healesville and Lilydale as part of the Young Blood Comedy Tour in 2007 and was a guest entertainer in the 2007 Melbourne Comedy Festival's Eskimo Jokes show.

He was one quarter of The Comedy Zone at the 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Nicholas Edward "Nick" Cave (born 22 September 1957) is an Australian musician, songwriter, author, screenwriter, composer and occasional film actor.

He is best known for his work as a frontman of the critically acclaimed rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, established in 1983, a group known for its eclectic influences and musical styles. Before that, he had fronted the group The Birthday Party in the early 1980s, a band renowned for its highly gothic, challenging lyrics and violent sound influenced by free jazz, blues, and post-punk. In 2006, he formed the garage rock band Grinderman that released its debut the following year. Cave's music is generally characterised by emotional intensity, a wide variety of influences and lyrical obsessions with religion, death, love and violence.

Upon Cave's induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame, ARIA Awards committee chairman Ed St John said, “Nick Cave has enjoyed—and continues to enjoy—one of the most extraordinary careers in the annals of popular music. He is an Australian artist like Sidney Nolan is an Australian artist—beyond comparison, beyond genre, beyond dispute."
