The БMД (BMD) is a Russian abbreviation for "Боевая Машина Десанта" (transliteration: Boyevaya Mashina Desanta) which in English translates to "Combat Vehicle of the Airborne". BMD-3 is not an upgraded BMD-1 but a completely redesigned vehicle with a hydro-pneumatic suspension, new hull, a more powerful 2V-06-2 diesel engine and fitted with the complete turret of the BMP-2. The vehicle originates in the Soviet Union and is fully amphibious and air-droppable with the crew inside. It is intended to be a fire-support platform for use by airborne and air assault units. Starting under the industrial experiment and research index of Объект 950 (Object 950), it was manufactured at the Volgograd Tractor Factory (Russian: Волгоградский Tракторный Завод) in Volgograd (Russian: Волгогра́д) in Russia and entered service in 1990; the last year before the fall of the Soviet Union. About 1000 BMD-3 and BMD-4 are currently in service with the armed forces of the Russian Federation, The BMD-3 was introduced in the last year before the fall of the Soviet Union. A 100mm main gun, 30mm autocannon, and a 7.62mm machine gun grace this beautiful beast! At 17-Tons the BMD-4 is the most heavily armored vehicle in the world of its class. Able to withstand armor-piercing projectiles up to 30mm and double charge guided missiles. Some 1300 BMD-3/4's are in service with Russia with about 43-50 being ordered every year until 2016. The BMD-4 is a king of the modern battle field.

The БMД-4 (Russian "Боевая Машина Десанта", transliteration: Boyevaya Mashina Desanta), or BMD-4 in English, is an Airborne Combat Vehicle (ACV) that entered service with Russian airborne units in 2005; the Russian abbreviation meant "Combat Vehicle of the Airborne" in English. The vehicle uses the BMD-3 chassis, but carries a significantly more powerful armament that in some cases are capable to replace main battle tanks and artillery units with its firepower during landing operations. Some older BMD-3 are being upgraded to BMD-4, along with a low-rate production of new vehicles. In terms of armaments, the vehicle is equipped with the same weapons as BMP-3, the 100-mm main gun and coaxial 30-mm cannon. The 100-mm gun comes with an auto-loader, which also loads Bastion laser-guided anti-tank missiles. This missile has a range of fire in 5.5 km and can also target helicopters while the ordinary 100-mm rounds have a maximum range of fire in 7 km. There is also a 9M113 Konkurs (AT-5 Spandrel) anti-tank guided missile launcher mounted on the roof of the hull. Additional armament consists of a 7.62-mm and 5.45-mm machine guns and a 40-mm automatic grenade launcher. In terms of firepower the BMD-4 is the most heavily armed vehicle in the world in it's class. The BMP-3, nicknamed Troyka, is one of the most heavily armed infantry combat vehicles in service, fitted with a 2A70 100mm rifled gun, which can fire conventional HE-Frag shells or 9M117 (AT-10 Stabber) ATGMs 2A72 dual feed autocannon with 500 rounds and a rate of fire of 350 to 400 rpm, and a 7.62 mm machine gun with 2000 rounds, all mounted coaxially in the turret. There are currently about 550 in service with Russia, with a further 200to be built in 2009

Il BMD-3 Bakhcha AA è la versione contraerea dell'APC (o Carro Leggero) BMD -3 Lo si può trovare nella missione "Metallo Pesante" ma nel Multiplayer dovrete andare in modalità corsa nella mappa "Porto di Valdez" per trovarlo. il pilota è armato di un potente lancia granate ma raggio di spostamento del lancia granate è limitato alla sola parte anteriore dell' APC quindi se mentre si prende la mira dall' lato e gli viene lanciato un razzo il pilota non lo può notare,ma compensato dal fatto che ai lati sono presenti 2 mitragliatrici,presenti solo negli APC o carri leggeri,essendo il Bakhcha AA una modifica di un APC. Nel caso il nemico sia su un palazzo la batteria contraerea piazzata sopra il Bakhcha AA può provvedere essendo l'unica arma con libertà di movimento del carro. The BTR-D is a Soviet airborne multi-purpose tracked armoured personnel carrier which was introduced in 1974 and first seen by the West in 1979 during the Soviet war in Afghanistan. BTR-D stands for Bronetransportyor Desanta (БТР, Бронетранспортер Десанта, literally "armoured transporter of the Airborne")[14]. It is based on BMD-1 airborne IFV. NATO gave it the designation BMD M1979.

The BMD-3 "Bakhcha" (Boyevaya Mashina Desanta , Russian "Боевая Машина Десанта" "Бахча", literally "Combat Vehicle of the Airborne") is a light infantry fighting vehicle originating in the Soviet Union that is fully amphibious and air-droppable with crew inside. It is intended to be a fire-support platform for use by airborne and air assault units. It is not an upgraded BMD-1 but a completely redesigned vehicle with a hydropneumatic suspension, new hull, a more powerful 2V-06-2 diesel engine and fitted with the complete turret of the BMP-2.
The vehicle is manufactured at the Volgograd Tractor Factory, Volgograd, Russia under the industrial index Ob'yekt 950. Entered service in 1990.
The BMD-3 was introduced in the last year before the fall of the Soviet Union. About 1,000 BMD-3 and BMD-4 are in service with armed forces of the Russian Federation, and 500 BTR-MD and 57 2S25 have been ordered.
