Football star Cristiano Ronaldo inaugurated a museum dedicated to his football career, on his home island of Madeira on Sunday. The museum showcases memorabilia including footballs, photographs, and trophies from the 28-year-old's career. At the inauguration, Ronaldo said that "there is always a place for 'La Decima' (a possible tenth Champions League title for Real Madrid). I wish we can get it this season, we are very hopeful to win it and hope it could be this season." The museum, a combined initiative of Ronaldo and his proud mother, is due to open its doors to the public early next year. Members of the press were given special access to the museum on Sunday. The British Museum was established in 1753, largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building. Its expansion over the following two and a half centuries was largely a result of an expanding British colonial footprint and has resulted in the creation of several branch institutions, the first being the British Museum (Natural History) in South Kensington in 1887. Some objects in the collection, most notably the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, are the objects of intense controversy and of calls for restitution to their countries of origin.

Starting with a single cellist on the floor of the National Air and Space Museum's Milestones of Flight gallery and swelling to 120 musicians, The United States Air Force Band exhilarated museum visitors yesterday with its first-ever flash mob. The four-minute performance featured an original arrangement of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring/Joy to the World," led by the Band's commander and conductor, Col. Larry H. Lang. Unsuspecting museum visitors including tourists and school groups were astonished as instrumentalists streamed into the gallery from behind airplanes and space capsules, and vocalists burst into song from the Museum's second floor balcony.
