Sinopsis

The Long Tomorrow, by Moebius
"The Long Tomorrow" is the title of a short story comic written by Dan O'Bannon around 1975 or 76, and illustrated by Moebius. The storytelling of "The Long Tomorrow" is inspired by film noir and hardboiled crime fiction, but the story is set in a distant, science fiction future, making it one of the first true cyberpunk stories. Founding cyberpunk author William Gibson said of The Long Tomorrow:
So it's entirely fair to say, and I've said it before, that the way Neuromancer-the-novel "looks" was influenced in large part by some of the artwork I saw in 'Heavy Metal'. I assume that this must also be true of John Carpenter's 'Escape from New York', Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner'", and all other artefacts of the style sometimes dubbed 'cyberpunk'. Those French guys, they got their end in early.
The comic came to the attention of Ridley Scott and was a key visual reference for Blade Runner.
It was originally serialised in two segments in the French magazine Metal Hurlant in 1976 and later by the American magazine Heavy Metal in Vol. 1 No. 4 and Vol. 1 No. 5 published in July 1977 and August 1977 respectively.
Fumetto di Moebius tratto da AlterLinus n.11 e n.12, 1976.

The Star, by Moebius
"Le Monde d'Edena" (The World of Edena) is a series of graphic novels by French artist Moebius. It was inspired by a portfolio Moebius made for the French car manufacturer Citroën, called "The Star", in 1983. In this initial short story, Moebius introduces 2 protagonists, Stel and Atan, traveling in an old Citroën on a bald planet. Not much happens in the story, but in the end, they are invited by a spacecraft to fly to an unknown world, a 'Garden of Eden somewhere in another galaxy'. The open ending of the Citroën story inspired Moebius to think what would happen after, and thus the series 'Le Monde d'Edena' was born.
The strength of these science-fiction stories lies in the fact that Moebius uses them to pose questions about dreams, nutrition and health, biology and sexuality, the human desire to live in a structured society, and archetypal good and evil. All of these more philosophical elements are organically embedded in deceivingly light stories, allowing the reader to page through the different layers.
The graphic style is also different from other work by Moebius in that the artist restricted himself to a 'Clear Line' style (Ligne Claire), with minimal details.

A Short Animation Inspired by the Works of İlhan Koman
Plato Art Space is proud to present Candaş Şişman’s video dedicated to famous sculptor İlhan Koman produced for the exhibition İlhan Koman: Hulda Festival, a Journey into Art and Science opening on the 22nd September, 2010.
İlhan Koman’s unique design approach in his form studies also inspires contemporary art works. The video installation Flux by young artist Candaş Şişman can be defined as a digital animation which is inspired from the structural features of some of İlhan Koman’s works like Pi, 3D Moebius, Whirlpool and To Infinity... A red circle, which is colored in reference to the red radiators of Ogre, is traced in a morphological transformation which re-interprets the formal approach of Koman’s works. The continuous movement sometimes connotes the formal characteristics of Pi, 3D Moebius, Whirlpool and To Infinity..., as well as the original formal interpretations of the design principles of the works . In Flux, Koman’s design process in the making of the Pi series has been treated as the emerging of a sphere from a two-dimensional circle by the principle of increasing the surface; and that simple direction is re-interpreted in digital medium. Thanks to this, in the digital animation an entirely different form serial that does not resemble Pi yet remaining its design principle can be followed through the flow of a circle to the sphere. As a conscious attitude of the artist, this work is not designed in a direct visual analogy with Koman’s works. During the animation, none of the moments of the transforming form look like Pi or 3D Moebius, however the subjective reading of Koman’s approach can be observed.
With the integration of the sounds of various materials – which Koman used in his sculptures – Flux turns into an impressive spatial experience. Flux, also exemplifies that Koman’s work can be re-interpreted by the analysis and manipulation of form in the digital medium.

Moebius aka Möbius
Moebius, a German mathematician from the beginning of the 18th century, who developed the magically twisted circle ring on which this knitting technique is based.
Use a long circular needle - at least 32 inch.
Cast on around double needle points. Number of sts cast on divided by gauge will give finished diameter. Pull out one needle and move sts to needle with no working yarn.
With other side of needle pick up sts in each long loop under each stitch all around. (Since not picking up in the first st you will end up with an odd total number of sts).
The needles should now be on the outside of the cable and the cable is twisted one time on the middle. Join and start knitting in the round.
First time you get to the starting tail you have worked all sts cast on on needle and now you will make first round on the sts picked up and first time you work these you knit in the back loop. Following rounds will be worked in front loop as normally.
If you keep knitting in the round half your work will be in stockinette and half in reversed stockinette. Since you have an odd number of sts you could K1,P1 all around and your moebius will be all in seed sts.

Moebius Möbius in crochet
Moebius, a German mathematician from the beginning of the 19th century, who developed the magically twisted circle ring on which this crochet technique is based.
Ch a row in desired length of your cowls circumference. Form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: ch 3 (= 1 dc), skip first ch, continue to work 1 dc in every ch the entire round, work only in back loop of ch. Continue to work in the round and once you finish the first round you now work 1 dc in every ch in front loop of ch (i.e. there will be a "cross" in the transition).
ROUND 2: Insert a marker = beg of round. Begin working 1 dc in 3rd ch from beg of previous round, continue to work 1 dc in every dc the entire round.
Continue in the round with desired stitch pattern.

Orbital - Orbital (Green Album) :
This debut album from London's "bleep and bass" pioneers, the Hartnoll brothers, collects most of the thumping, home-made tracks that had been tearing up the underground "orbital raves" of London (from which they took their name) for the previous two years on vinyl. Their spine-tingling signature anthem "Chime" is here, along with the moody techno and Star Trek samples of "The Moebius." Meanwhile, "Desert Storm" and "Oolaa" shake and shimmer like dance floor hallucinations. For some listeners these old-school mixes of electro beats, sampler loops, and knob twiddlings will bring on a chemical rush of nostalgia. Others will just want to dance like it's 1991 and marvel at how influential this album obviously was on the vast output of electronica that followed in its wake.
From the Enya-esque vocal drowning in the whirlpool of sonic love on "Belfast" to the scintillating grid lines and chill-out ambient gliding of "Midnight," this release proves Orbital was setting trends from the get-go. One of the first major techno releases to come out of the UK, this release (also known as "the Green Album") showed England could make techno tracks as brilliant as those coming out of the U.S., and then some.
