DDT
DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a colorless, crystalline, tasteless and almost odorless organochloride known for its insecticidal properties. DDT has been formulated in almost every conceivable form, including solutions in xylene or petroleum distillates, emulsifiable concentrates, water-wettable powders, granules, aerosols, smoke candles and charges for vaporizers and lotions.
First synthesized in 1874, DDT's insecticidal action was discovered by the Swiss chemist Paul Hermann Müller in 1939. It was then used in the second half of World War II to control malaria and typhus among civilians and troops. After the war, DDT was made available for use as an agricultural insecticide and its production and use duly increased. Müller was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for his discovery of the high efficiency of DDT as a contact poison against several arthropods" in 1948.
In 1962, the book Silent Spring by American biologist Rachel Carson was published. It cataloged the environmental impacts of indiscriminate DDT spraying in the United States and questioned the logic of releasing large amounts of potentially dangerous chemicals into the environment without a sufficient understanding of their effects on ecology or human health. The book claimed that DDT and other pesticides had been shown to cause cancer and that their agricultural use was a threat to wildlife, particularly birds. Its publication was a seminal event for the environmental movement and resulted in a large public outcry that eventually led, in 1972, to a ban on the agricultural use of DDT in the United States. A worldwide ban on its agricultural use was later formalized under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, but its limited use in disease vector control continues to this day and remains controversial, because of its effectiveness in reducing deaths due to malaria, which is countered by environmental and health concerns.

DDT (professional wrestling)
In professional wrestling a DDT is any move in which the wrestler has the opponent in a front facelock/inverted headlock, and falls down or backwards to drive the opponent's head into the mat. The classic DDT is performed by putting the opponent in a front facelock and falling backwards so that the opponent is forced to dive forward onto his or her head. Although widely credited as an invention of Jake Roberts, who gave the DDT its famous name, the earliest known practitioner of the move was Mexican wrestler Black Gordman, who frequently performed it during the 1970s.
Rumors abound as to what the letters DDT supposedly stood for, including Drape Drop Takedown, Drop Dead Twice, Demonic Death Trap, Drop Down Town, Death Drop Technique and Damien's Dinner Time or Damien's Death Touch (the latter two named after Jake's pet python Damien). When asked what DDT meant, Jake once famously replied "The End." The abbreviation itself originally came from the chemical dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane, a notorious pesticide, as stated during shoot interviews and Jake's Pick Your Poison DVD. Many think that the term DDT was applied because the chemical DDT is a hazardous chemical buried in the ground which potentially causes brain damage.

Denkmäler deutscher Tonkunst (literally "Monuments of German musical art") is a historical edition of music from Germany, covering the Baroque and Classical periods.
The edition comprises two series: the first appeared in sixty-five volumes between 1892 and 1931, and the second, which was subtitled Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Bayern (Monuments of musical art in Bavaria), in thirty-six volumes between 1900 and 1931. The first series was issued by a Prussian royal commission of celebrity musicians and musicologists in instalments through the music publishers Breitkopf & Härtel in Leipzig, and the second by the Society for the Publication of Monuments of Musical Art in Bavaria.
A parallel series of volumes on Austrian composers, Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich (Monuments of musical art in Austria), was begun in 1959, and as at 2015-10-25 is in progress at one hundred and fifteen volumes.
References to these editions in this article in common with general practice use the acronyms DdT, DTB, and DTO, and to the Münchener Digitalisierungs Zentrum Digitale Bibliothek with MDZ.

From about 1945 to 1970, large amounts of DDT were released into the air and on soil or water when it was sprayed on crops and forests to control insects. DDT was also sprayed in the environment to control mosquitoes. DDT was first synthesized in 1874, but it was not until 1939 that its insecticidal properties were discovered. Yuri Shevchuk, Rustam Asanbaev, Gennady Rodin, Vladimir Sigachev, and Rustam Karimov founded the band in the summer of 1980. Due to a lack of means for recording, the band remained silent until 1982. In the Spring of 1982, the group competed in a contest called Золотой Камертон (or "Golden Tuning Fork"). They won the competition with the song "Не стреляй." In the same year, the group published their first album - Свинья на радуге. After this album was released and the band gained some fame, they attracted the attention of the KGB and their album was declared forbidden. The group was forced to go underground.
As the band's fame grew, so did hostilities from the government. Finding it difficult for the band members to find work in Ufa, Shevchuk moved to Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) and played with the band Урфин Джюс.
In 1985, Shevchuk moved to Moscow. In March of the same year, he held a concert in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1987, Shevchuk rebuild the band, now including Nikita Zaitsev, Vadim Kurylev, Andrei Vasiliev, Igor Dotsenko, Andrei Muratov, and Mikhail Chernov. That same year, the band performed in a rock festival in St. Petersburg for a crowd of three thousand people. The band held its first cross-country tour in 1988.
In 1993, DDT was named "best rock group of the year" and Shevchuk was named "best rock-musician of the year."
DDT plays a wide variety of styles, ranging from rock, to country, to blues, and more. They have risen to become one of Russia's most popular and influential rock groups.

From about 1945 to 1970, large amounts of DDT were released into the air and on soil or water when it was sprayed on crops and forests to control insects. DDT was also sprayed in the environment to control mosquitoes. DDT was first synthesized in 1874, but it was not until 1939 that its insecticidal properties were discovered. Sherwin Williams began marketing DDT in a paintable form in the mid 1940's under the trade name Pestroy. Production of DDT in 1971 in the United States was estimated to be 2 million kg. This represented a sharp decline from the 82 million kg produced in 1962, and from the 56 million kg produced in 1960. At the peak of its popularity in 1962, DDT was registered for use on 334 agricultural commodities and about 85,000 tons were produced. The cumulative world production of DDT has been estimated as 2 million tons. As of January 1, 1973, all uses of DDT in the United States were canceled except emergency public health uses and a few other uses permitted on a case-by-case basis. Currently, no companies in the United States manufacture DDT. DDT is presently produced by companies in Mexico and China. Since the ban on DDT was instituted in the United States and most of the world in 1972, the environmental concentrations of DDT and its metabolites have been decreasing. The persistence of DDT and its metabolites, in combination with their high lipophilicity, have contributed to the bioaccumulation (increasing concentration of a chemical in an organism which exceeds that in its environment) and biomagnification (increasing concentration of a chemical in an organism as a function of trophic level) of DDT and its degradation products in the environment. DDT accumulate in fatty tissues, with tissue concentrations typically increasing with the trophic level of the organism. People who swallowed large amounts of DDT became excitable and had tremors and seizures. They also experienced sweating, headache, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. These effects on the nervous system went away once exposure stopped. The same type of effects would be expected by breathing DDT particles in the air or by contact of the skin with high amounts of DDT. Animal studies show that long-term exposure to moderate amounts of DDT may affect the liver. Tests in animals also suggest that short-term exposure to DDT and metabolites in food may have a harmful effect on reproduction. In addition, we know that some breakdown products of DDT can cause harmful effects on the adrenal gland. Based on all of the evidence available, the Department of Health and Human Services has determined that DDT is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. Similarly, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that DDT is possibly carcinogenic to humans. EPA has also determined that DDT is a probable human carcinogen. Yuri Shevchuk, Rustam Asanbaev, Gennady Rodin, Vladimir Sigachev, and Rustam Karimov founded the band in the summer of 1980. Due to a lack of means for recording, the band remained silent until 1982. In the Spring of 1982, the group competed in a contest called Золотой Камертон (or "Golden Tuning Fork"). They won the competition with the song "Не стреляй." In the same year, the group published their first album - Свинья на радуге. After this album was released and the band gained some fame, they attracted the attention of the KGB and their album was declared forbidden. The group was forced to go underground.
As the band's fame grew, so did hostilities from the government. Finding it difficult for the band members to find work in Ufa, Shevchuk moved to Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) and played with the band Урфин Джюс.
In 1985, Shevchuk moved to Moscow. In March of the same year, he held a concert in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1987, Shevchuk rebuild the band, now including Nikita Zaitsev, Vadim Kurylev, Andrei Vasiliev, Igor Dotsenko, Andrei Muratov, and Mikhail Chernov. That same year, the band performed in a rock festival in St. Petersburg for a crowd of three thousand people. The band held its first cross-country tour in 1988.
In 1993, DDT was named "best rock group of the year" and Shevchuk was named "best rock-musician of the year."
DDT plays a wide variety of styles, ranging from rock, to country, to blues, and more. They have risen to become one of Russia's most popular and influential rock groups.

In this video, we'll cover the story of DDT. It was considered as the safest pesticide at that time. So safe, that people were used to be sprayed with it. It gained widespread popularity because of its highly effective insecticidal property. As time passed, people realized that it wasn't so safe as they considered. A Book written by Rachel Carson, 'Silent Spring' with DDT at it's center sparked a global environmental movement and DDT was banned.

DDT
DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a colorless, crystalline, tasteless and almost odorless organochloride known for its insecticidal properties. DDT has been formulated in almost every conceivable form, including solutions in xylene or petroleum distillates, emulsifiable concentrates, water-wettable powders, granules, aerosols, smoke candles and charges for vaporizers and lotions.
First synthesized in 1874, DDT's insecticidal action was discovered by the Swiss chemist Paul Hermann Müller in 1939. It was then used in the second half of World War II to control malaria and typhus among civilians and troops. After the war, DDT was made available for use as an agricultural insecticide and its production and use duly increased. Müller was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for his discovery of the high efficiency of DDT as a contact poison against several arthropods" in 1948.
In 1962, the book Silent Spring by American biologist Rachel Carson was published. It cataloged the environmental impacts of indiscriminate DDT spraying in the United States and questioned the logic of releasing large amounts of potentially dangerous chemicals into the environment without a sufficient understanding of their effects on ecology or human health. The book claimed that DDT and other pesticides had been shown to cause cancer and that their agricultural use was a threat to wildlife, particularly birds. Its publication was a seminal event for the environmental movement and resulted in a large public outcry that eventually led, in 1972, to a ban on the agricultural use of DDT in the United States. A worldwide ban on its agricultural use was later formalized under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, but its limited use in disease vector control continues to this day and remains controversial, because of its effectiveness in reducing deaths due to malaria, which is countered by environmental and health concerns.
