A payphone (alternative spelling: pay phone) is a public telephone, often located in a phone booth or a privacy hood, with pre-payment by inserting money (usually coins), a credit or debit card, or a telephone card.
Payphones are often found in public places, transportation hubs such as airports or train stations, convenience stores, malls, casinos, and on street corners. By agreement with the landlord, either the phone company pays rent for the location and keeps the revenue, or the landlord pays rent for the phone and shares the revenue. Some payphones, particularly at gas stations, are mounted in drive-up structures that can be used without leaving the vehicle.[citation needed]
Payphone revenues have sharply declined in many places, largely due to the increased usage of mobile phones. Payphone providers have sometimes tried to reverse the decline in usage by offering additional services such as SMS and Internet access, thus making their phone booths into Internet kiosks. The abandonment of payphones by telephone companies has angered some people who consider them a communication staple for low-income and low-credit consumers. In particular, payphones are useful for foreign or generally non-local travellers who need to place local calls, as well as those who simply don't like or cannot afford mobile phones.[citation needed]

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember,
The people we used to be...
It's even harder to picture,
That you're not here next to me.
You say it's too late to make it,
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights,
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed,
Still stuck in that time,
When we called it love,
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
If "Happy Ever After" did exist,
I would still be holding you like this
[Video:] All those fairy tales are full of shit
[Album:] All those fairy tales are full of it.
[Video:] One more fucking love song, I'll be sick.
[Album:] One more stupid love song, I'll be sick
Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow
'Cause you forgot yesterday.
I gave you my love to borrow,
But you just gave it away.
You can't expect me to be fine,
I don't expect you to care
I know I've said it before,
But all of my bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights,
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed,
Still stuck in that time,
When we called it love,
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you

Man, fuck that shit
I'll be out spending all this money
While you're sitting round wondering
Why it wasn't you who came up from nothing,
Made it from the bottom
Now when you see me I'm stunning,
And all of my cars start with a push of a button
Telling me the chances I blew up
Or whatever you call it,
Switch the number to my phone
So you never could call it,
Don't need my name on my shirt,
You can tell it I'm ballin.
Swish, what a shame could have got picked
Had a really good game but you missed your last shot
So you talk about who you see at the top
Or what you could have saw but sad to say it's over for.
Phantom pulled up valet open doors
Wiz like go away, got what you was looking for
Now it's me who they want, so you can go and take
that little piece of shit with you.
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?

Just cry
You don't have to hide it from me
Rely on me
Just cry
Even if you don't know why
Rely on me
That's what you said, but I don't know
I'm walking here so all alone
I wanna hear your voice right now
I'm looking for it all around
I really need to find a payphone
Just smile
You don't have to hide it from me
Come dance with me
Just smile
Even if you don't know why
Come dance with me
I know you can't smile those tears away
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong

Time's a mister crime's a mister
Mister right is sex and shelter
Sam says fists can make him feel like magic
Sam says bitch let Sam devour
The songs they seem so real
See the songs they speak to him
See the songs fists sinking, says he's sorry
Tears just only make the weak seem weaker
Sam says weak ones are the only ones to fight
Sam says sex is black and blue assault
And that salt makes better all the ladies
The songs they calm him down
See the songs they make a dove from a hound
See the songs can make even Sam sound sad
Down, down
Is this it?
Says his voice to the face in the payphone
And the face she seldom speaks, seldom lies
Says the face into the payphone
And the face she seldom speaks, seldom lies
Oh damn you killed our summer
And the weather seldom clears
Sam says baby let's be bygones
But the face she seldom hears, seldom heals
