The Himalayan - Mt.Everest Base Camp trek HD Time Lapse
This time lapse film showcases the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayan mountains. I shot these images on our trek from Lukla to Mt.Everest base camp in Nepal in May 2013. Some of the best views I've seen and experienced. Although I'm just learning time lapse photography, I really hope you enjoy this movie.
The last scene you see here is the Mt.Everest peak :)

The Hidden Kingdom : MUSTANG (Nepal).
In 1999, Was my frist trip to Nepal. I can say it totally change my life forward! I was born in the Alps and was so attracted by the himalayan mountains. I did the Annapurna circuit at that time with my best friend Oliver. I was looking for the tibetan culture , inspired by some adventurous person like Alexandra David Neels and Olivier Folmi .When you do the Annapurna circuit there is a small village called Kagbeni at a 3400meters of elevation. This is the entrance to an hidden valley called Mustang. This aera is a restricted aera . that means you are not allowed to get there without a special permit and a guide and a to be a group of a minimum of 2 person.
We staied in there a couple of days , it has been probably my best moment ever . Since 1999, i visited Nepal almost 19th time and discovered several places but i always kept inside me to coming back to Kagbeni.
So i finally find the right time to get there in May 2013. It was also a good chance to be trekking with my fellow friend and guide Deny. He was also excited to visit this new area.
Here is the movie about this 10 days trekking we did in Upper Mustang. I was first suprised to see how the Annapurna circuit changed . Now it is possible to reach Kagbeni by bus or Jeep , making Kagbeni in a close future not as attractive as it was in the past . This trekking was amazing. First the landscape were outstanding , geology really similar to the Grand Canyon, it was really dry and colorful rocks.i also visited some of the most interesting monasteries i've seen in Himalayas . And get chance to assist at the creation of a sand Mandala. The highlight of this trek was the meeting of Yangchen , she is young local girl and invite Deny and me to stay with her and her family. It was a great experience and i will never forget it.
If you need more information about this trekking , don't hesitate to contact me .
Hope you will enjoy it.

The Dream They Carry
More than 20'000 Nepalese migrant laborers work in the Himalayan district of Ladakh, North India, mostly in road and building construction. Unwilling (and often unable) to bear the economic hardships back home, they decided to undertake the long journey North, in hopes of a brighter future. For most of them, such hopes have yet to materialize. Poor, displaced, uneducated, shunned by the locals, and vulnerable to the harsh high altitude climate, they slave away among the rocks and dust of Ladakh.
Many of the laborers are not just individuals, but families with children. Because of the volatility of their parents' work, the children spend their days on dusty construction sites, rather than in schools. Without education, they are set to become the same as their parents. The future now rests on the children's shoulders. Only they can fulfill their parents' hopes, and prove to them that the journey they took upon themselves so many winters ago was worthwhile.
In November of 2011, I spent a month in Ladakh to document the Nepalese migrant community. "The Dream They Carry" follows my path through the colorful streets of Leh, across flat and arid expanses and along azure rivers, up to passes at the end of winding valleys, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. On the way, as I spend time among rugged workers, large families, and abandoned children, I get a rare glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes in Ladakh. The resulting film is a testament to human suffering and hope.

change of course
http://prasiitsthapit.com.np/
The first time I arrived in Susta, I had to walk around 3 minutes from the river across the sandy bank to get to the village. I saw two small huts and there people were selling tea and fish. I sat there talking to them for a while. The next time I went, I didn’t see the huts. I asked someone where the huts were. Pointing towards the river she calmly said, “Somewhere there, can’t be sure”.
Susta was once perched firmly on the west bank of the Narayani River, which has long been considered as the border between Nepal and India. But with the river changing course due to climate change, and cutting persistently into Nepali territory, the village today finds itself on the east of the Narayani. India maintains the new course of the river as the boundary while Nepal disagrees, making Susta a contested portion of Nepal within India, surrounded on three sides by India, and on the fourth by the Narayani. It is estimated that 14,860 hectares have come under Indian encroachment thus far.
The Himalayan Times on 30th June 2011 reported that the Narayani had breached 135 hectares of farmland during the monsoon in Susta. The locals presume that the river has breached around 100 mts. of land inwards this year alone. This has been occurring at an accelerated rate for almost a decade now. “Now its just the farms but in 2 years time the river will start eroding the village if nothing is done”, exclaims Rampyare Kurmi, a local.
“There is the ‘Save Susta Campaign’ (a local movement established to protest against Indian advancement into their land) on one side and also the resistance with the river,” Laila Begum, a local, states, “How many battles must we fight?” But what are the issues that will be left to resolve if the land itself doesn’t exist anymore?
This is a petition to the people of Nepal and the world for change in Susta, resolution of the dispute between the two countries, building of retaining walls along the bank of the Narayani. This is a poem dedicated to the people of Susta, their sorrow, their grief, their determination, their resistance, their persistence, their isolation.
"A petition is a poem, a poem is a petition." (The Dreamers, Bernardo Bertolucci).
