Syria - EID Protest Calls for Overthrow of Hated Dictator Bashar Assad 10-15-13 Daraa
Syria - In Ibtaa, Daraa Province, people gather for an Eid protest against the Assad regime: AP Muslims Mark Eid Al-Adha Holiday MINA, Saudi Arabia October 15, 2013 (AP) Associated Press Muslims around the world held Eid al-Adha celebrations Tuesday, slaughtering sheep and other livestock to give meat to the poor in the biggest holiday of the Islamic calendar. In Saudi Arabia, some 2 million Muslims on the annual hajj pilgrimage performed a rite throwing pebbles at a series of walls representing Satan in a symbolic gesture of stoning the devil, rejecting sin and temptation. Afterward, they shaved their heads — or cut off a lock of hair — to show the renewal of their faith and the purification of their souls. The rites kicked off the festivities of Eid al-Adha — or "festival of sacrifice" — for Muslims around the world. The holiday commemorates the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim — or Abraham, as he is known in the Bible — to sacrifice his son in accordance with God's will, though in the end God provides him a sheep to sacrifice instead. Muslim communities across the Arab world, Asia and Africa, Europe and the U.S. marked the holiday Tuesday. The faithful slaughtered sheep, cattle and other livestock. They give part of the meat to the poor and usually tuck into a lavish family dinner with the rest. The holiday, lasting three or four days, is an occasion for family celebrations and outings, with parents often buying new clothes for their children. The hajj pilgrims will repeat the stoning ritual in the desert valley of Mina for two or three more days, then complete their pilgrimage in the nearby city of Mecca, circling the Kaaba, the cube-shaped structure believed to have been built first by Adam then again by Ibrahim to mirror the house of God in Heaven. The Kaaba is Islam's holiest site, and Muslims around the world face it in their daily prayers.- published: 15 Oct 2013

False Flags And Crisis Actors In The Middle East: A Short Documentary
False Flags And Crisis Actors In The Middle East: A Short Documentary
www.newlibertytimes.blogspot.com/ . The definition of 'False Flag' operation is as follows: "False flag operations are covert operations designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by other entities." The following is a short list of people who have voiced their suspicion that the recent chemical weapons attacks in Syria were staged by the opposition forces in order to gain even further US military action against the Syrian Government: -Archbishop Gregorios III, Archbishop of Damascus and Patriarch of 1.6 million Byzantine Rite Catholics -Carla del Ponte, a member of the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria. -Rolf Ekeus, former UN weapons inspector and Swedish diplomat -Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of Staff for Sec. of State Colin Powell (2001-2005) Yossef Bodansky, former Director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare (1988 to 2004). -Sen. Rand Paul -Rep. Alan Grayson -George Galloway MP, member of the British Parliament -Former Congressman Dennis Kucinich -Former Congressman Ron Paul -Wikileaks founder Julian Assange -Craig Murray, former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan and a whistleblower regarding UK and US policy of sending prisoners for torture in countries including Uzbekistan. -Political commentator Pat Buchanan -Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, former associate editor of The Wall Street Journal and former Assistant Secretary of The Treasury in Reagan Administration -Even a semi-complete list of professional independent journalists who voice this suspicion would add many pages to this article, but just to name a few more: --Stephen Lendman, award winning journalist and 'Progressive Radio News Hour' host -Patrick Cockburn, award winning journalist for Financial Times and The Independent' -Yahya Ababneh, frequently featured in major Middle Eastern publications -Jeffrey K. Silverman, Caucasus region specialist, editor Georgian Times The list above could be expanded but the point is been made, the suspicion of false flag operations in Syria is mainstream opinion. Really, it seems that very few people outside of the dinosaur mainstream media and the Washington warmonger coalition have any trouble wrapping their minds around the obvious fact that it is the opposition combatants in Syria and their international backers who have total incentive to launch or stage a chemical weapons attack for the purpose blaming the Assad government. After all, as made perfectly clear in multiple 'red line' statements by President Obama, evidence of chemical weapons use is the one thing that would result in direct missile strikes against the Assad government.- published: 06 Sep 2013

Courageous Journeys with Theodora and Father James Pappas
Courageous Journeys with Theodora and Father James Pappas
Orthodox Christianity Today. Orthodox populations remain in the Middle East, but their numbers are relatively small. The Eastern Orthodox Church - the larger of the two Orthodox groups - has become the second largest Christian communion in the world (after Roman Catholicism), and it is mainly concentrated in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Greece. Significant numbers of believers also live in Syria and Lebanon. Meanwhile, Oriental Orthodoxy has remained the dominant religion of Ethiopia and Armenia, two of its ancient heartlands. Large numbers of Oriental Orthodox believers also live in Egypt and India. The country with the greatest number of Eastern Orthodox Christians is Russia, and the country with the greatest number of Oriental Orthodox Christians is Ethiopia. Some Greek Catholics in Ukraine, Romania, Lebanon, and Syria, worship according to the Byzantine rite, but follow the primacy of the Pope. In the 17th and 18th Centuries, changes such as nationalism and threats of attack forced many of these Eastern Catholic Churches to accept being led by the politically strong Roman Catholic Church, who promised them aid if they would convert. National rulers sympathetic to Catholicism often led this change. Most such churches follow liturgical practices identical to those of the Orthodox Church.- published: 19 Aug 2013
